We came to see a movie and had some friends meeting us. I purchased everyone's tickets. However, this theater only prints one ticket that says how many people are coming in. You don't get individual tickets. so we couldn't go in and sit down because they said our whole party had to be here to go in on the one tickets. Needless to say, we didn't have time for popcorn or seats together because we had to wait. We will not be coming back to this theater. read more

Nice enough theatre but the popcorn tastes like stale cardboard. No amount of salt or butter can fix the taste. I love movie theatre popcorn and I was VERY disappointed. With as much money as movie theaters make you'd think this one could spring for better popcorn. They should ask AMC courthouse in Arlington to show them how to buy and make popcorn. read more

Incredibly disappointed in our recent movie experience! Came in mid-week to watch movie on FCPS snow day! Arrived to no one working at ticket counter or area just inside door so approached concessions. We had arrived after listed start time but confirmed with clerk that we had 10 more minutes of trailers so plenty of time to pick up some popcorn & drinks at concession. We purchased tickets and asked to order drinks. They had NONE!! Zero! Not one flavored drink! If I wanted water it was in a tiny (size of two mini Dixie cups!!!) complimentary cup, without a lid. I asked to speak to manager about getting a soda cup (smallest would have been fine) just so it has a lid and is more than just 1 sip!! We had to wait several minutes for her arrival!! When she finally did arrive, she said no, that the complimentary cup was it, and that it was out of her hands, just staring at me while I considered my horribly limited option. She was resigned to making zero effort to accommodate my (I would imagine) rare request and my I can't describe how incredibly disappointed and frustrating it was to hear that. At that, we walked into our movie and was even more frustrated to find out that we had now missed the start of the movie due to trying to remedy our situation. I must admit that I will not be returning to this theatre. I hope the powers that be recognize that when zero effort is made to accommodate a rare customer request, especially when the issue started with their lack of readiness/customer service, zero effort will be made to return!! read more

It's a lot cleaner than AMC and not that much long lines...parking is good in the garage and food right next store.....but price for popcorn, hotdogs and even water $2 is really not worth it...So eat first or stop by your local 7-11 and stockup and bring it with you. This experience should be a negative 5. We used the Kiosk to buy our tickets (good this time, because normally it's down or acting up). Got in line for refreshments, waited 26 minutes to hear we don't have this and that. Forgot to get my points at the Kiosk and asked the cashier at the stand if he could help; he tried his best but was not familiar with how to, so he asked the manager- Christina V. for help. Her badge said manager but it should have said something else. He told her after 3 times he couldn't grasp what to do and she scolded him, repeatedly. We asked for- but it appeared they did not seem to have any food and drink; we resulted in getting the last three over cooked hot dogs and 2 bottles of water. While waiting, I heard another cashier say- "we haven't had anything since last week", i.e. pizza, chicken fingers, any sandwiches, etc. I will certainly be surprised if they last until Spring 2020. This place used to be good; to watch a movie with family and friends and have refreshments,normal right? What is most shocking, is them trying to compete with Springfield Town Center like cinemas -leather reclining seats, friendly atmosphere, Plenty TO BUY- wine ,beer, beverages and tasty food. TL;DR version: If you care about the movies and how they're projected, STAY FAR AWAY FROM REGAL KINGSTOWNE 16. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They obviously don't care about how movies are shown to their paying customers. AVENGERS: ENDGAME was underlit and dark. How do I know? At the press screening the week before at a non-IMAX theater - AMC Mazza Gallerie - I was able to see fine detail, even in shadows. Kingstowne's projection was like trying to watch mud. The worst of it was at a showing of the MIDSOMMAR director's cut on September 4th. This film has subtitles, but they were unreadable due to the projector being set at the wrong aspect ratio - it should have been at 2.00:1, but the settings were on "scope" at 2.40:1. This resulted in the black matting bars at the top and bottom being larger than they should have been, with the bottom bar obscuring the subtitles. (The trailer for THE LIGHTHOUSE was also affected by this error; the evidence was displayed as early as the green MPAA band before the trailer played, as text was cut off by the matting.) In both instances, I left the theater twice to ask if anything could be done about it and was met with "That's just the way it is." In the case of MIDSOMMAR, why bother showing it? Cost-saving by burning the projector bulb at half-power at the expense of being able to watch a movie should be a cause to close your theater down permanently. Even more unforgivable is not correcting a very obvious problem which hampered the very act of understanding the movie. People are not trained well here, and the lack of care is an insult to movies and their audiences. If you care about the movies and how they're projected, STAY FAR AWAY FROM REGAL KINGSTOWNE 16. But if you want a free movie after 9:30 on a non-peak night (M-Th), go for a 10p show. No one's taking tickets and you can walk right in. I didn't do this - I bought my ticket online and no one was there to scan it. If I hadn't gone to get a bottle of water and asked "Where do I get my ticket scanned?", I wouldn't know that the concession stand attendants were responsible for doing that. So this place is not only hurting the viewer, they're hurting the studios as well with their lax attention to attendance. read more

This used to be a nice theater, but in the last couple of years it has rapidly gone downhill. Staff are practically non-existent. If you order food that needs to be prepared, cross your fingers and hope they don't lose your order and make you wait 25 minutes. They can't keep condiments and things such as jalapeños in stock, or keep the nacho cheese hot. Worst of all, they've added a system that projects onto the screen *and* both side walls for a more immersive movie; except that they can't keep the walls in sync with the movie on the screen, so the walls wind up being a distraction that also spoils upcoming scenes. I'd give them one star, but I've seen worse and the decor is decent. read more

I'm not sure why, but I have a strange fear of being heckled by teenagers, or getting into a verbal argument with a pack of teenagers over something ridiculous. This has never actually happened to me in my adult life, so my fears are completely unfounded ... but they persist nonetheless. For instance, when I walk my dogs past the kids getting let out of school in the afternoon, I worry that they will say something like, "Hey, lady, your dogs are ugly." Or, "Hey, lady, maybe someone needs to walk you around the block a couple of times." And then in my head, I play out what an appropriate response would be or if I would just keep walking and ignore them. Of course they never say anything and hardly even look my way. And apparently, in my mind, all teen heckling starts with "hey, lady..." I've reduced all groups of teens to Johnny and his cohorts from the Karate Kid. Or really, any 80s movie that costarred Billy Zabka as the quintessential, high school douche. I realize that by sharing this, I'm revealing too much and painting myself out to be a complete nut job ... but we all have our little quirks, I guess. {nervous laughter} The point is that Regal Kingstowne 16 is a teen haven. There are teens outside, loitering (a chargeable offense in NYC); there are teens inside, loitering ... there are teens standing around the ticket booth, loitering (and not buying tickets). There are teens just about everywhere you look at this theater. Which, I guess makes sense since its the only place outside the mall where they can congregate, socialize, and smoke cigarettes after they're sure their parents have driven away. As you can imagine, my weird "accosted by a teen posse" fears get kicked into high gear in/around a place such as this. But here, I feel like they have a little more merit. Yes, the back of my chair does get kicked. Yes, there are cell phones going off. That soft but persistent click-click-click sound is a kid furiously texting behind me. No, a dirty-side long glance doesn't deter them from talking, whispering, or giggling throughout the entire film .... But, at the end of the day, they are kids and it was my bad idea to see Iron Man 2 on a Saturday around 6 pm. At the very least, no one was told to "sweep [my] leg" or "put [me] in a body bag". And from what I could tell, no one was named Johnny ... or Billy Zabka. Plus, I got to go get drunk afterwards while they had to wait around for mom. It is the small victories in life that make being an adult seem cool. But really, maybe I just need a hobby.... read more

The seats were not very comfortable and the staff wasn't that attentive when the movie was obviously too load for the audience. Multiple people were holding their ears. But the biggest issue was the 25-30min of commercials and previews. I understand and enjoy a few but after a while it was ridiculous. read more

This is my second favorite area movie theater. It's situated in a strip mall with some great restaurants which is perfect for before/after the movie. I would give the theater itself 3 stars if it wasn't for its location. I've never had a sticky floor experience or been in a theater room with a weird smell like I have in others here. read more

I wish we had one of these in Chicago. This is now where my family and I head when I am back in town. It's so close to where my parents live and they have a bunch of screens. The seats are comfortable. The underground parking is really nice, but I could see how it could get full on a weekend. We go on off times, so I have never seen this place swarming like Christine J., but I've seen three movies here now with no complaints. The picture and sound has been great. The place is cleaner than any other movie theatre I've been to. Sure, I go to other theatres, but my parents stopped going to Hoffman and I prefer this to the madness at Hoffman also. read more

I swear the popcorn must have been made with a dead fish lying in the bottom of the popcorn machine. Absolutely disgusting! We ordered nachos with cheese. Served to us with a brown, disgusting crust on top of it. When we complained they said, "oh, it's just burned cheese. It's fine." No, it's not fine. Great place to see movies with the fam, especially during the week when the crowd is low! The covered parking garage is great! The downside in the summer, would be the high school/college kids that work the snack bar/stand. The recent batch of new workers are kinda lazy and don't really want to do too much when it comes to servicing customers. One particular day, I decided to splurg on buying the family treats and popcorn from the stand. The clerk at the register had the audacity to say, "You really want to pay for this stuff?" Really like this theater. Comfortable seats. Snacks are pretty expensive so don't go too often. Also, bring a light jacket if cool air bothers you. Weekends seem to be for family (great if that's your thing). And food and shopping is in well within walking distance. read more

Pretty standard theater. Parking can be a little tough at first glance but if you go in the free garage you should have no trouble. The regal loyalty card is also a great deal because it is free and you receive tons of free popcorn and tickets. read more

We went to the 7:35 showing of the Hunger Games. First look, the floors were filthy and piled high with garbage. Then my "boneless wings" which were smaller than a McD chicken nugget were still frozen on the inside. Next the movie theater, food on floor, sticky seats, we must have moved three times and then there was a delay in the film. This theater is poorly run. I know not all REGALS are like this, however I would not recommend this one. read more

We went to see Lincoln last Friday night. Considering that Friday night was the start of the weekend crowd, I would expect the facility to be clean. Nope. That evening, there were only about a dozen people but the theater was not clean. The floor was sticky and the upholstered chairs smells bad. I hope that they keep the place clean and smelling clean. I went to this place on 12/06/13 and i had the worst experience. Rude employees and MANAGER.... I think they have never heard of the phrase customer service. The mangers need training about customer service. I was sure of two things as i was leaving, not to return there and to tell my friends about my experience. While the place is conveniently located in a strip mall area which will allow you to enjoy some of the fine food to kill the time while you wait for the movie to start it lacks the fanfare and luster that other newer movie theaters have come to show the employee which are fairly young are there and truly just do not care about where they work moreover their attitude and desire to be left alone does not help the cleanliness of the place amounts to the fact that there is popcorn everywhere sticky countertops and extremely dirty area the movie theaters themselves are very nice but they could use some upgrades as a few of them you can almost hear everything from getting up to sitting down amongst other things overall not a bad place but it could definitely use some tender love and care read more

Yes you can have dinner nearby, see a movie, and walk at the small manmade lake across the street (mosquitoes in the summer). An alright theater. Has the tendency to smell like urine. As any theater you go to, the prices are ridiculous. I spent just under 8 dollars for a drink. Your best bet is to stuff candy you buy at the grocery store or something in your purse and take it to the theater. 5 bucks a box of candy isn't really my thing. They're rather clean in the actual theaters, never stepped in gum or popcorn like I do in AMC. The staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing, however. They're mostly young teenagers that seem half awake. Make sure you're POSITIVE about what you're going to ask for. Changing your order can be very.. confusing to them. read more
