I have been a Regal goer for a while particular for the popcorn. This theater Pops its popcorn then sets it out in various sizes for purchases. Great idea but the popcorn goes stale as it sits and you can't get butter at the half mark to ensure distribution past the top. I'd rather have fresh popped with lots of butter. Otherwise it's a nice theater and they are soon to get reclining seats I heard. read more

This cinema is getting better. They recently renovated their IMAX RPX auditorium and (at least for that screen) they use assigned seating which is a big plus. They have a decent -- but not outstanding by any means -- snack selection, and generally have good projection and audio with no problems. The management is quick to give free tickets to patrons who have their movie experience spoiled in some way (like an audio cutout). In general, I prefer Regal to AMC, but I know that each individual cinema can vary quite a bit. In this case, I think that Kingstown Regal 16 used to be just an average multi-screen theater, but they are really working on improving. This is a favorite cinema for my wife and I to go for first-run films. read more

The RPX theatre is 100x better than Springfield mall's theatre. The reclining seats were super comfortable, Bose sound system had no issues, and the movie was great quality. The staff working were super kind and helpful, they gave me suggestions on what to get because I haven't been to the movies since before quarantine. read more

The theater inside is like all of the others clean and the seats seem to be in good condition. However the concession stand is dreadful. I've been to this movie theater countless times and i always think they're just having a bad day. Because they are consecutively out of nacho cheese for their nachos, the icy machine is not working or the cashier is totally preoccupied with their phone. The movies that i see here are great however the concession stand here is so dreadful. Its best to bring your own items to eat to avoid being disappointed. Who's manager for this place? Is there a manager there who's checking the line and the professionalism of their staff. They can do a lot better. read more

So I go to the movie almost every week. I know I know I have a problem but that's for a different day... Anywho as others have said it is getting worse by the minute. Every time I come concessions are really really slow and then when I finally get to the register they are out of what I want every freakin time. So I went here the other night with a good friend to see Inferno. The issue with this cinema is the service. Let me explain.. If its not busy and you're going there's not an issue in the world. However, when there is a "rush" their TEAM doesn't have a system that works. So I'm stuck in a line for 20 people waiting to get a dang soda and texting my friend to make sure I wouldn't miss the beginning of the movie. Regal Cinemas here's a solution. HAVE RUNNERS! Have 3 or 4 employees who fulfill the orders while the people at the registers can move on to the next person. Its clean and its concise instead of each person leaving their register to fulfill an order and your lines back up. Someone mentioned its clean, it is... I see the pretty awful comments, and while I agree, the theater could be more cleansed, I thought the service was not too bad. We bought our tickets online, so I cannot speak of the box office. I should actually give this place 5 stars because you can walk in and go see any movie for free during the afternoon. I walked up and there was no one working in the box office, and the only employee I saw in the whole place was behind the food and drink counter, no one was checking tickets, I already had purchased a ticket but I could have easily walked into any theater I wanted and no one was around to stop me. It's nice to know where to go to see free movies now. read more

Was here Monday night for 920pm movie with the family. Ordered a large popcorn, half of it was stale. We finished it anyway, and got a refill later on, and again, it was stale. That's really disappointing, considering the price, and it's not unreasonable to expect fresh popcorn. They have a separate line for refills, but no one actually staffs that line. My biggest complaint is that they have made no effort to allow customers to social distance. Even though one purchases assigned seats, they don't do anything to stop other customers purchasing the seats directly next to you. As everyone has mentioned this movie theater is outdated. This placed opened up approximately 7 years ago and you can tell when you step inside. Living in the area this place is convenient for me to go to if I want to watch a movie. Besides the convenience I would not choose this theater specifically. Whenever I go I feel like the air circulation is not efficient as it is always "stuffy" feeling. I usually don't purchase any snacks at the theater because it is severely overpriced. But they sell the traditional popcorn, candy, nachos, etc. The box office is located outside so during the winter months or summer it can get really cold/ hot respectively. Recently I just watched Gone Girl, and my girlfriend and I sat three rows behind the screen. With that being said, I had to arch my neck up to see the screen and it got quite annoying. Newer theaters have eliminated this issue. There is no reserved seating at this movie theater. Parking is easy, free garage underneath the theater. Overall, it is okay for it's convenience for people who live in the Springfield area. But in a couple of days the Springfield Town Center movie theater will open so I wonder how many people will still visit this old one. At the end of the day they still play new movies and the sound/ visual quality is still good so it still serves it's function as a movie theater. read more

Wow, only a week after my first review on this place I return and events caused me to HAVE to write an update. Last night i went with my parents to see the new star trek. The auditorium was full of geeks, and the crowd was starting to get restless but not mad. They were apparently having projector issues and the came on about 15 minutes after the 6:30 start time and let us know we would all be getting a free ticket to a future movie of our choice. Not more than 30 second later did our movie start. This was great customer service. read more

I find that Regal Kingstowne continues to go down and down. It is not as clean as it used to be and I feel like it is the "teen/tween" hang out. That is all that seems to be there on the occassions when I go. Not that I am an old fart, but too many tweens/teens turns it into a hang out spot instead of a spot for movie watching. The food is what it is. Over-priced and not tasty. However, it is movie threatre food. I do not expect much from it. The great thing is that there is a plethora of places to eat either before or after the movie. I only go here if there is no other alternatives. read more

I am stunned at how poorly managed this cinema is. We came to an 8:00 movie on a Saturday night. The lines for concessions were 15 minute waits. The floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days. The employee that served me was nice and respectful answering my questions and concerns. The place was pretty clean and places that were dirty were getting cleaned by employees. The theater was old as expected because it's an OLD THEATER which people seem to forget. But the chairs were comfortable enough to enjoy my movie. My least favorite movie theatre but it works ins pinch. Popcorn is always cold and scarce. Every time I've brought the kids they Icee Machine is out of order. On a day when kids are out of school, you would think they would have more then two employees working, more than one food station open and more than one register working. Regal Kingstowne is our go to movie theater only because AMC Hoffman has been taken over by large, roaming gangs of teenagers hopped up on caffeine and the hope of feeling each other up in the back rows. Also, Kingstowne is less sticky. It still sort of sucks. They do a terrible job of figuring out occupancy. The Mister and I went where on Christmas Day last year and got tickets for a movie that came out that day. We got our tickets, indulged at the snack bar and headed to the theater. There were no seats. Not a single one was open. When we went to the customer service desk, it was a fight to get our money refunded and an apology was completely out of the question. They offered to sell us more expensive tickets to the next show, which wasn't much of a help seeing as we had already purchased our treats. The Mister's nasty movie theater nachos weren't going to hold up another 90mn. Truth be told, they already looked pretty disgusting. We finally got our refund and went home. When we've gone back, it's been an utterly average suburban movie theater experience. read more

I always went there because it's very close to where I live. Here're a few things that I don't like about it, though: - They don't really have a variety of movies. - The moment you get in, you'll realize there's something wrong because it's a little crowded and not very well organized, which makes it a little hard for me to enjoy the whole package of going to the movies. - You can sometimes find popcorn on the ground, which doesn't really give a good impression. - The least I can get for $8 is a fresh popcorn, but instead, I got some preserved, cold, and VERY salty popcorn. - The ticket is pricier than AMC's for no good reason, since they don't offer anything extra. On the other hand, they have some arcade games zone. So, if you're willing to pay some extra cash until the movie starts then you'll find this useful. It also has a very good location that's surrounded by restaurants and cafes (Panera Bread, Johnny Rockets, Moby Dick, Firehouse Subs, and others). read more

It's definitely not one of the worst movie theaters I have been to but could use some much needed improvements. Some of the bad was we got day old popcorn and maybe I should have thought about getting popcorn for a matinee movie, the other was the auditorium we went to was pitch black and nothing was on the screen, when they finally turned on some of the lights there was sound but no picture on the screen, so before we could say something another person had said something to management about it and luckily it was fixed before the movie started. My last gripe would be the seats and maybe I am spoiled by the recliner seats in some of the other movie theaters, but I feel for the amount you pay to see a movie in theaters they should make a much needed upgrade like better seats. read more

The main bad thing about this theatre is the same with mostly every other theatre, prices. They're food is way overpriced and not very good. Their nachos are way too salty and their pretzels harden pretty fast. Hence, 4 stars. On the bright side, their bathrooms are clean and the tickets lines die down fast when there is one. It's around great places to eat like Johnny Rockets or Bonefish Grill. The worker bees are always friendly and welcoming. 2 tickets, small popcorn, small soda, & bottle of water = $41! This is why I don't go to the theater very often. I do like that I can buy and print my tickets via Fandango and walk right in. Since this is a kid-friendly establishment, getting food and refreshments take forever. Next time I will be smart like my mom and stuff my big bag with my own food and drinks. Seats were pretty comfortable. I used my down jacket for additional comfort. Parking can be a bit crazy since the theater is in a big shopping center. In general I'm getting pretty tired of spending $50 at the movie theaters for uncomfortable seats, sticky floors and old stale popcorn. I would almost rather just wait the three months for it to come out on DVD. The last three visits going to see a late night movie (like Friday night at 9pm) horrible parenting seems to be at it worst as each time at least one couple had brought their toddler to a R rated movie. FIND A BABYSITTER...but I digress. When I asked one of the staff if there was a rule about bringing a 2 year old to a late R rated movie there unfortunately was not. He did say if the child was being disruptive and loud they would ask the parents to leave (and since the child was screaming half way through the movie) the staff member did ask them to leave. The theaters themselves are pretty nice with slightly rocking seats and pretty heavily tiered. They usually keep the temp fairly mild vs. freezing your butt off. It is a nice enough theater but inevitably the audience it attracts especially on the weekends are teens, loud and obnoxious. Only three stars because if given the choice I would rather go to the Kingstown Theater. read more

Been going to Kingtowne Regal for many years and with the Regal Crown card membership you can earn points to get free drinks, popcorn, sweets and even a free movie ticket. Love it!! I have earned many free movie tickets along with drinks and popcorn. Once Springfield Mall opens up In few months (October), the mall will have Regal theater. I like Regal a lot. On my days off I like to catch a movie but they aren't in it for "customer satisfaction"..they are in it for their own wallets which is really disappointing. I'm military and military only gets the "military discount" on full priced tickets after 4:00pm. Then it is absurd that a small drink costs $4.75. I don't think a customer is asking for the moon to see a movie and have a drink...which will come out to be around $15 which is fairly steep. I just wish they would honor their own discounts (and not have restrictions on when discounts are actually allowed) and I wish they would lower their drink prices by a buck or two. read more

It's a standard theater, no reason not to like it...has stadium seating, plush seats, drink holders, close to restaurants and shopping. Lot of teenagers here on weekends, so I'd recommend somewhere else if you prefer not to be around that. The theater and bathrooms are usually very clean. The lines can be a little slow at times and I am not crazy about the popcorn and the butter oil, but I feel that way about all theaters in the area (Hoffman and Potomac Yard included). read more

What a crap hole!! Only came to Kingstowne because Springfield was sold out. Mistake. We reserved seats and paid online prior to coming. Arrived to find trash alllllll over our seats and the floor. Seat was soaked with soda. Spoke to a manager and he tells me that there are only 2 General Managers and they both are cleaning all the theaters. They will get there but it might be after the movie starts. Seriously? Then I ask him if we can select 2 new seats. His response...yes, until the people who reserved them show up, If there are any. It took too long to purchase tickets. There was only 1 cashier. I'd recommend the kiosk start accepting movie passes. The concession cashier argued with me that he already gave me my soda for a good few minutes and then realized that it was still in the drink pouring machine. I recommend a self serving soda machine. The popcorn was dry and nasty. It taste like low fat popcorn with no butter no salt. I usually have good flavor without adding the self serve butter and salt.The nacho cheese was watery. This is always my first and only option for movies since I live really close to the theater!!!! Usually I also dine at the restaurants in Kingstowne. The theater is always clean, the personnel is attentive and respectful and whenever they have the premieres for big movies at midnight, they're really organized and they even do raffles for prizes related to the movie!!! In regards to the prices, there are two things: First, go to the Matinee show (before 5pm) it will cost you $9.00 instead of $11.00. Also, don't go to IMAX movies because you'll have to pay $13.00 or $14.00 for a movie! Go see the regular version!!!! Second: Enroll in the Regal Crown Club. You get points for every single movie you see, for the food you buy at the theater and at the end, you'll get a lot of free stuff and discounts on popcorn, sodas, candies and even free movies (I get a lot of those). Never leave home without your Regal card!! Those are some ways to save when you go to the movies. read more

*3.5* I have a friend that moved down to Lorton, and when we want to go to see a movie we usually pick from this Kingstowne location or the location at Potomac Mills. Firstly, Potomac Mills is the definition of a hot mess: whether its parking, walking inside, or driving in circles around the entire mall, it's always something. I stay far away from Potomac Mills. Kingstowne on the other hand, is less abrasive and less likely to make me want to just turn around and drive all the way home. True, Kingstowne can be overrun with teens sometimes. And trust me, teens bother me. When I'm around teens I feel like a grumpy old fart. I actually want to yell at them and call them hooligans, or scold them and reference the "good old days". But I have been here multiple times, and on weekends there will be cops posted up by the entrance, hopefully keeping behavior under control. At least out of the theater... This is a pretty standard movie theater: plenty of screens, overpriced comestibles, usually friendly service, and nice seats. There are some instances where young children will be let into movies without parents. In one instance, we went to see Iron Man II, and a group of young children (far below the teen age), were moving around in the back and kicking chairs. My friend and the woman next to us turned around and had to scold them. And even then it happened a few more times. No one complained to any worker or management, so I can't hold that against them. Overall a good option for a theater, with plenty of food or shopping options before/after catching a flick. read more

This is a really nice theater. So far it's still relatively new and has not been completely spoiled by the ravages of human civilization. This will only last for so long as the area schools will be getting out soon and the infestation of tweens will spread into the non-peak hours. As far as dinner options around the theater, there are quite a few. During the weekends, this whole shopping center is full. Go during non-peak hours and you should be fine until summer hits. This has all the amenities of the modern theater that one should be accustomed to unlike the old school Multiplex Cinemas. Stadium seating, huge screen, multiple screens showing the movies that you want to see. I still like Hoffman better, but this will be my backup when Hoffman isn't an option. read more

I like this theatre more now that they have finally caught on to the gloriousness of self-serve butter for the popcorn (AMC has been doing this for years!). Not only could I doctor up my popcorn the way I like it (greasy!), but the concession lines moved a Iot faster. Popcorn is still better at AMC, but this theatre location is pretty desirable considering it has a liquor store right across the street. read more

They have the nerve to take your admission money and then (AFTER) taking your money they tell you the manager did not show up and they can't show movie or sell popcorn without him or her opening cash registers! Manager was more than an hour late and didn't call or text his or her employees as to why he or she is late! A terriffic movie theater!!!. A relatively new theater in a great location in Kingstowne, next to several restaurants and shopping. The theater is clean. Stadium style seating is very comfortable. We go to this theater very often. Concession stand is usually well staffed, food is what you typically expect. Definitely recommend getting and using a regal card to accrue points that lead to free sodas, popcorn, and movies. You can get $7 tickets by eating at Johnny Rockets right next door! read more
