Ackee and rice? Oh so nice!
    Brian R.

This is a very legit jerk joint. You can't use "shack" because that screams sand and ocean and this joint is miles inland in a strip mall. The taste can bring a beautiful day in Jamaica to memory though. The food was excellent. Well prepared and perfect spice. The festival was real deal. Most of the people that were coming in were Jamaican. Always a good sign when people come looking for a taste of home. The dining space is very basic fast food high-top. Clean but not attractive or inviting. Likewise, takeaway plates and plastics don't give staying in much joy, unless you don't live nearby. You want this food hot. Low top tables and even a plastic checkered tablecloth or two would help this place's dine-in mojo hugely. Service was very pleasant and kind. It's not like Althea's place, now long gone, that was on the 150 restaurants to eat before you die, that was nearby. It's very businesslike and arms-length. A little Island warmth of spirit for guests not from Jamaica might make for a more crowded place. Parking is easy and ample in their lot.

A bit out of the way for us, but worth a try. I tried the Curry Chicken with cabbage, plantain, red beans and rice. Curry had great flavor, however, my pieces of chicken had very little meat for a medium order. Cabbage not cooked, crunchy and cold...more like salad. One piece of plantain. Rice was ok. My friend's oxtail was full of flavor and meaty. When I approached counter, service person took a call order instead of waiting on me. Could've put them on hold while, me, the customer was in front of you. Will probably stay in our area next time.

It's an average Jamaican Food spot, I had the brown stew chicken, the gravy was thick, the chicken was a bit smoker than what I expected, the favor was good on the chicken and rice and peas. The meal comes with cabbage which is good but served room temp. My boyfriend ordered the curry shrimp and rice, it didn't come like the menu said, but similar and seasoned well. The venue was decent, clean and typical store front restaurant. They offer a variety of Caribbean drinks and side dishes. The Staff was ok, straight to the point and not that welcoming but average. They played a bit of music in the background and they had a few televisions for viewing. It wasn't too crowded they have bar style, high top and table style seating. It's not bad but it's not amazing either.

Best Jamaican place! Great prices and service. I got the rice and peas with fried chicken. The sauce is great.

He comes there all the time. This was a good sign. You order and pay at the back food counter. You may have to wait in line as they are popular. The menu is posted on the wall. We both ordered the brown stew chicken lunch special. It comes with rice n peas and veggies. And a can of soda of your choice. The thick rich gravy was wonderful -- slightly sweet -- over the cut up, tender (but on the bone) chicken pieces and the rice. The "peas" here in the rice are small red beans. We got a bit of extra gravy on the rice. The veggies are sauteed cabbage with a few carrot pieces. We had no leftovers. The portion was just perfect. And lunch for two was under $20. We can't wait to return. I'm hoping to try the curry next time.

I sat in an open dining room, as there was just one couple there with the same idea as me for dinner, and I was quickly greeted by a pleasant waitress, who, while she didn't appear to be from Jamaica, definitely was pleasant enough to be granted honorary citizenship to the popular tourist destination. After studying their extensive menu, opted for their crusted salmon entree which was served with traditional rice & peas and steamed veggies. The dish came with a sweet sauce for the salmon but my recommendation would be to order a side of their jerk sauce to add to your dinner. It makes a huge difference and who goes to a Jamaican restaurant and doesn't get something Jerk related. Overall the dinner was ok...not stellar but it did hit the spot and I probably would give this restaurant another visit to try something else on the menu.

Dishes are numbered next to their pictures on the wall so if language is a problem that may help. I'd wanted to order the fried fish, but didn't want to wait the extra 20 minutes to get it, so wound up getting the fried chicken. Portions are large. The meal came with two chicken legs fried crispy. And a huge amount of beans and rice. The beans are the small red kind. There are also very spicy pickled onions and peppers plus some spicy slaw and a small container of sauce. The sauce is flavorful -- red and not spicy and made a great dip and was good to pour over the rice, too. Everything was delicious. My husband had their fried goat. The meat was cut in small pieces and very tender. There were very few bones. He had the same sides. Both meals also came with plantains -- the fresh mashed and fried kind -- like a big plain tostone. For a drink, my husband got their passion fruit juice. They also have two other kinds along with various island sodas and even Diet Coke.
