9/22/20 So the clasp opened this Sunday, which is less than a week of having it put on the necklace. I went back today to see if maybe I can have a stronger clasp put on and was happy to pay the difference, but he basically said if you pull it than it'll stretch and open. Basically, it is your fault. But here's the thing...I've had clasps on cheap necklaces from Claire's accessories that have lasted longer than this clasp! This was back when I was a teen and way tougher on my jewelry. I have not been that tough at all. This chain is much longer than most necklaces I own so I naturally have to be more gentle with it because my long hair will get tangled if I'm not gingerly adjusting it. He did reclose the clasp for free but I'm not confident that it will stay close. His solution was to offered to solder it for $10 extra on Thursday. It's Tuesday y'all. And I just would like to wear the necklace without it falling off. Also, unlike my Claire's necklace this one is actually really expensive AND more importantly sentimental. I would like to get what I paid for and not live in fear that it'll snap off suddenly. Sigh, we'll see how long it stays on and if it does 'reopen', I'll take it to a different jeweler....or hell, maybe ill dig up my Claire's necklace and put that clasp on this one! read more

I'm a huge fan of Frank Gehry so when I found a watch he designed for Fossil, I treated myself to it. That watch and I had a beautiful relationship until one day, suddenly, he died. The battery did, anyway. What was I supposed to do? The screws on the back of the watch are impossibly tiny and knowing my graceless, fumbling ass, I'd break my precious watch attempting to replace the battery. So there it sat, cold, scared and alone at the bottom of my jewelry box. Then one day on my way to get my nails done (why the hell would you care about THAT detail? Weirdo) I noticed Rush Hour Watch and Jewelry Repair. It was time to bring out the dead. I walk in and Demitri looks at me. "Yes?" "Uh, I think the battery in my watch is dead." "I can fix."
