Extremely Disappointed: Watch Retuned in Worse Condition I brought my watch to Regency Jewelry based on their glowing Google reviews, hoping for a simple evaluation and estimate on cleaning. I met Bob, who was kind and seemed knowledgeable. He said it would be sent to their "watch guy" and quoted a turnaround time. When I finally got an update, I was told my watch was rusty and probably a fake (Omega). That was a huge red flag showing a lack of knowledge and expertise. Then, when I went to pick it up, the story changed. Now it was probably real but "not worth fixing" because the party's are too difficult to source. Fine. Frustrating, but I accepted that. The real issue: when I got the watch back, the crown fell out, and the watch no longer keeps time. I have them a watch that worked albeit in rough shape, and I received back a non-functioning. No accountability just a shrug and gaslighting. I stayed calm out of respect for Bobs advanced age, but let's be clear: my watch was returned in significantly worse condition than when I brought it in. That's unacceptable. I'd give myself 0/5 stars for taking my watch to Regency. What a mistake that was. read more

I bought these cuff links as a gift from a small shop around SantaBarbara more than 10yrs ago. Wanted them repaired. Took the pair to RJ's - waited a week and returned to get them. I cried, honestly. When he then told me it would be over one thousand to fully repair, I suggested contacting where I originally purchased it from in NY. PLEASE BEWARE! I took an 18K gold ring with tiny diamond side detail in to be sized. After being quoted a week, I followed up and was told it would be another 3 weeks. A month to size a ring seems pretty outrageous but I understood. When I picked up the ring... the diamonds in the side were yellow... the store told me that they were yellow sapphires and always had been. No, not true. Also on the receipt provided by the store themselves, it clearly said gold and diamond. The stones were not even yellow before. After a long lecture from the owner "why would I exchange them... this ring has been very difficult for us to size... it was always sapphire" I gave up. HOWEVER, I took the ring to a very reputable jeweler today who looked at it and said: "what have they done to the diamonds, they have fried them". So... they were not sapphires, they were diamonds that were destroyed during the sizing process. I understand that these things happen and if they had been honest I wouldn't have caused a problem. Just don't lie to my face please! I have ALL of the documentation to prove this, including original receipt plus pick up receipt and photos from regency, and official certification from another jeweler that they are diamonds that had been destroyed during the sizing process. PLEASE do not take anything of value to this jeweler. The fact that they lied to me to cover up their botched job is outrageous. I'm filing a complaint but just wanted to let all my fellow Los Angeleans know about this! read more

After a somewhat 'awkward' start, these people shaped up and the watchmaker did such good repair on my Mother's watch=and in record time-that I'm in total awe. The price was more than fair, although more than the watch was worth-which they made sure I knew. But they all seemed to understand my sentimental attachment and my insanity about the whole process. Now I'm seeking out some other treasure in some thrift store which I can have repaired there-I know they do a great job 'resilvering' and the also do ESTIMATES of jewelry and silver: you have to make an appointment as the person who does it does NOT work for the store, but these people are so professional-THEY BELONG on 5th Ave In NYC, except we need such a first class operation in L.A. They are closed Monday and tuesday i think so call beforehand-I had seen the shop for years and can't express how sad I am that it took me so long to find such a phenomenal place. i have a white gold ring with diamonds that i completely scratched up because i'm a moron and forgot to take it off when i was working out and lifted some dumbbells! argh. (talking about dumbbells... i guess that would be me!) anyway it went from nice pretty shiny to looking worn and weary. then i actually tried to polish it at home with toothpaste, usually that does the trick on metal things but these scratches were just too deep. i took it to a jeweler on hollywood blvd and he said it had to be rhodium plated after it got polished and he didn't have the stuff to do that. so... i yelped it and found regency jewelers. i've passed this place many times zipping down 3rd street in weho while muttering at the slow moving drivers and traffic! i came in, a very lovely lady kay helped me out, they polished the ring and rhodium plated it in 15 minutes. cost was $65. to me that was a little steep (hence... 4 instead of 5 stars), but the job was done quickly, nicely and pleasantly. as others have said, this is a very vintage down home feeling kind of jewelry store. if you're turned on by vulgari, this is not the place for you. but if you just want some earnest one on one old world style service, this is a good place. i don't have much jewelry (i mean what am i, a rapper?!) but if i needed a good fix i would definitely come back here. i would actually try to get a slightly better price next time and see what happens, but they definitely did a good job on this job.... i have seen some negative reviews here. i do know that fixing jewelry is a delicate maybe dangerous task. flames are often involved (if you're sizing!), so there's definitely a risk of ruining or burning a piece. but what i can tell you is my repair here was a simple one, and they did a nice job and were a nice place.... ;-) read more

This was back in the late 90's and Regency has been my go-to jewelry repair and retail shop ever since. I own a lot of vintage pieces, and Regency is able to do cleaning and repairs with the attention to detail, those pieces require. You need look no further for jewelry / watch repair. The screws attaching my heavy stainless steel watch band to the case sheered off flat. I took this watch to six other stores all of which told me they did not have the skills to drill out the old screws, rethread the sockets, and replace them. I sent it to the manufacturer and they returned it to me unrepaired. I spoke to Bob at Regency and sent him an email photo of the problem. He quoted me $50.00. I then brought it in, and one week later it looks like new. Absolutely perfect repair, I could not be happier with the service or the price. read more
