Never go to this place. They are scamming people by not printing your actual vehicle registration and then trying to charge you $28 to fix their "mistake." I have used this registry for four years and just realized they have never actually given me my printed registration documents. When I went back to get the missing paper, they checked security footage. The video proved they only handed back my licence, insurance, and receipt. Instead of fixing it, the employee was incredibly condescending and asked if I even knew what registration looked like. I have been driving for 35 years. They refused to print it unless I paid an extra fee. Check your paperwork before leaving, or better yet, avoid this dishonest business entirely. read more

After waiting for a considerable time, I was told that the first person I talked to could not do my calmly asked for request. She said I would have to go back and wait. So I did and saw a friend and we chatted while we both waited. The fellow at table or booth 3 called and I told him the same request and he says in his thick accent very loudly over and over again that they have never done that there. I said I know they did because they are the only registry I use and I had this service decades ago. He was very loud then and shouted I to his microphone. Bad manners and rude. If they do t do this anymore then he could have quietly said so instead of trying to embarrass me. Which he didn't but it gave me a distinct dislike and I will never go back here again. I had a very unpleasant and unsatisfactory experience at Marda Loop Registry. I attempted to transfer a vehicle using a fully completed and signed Alberta vehicle transfer form. The staff counter person that served me was dissatisfied with the neatness of the form and she refused to process the transfer. She was rude and made contradictory comments regarding the content of the form. In the end, I went to New Urban Registry on 10th Ave SW where the transfer was successfully completed. As you can see by all the other 1 star reviews this place is TERRIBLE!!! First of all yes the manager I believe her to be middle Eastern decent with short cut hair, she is by far the rudest ignorant person I have dealt with at a registry. First I came in with 15 minutes left, she was helping other people( who were immigrants and didn't speak the best English, I could over hear her basically mocking them and being very unhelpful and harsh towards this new family) I proceeded to wait in line until the next employee could help me. I walked up to the counter my goal was to switch over from a BC to Alberta lisense. He then asked then asked the manager if there was enough time, I responded to him by saying "this a government facility funded by taxpayers so if the doors are open I will be getting what I need done" The manager lady responded by saying "this a private establish and we don't have to serve you if we don't want to so you can leave" Even her other employees didn't know what to do buddy just stood there with my lisense in his hand asking her if he should help me still. To which she replied simply "NO" with a rude smirk on her face. The fact that this lady is the main face for this registry is very disturbing. They open later then many others locations and for that I love it here. The team here is very knowledgable. I met the owner and he is super friendly. I would highly recommend coming here. I would rate lower if I could. I had called to find out what I needed to apply for a death certificate. When I finally arrived at the front the clerk was polite but hard to hear. she turned to the left to ask the rudest man that I have encountered in a people business. He said no I could not apply, I brought in what I was told, he yells at me tell me who told you that point them out! I said I didn't understand, he said I needed my parents birth certificate. I started to say my parents were not born here, before I could finish saying they were both passed away and born in Europe he started yelling again at me I didn't ask you where they were born!! I really hate this plaza, mainly because there is never anywhere to park and 3/4 of the spots are reserved for Union Station customers. I know there is just a car accident waiting to happen in here. Because of this, I normally frequent other registries, but I was nearby and my registration was in my purse, just begging to get renewed so I stopped in after work. Now this registry also houses a Canada Post outlet, so that is cool, the post office side is nice and clean and the guy who works the counter after work has been really friendly in the past. I hadn't ever paid much attention to the registry side before, when i entered there were 6 attendants behind the desk being screamed at in Hungarian by an old man. I think he wanted to use a washroom. Immediately it just seemed dirtier on the registry side, there was a now serving light box and no sanctions to show where to queue and just lots of chairs. So I didn't know if I had to take a number (didn't see where you would grab that) or if anyone else was waiting in line. Fearing that I would also be screamed at in Hungarian, I kind of huddled by the door until a woman told me it was ok to step forward. The weird thing about this registry is that they don't have the giant price list behind the counter like they do in EVERY other registry. It also doesn't have the reminder written on the handy absent sign that payment can only be made in cash or debit. The woman who served me was fine, but she was very quiet, I had to lean over the counter to hear her. She tripled checked my info though before completing the renewal. My fiancé came here to update his license and a month later he got a letter from registry services saying whoever filled out his application forgot to include our apartment number and had to go back. Least I won't have that worry. I don't know what it is about this place, but it just feels...wrong. i like my registry offices to be sparkling with a clear place to line up and to be hit over the head with the registry's authority. You get the impression it is every employees first week on the job, though I am sure it is not. As I left, it turned out the Hungarian old man had taken a seat on the chairs and he got up to give round two as I hurried out the door, license plate sticker in hand. read more

This is my only place for a registry experience in Calgary ~ so take review with a grain of salt. Not usually too busy, and if they are the waits haven't been too bad. I've put a car and a motorcycle through here - one out of province. The location is the craps re: parking however, but that's just the lot. The street seems to be fine & dandy. Staff is kind of detached in terms of friendliness however, I wasn't there for a playdate so "whatevs". Based on my overall feeling of the location/treatment/pricing I'm a Meh on this one. I've used them for everthing registry related since I came to Canada. I got my first ID Card here and then Driver's Licence. I also got my Marriage License and then my Marriage Certificate here. I was also able to order my Daughters birth certificate here. Misha the owner has always been helpful and always showed patience with all my questions. It is also convient that there is a post office in the same space with them. I also understand they do lean checks on vehicles. I'll use this when I'm ready to buy a vehicle. Made a particular trip to get my ID renewed, using a taxi for the first time in months. 1 star for following COVID precautions. One of the staff members was being very helpful to other customers. Person who served me was unhelpful and in the end provided me with incorrect information, seemed unaware of concerns around COVID, and extraordinarily unsympathetic. It's sort of a given that registration for vehicles is an annoying task, but this place goes out of their way to put you in your place. I didn't have an insurance item so I had to wait for my insurance to email me. The customer service guy told me to go to the back of the line and I didn't respond sourly, and then repeated it three more times and then asked his colleague standing in the public space to make sure I would go back to the line. I got angry then. Ok, you may feel powerful with this passive agressive power tripping maneuver, but really? You're renewing my license plate buddy, you don't need to take out all of my emotional energy in the process. read more

The management here is awful! We were just waiting in line to do an address change on our license. And the manager left the counter, pushed the back door open and said to an employee "I want to talk to you". Before the door even closed he was yelling at her. The entire line up kept waiting while we could hear him yelling at her. Culture starts at the top. The rude staff everyone is complaining about clearly have learned this culture from the managers & owners. And I imagine it's difficult to be polite after you've just been bullied and abused by your boss. We left before the yelling stopped. The worst experience at a registry ever. I was ignored, not given a receipt until sitting at the desk with the manager for almost an hour. poor service and harassment by the female clerk. I recommend going to a different location if you want decent service at all. The female clerk would only speak to my husband even though I was the client. Found the experience insulting, rude, unnecessarily harassing, embarrassing and all over a negative experience. Was accused of cheating on a drivers exam and the female clerk refused to show me any proof and threatened me, however she was quite nice to my husband. Interesting. Would give zero stars if possible. Call ahead for Commissioner of Oaths for Dower Consent, told she is in all day but may take lunch for an hour. What time? "Oh, whenever she feels like it". Can I book an appointment? No. Show up, wait in line one hour. One look at form and she hands it back - "I don't do that". Ok, thanks for the human service specialization. So, why won't you witness a Dower Consent? "I just don't do them." Ok, I called ahead, told them what I needed, the form says a Commissioner of Oaths can witness, but you just won't do it? I am so disappointed in my recent experience at this Registry. With infant in tow, I attended here to complete a Name Change Application. After waiting 20 minutes, I was informed the manager was the only person who can process these applications and since he was on break I'd have to wait (he was hanging out in the front office). When I questioned why only one staff member could process this application (it was completed by me and required no assistance other than to be processed), the staff member was incredibly rude. With a crying infant, i wasn't able to wait yet another 20 minutes for the Manager to finish his break. I am still shocked at how rude they were. Very disappointed and will not return! read more

I booked my Class 5 Advanced road test by calling in Registry at Marda Loop and it was smooth and quick. 'Muhammad' (#03749) was the examiner. About half way through the test, we were in a residential area. I saw 2 kids chasing each other right at the verge of the curb which obviously was a hazard so I stopped at the T intersection. After it's safe to proceed, he asked me 'why did you stop, did you see the Stop sign on the side road?' I said I did. Before I could say anything more about the 2 kids, he cut me off saying it wasn't my stop sign and I shouldn't have stopped. I tried to explain what happened but he insisted I misread the stop sign. When the full test hour was up, he told me I failed because I 'obstructed traffic'. Then he said 'you can do the test again tomorrow. You wanna do it tomorrow?'. On the test score sheet, he deducted 30 point for the situation above and 5 points for signalling late; the failing threshold is 75. Among questions I don't have answers for are: 1. 'Proceeding' is more important than kids' safety? 2. How would it constitute 'obstructing traffic' if there was no car behind? 3. If I had 'failed' as he claimed, why didn't he stop the test on the spot? There would have been no point of continuing; 4. Does a day make the whole difference between pass and fail (he asked me to re-take the test the next day)? The only difference I can see is I will pay him another $141 fee. I went to this registry because of its 'good' online reviews and naively thought that would imply decent service standards. So I even shrugged off the fact my friend had another bad experience there last year because 'he had a different examiner'. Who would have thought this registry is consistently plagued by rude, low/no class, money grabbing examiners (the clerk who made the reservation for me said 'he's the nicer one (of the 2)'. Also a tip for other road test takers - book through http://www.albertadriverexaminer.ca; you get to choose a specific registry and schedule a time convenient to you, even cheaper $114 vs. $141 at Marda Loop. read more

I took my road test here years ago, and to this day, I regret having even used this registry. The first time I did my road test, I was put with an older lady. While I don't expect people to be overly joyous when they're testing me, she was quite unpleasant to deal with. Throughout the test, she kept making rude comments about other drivers on the road. She seemed more focused on other drivers than on me, and I seriously doubt she was paying any attention to me. She just seemed like a very negative person honestly. When we came back, she informed me that I failed because I put my blinker on too early to change lanes, and I sped in a playground zone (I didn't). It was such an obvious money grab, but whatever. I booked another test with the man at the front desk for the following Friday. I showed up on the Friday for my test, and I waited nearly half an hour for anyone to acknowledge me. Finally, the same man I booked the appointment with told me I had actually booked for Thursday. I told him I spoke to him last week, and that I would not have booked on Thursday as I was in class on Thursday. He was very dismissive, and after some back and forth, his manager came by and agreed to let me do the test on Sunday, no extra charge. I was there for almost 2 hours, which made me even more aggravated. The only positive that came from this experience was the man I took the test with on Sunday. He was such a lovely person. We chatted while I did my test, which made me less nervous, and he actually paid attention to me unlike the other lady. I wish I had him in the first place, as I would have nicer things to say about this registry. As I took my picture for my license, the same man who I had argued with only 2 days ago told me "I think you should've passed the first time" and winked at me. He goes from yelling at me to flirting with me, like what?! Unless it's absolutely necessary, use another registry. I mean it. read more

I felt like I was being reprimanded for lacking the preferred documentation even though my alternative documentation was surely sufficient -- if a lease agreement is acceptable (as I was told it was) then what I provided was even more substantive. Terrible service, waited a half hour (and I was next in line to be served), only to be told they could not process a simple corporate registration renewal. The only person "qualified" to do it was at lunch..... It's a registry and there were two people at the desk, who apparently do not have the qualifications to provide all the services they advertise. And then there was the manager sitting in his office eating and watching videos the whole time.... Thought initially it would be quick based on few customers - based on watching them being served verrrrry slowly, I should have left but I hung in there, only to very disappointed. Also, gross premises - ratty counters, dirty floor, stuffy and smelly air. Will not go back and highly recommend you go anywhere else. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I took an elderly friend here to get an Alberta ID card since she did not have a driver's license. We went twice and both times the staff on the front desk said she didn't have the proper identification to issue the card. They were totally unhelpful and dismissive and were prepared to make her come back a third time. The lady is 89 and finds it hard to get around. We ended up going to the Signal Hill Registry where the staff looked after her quickly and treated her like a human being. Don't ever go to this registry! read more

I will never go to this place again. It's a dump. The staff are shady. The desk is torn and unsightly with no effort to fix it. It's on the main road in Marda Loop! It's an embarrassment. I waited a long time even though I had the next number in line for 25 minutes! There seemed to be some trouble with the two customers that were being helped, like the attendants didn't know what to do. The "Take a ticket" machine was broken. There were two male employees wandering around with coffee making no effort to help even though there were many people waiting who had come in after me. I tried to register my vehicle. My pink slip for insurance had expired 5 days previously so I didn't get my car registered. There was no way around it; the attendant first said "I don't have time to call your insurance." I said "I waited a long time, what about my time?" Then her story changed to "I'm not allowed to call." Which is true? Neither? I wish I'd looked at the other reviews first. read more

The staff at this location are absolutely incompetent. We took my mother in law to get her AB ID as well as to transfer her Sask medical to AB, and it was a complete disaster. We ended up having to go back at least 6 times to sort it all out. Very unhelpful! The Notary there (Maza) was so rude. There was an issue with the ID (not surprising with documents from 1937), and they were supposed to call us with any issues. They did NOT call. We had to go back three times just to try to get in to see the AHC lady and get it all straightened up. There are many other Registries to choose from, so I strongly suggest you do NOT choose this one. It's like the sloths working at the DMV! read more

I had a terrible experience trying to get my Class 5 driver's license here. I had a great road test, was doing everything right (scanning, stopping for pedestrians etc.) - the instructor even made me parallel park between two pick up trucks and I did it perfectly (even though I was told they would never ask you to parallel with another car in behind). When its over, we get back to the tightly packed little parking lot near the registry, and he marks down that I automatically-failed because after turning right on a red light into a park lane and then signalling to get into the available driving lane I "cut someone off and he was mad". I am dumbfounded because I was doing it by the book, and the guy I supposedly cut off was speeding. There goes $90 - what a cash grab. read more

Worst registry ever. What should have been a celebratory moment for me quickly was turned into the worst day ever. I had just passed my learners and went back up to the desk of Wasim (Manager) took my payment and did my visual test before telling me that he would have to take my ID card. I asked how long till the actual one comes in the mail he said about 10 days. I asked if I could come back because I had a function to go to and I most likely would need my ID. He said "being a drunk or getting your learners, you decide what's more important". I told him that there has to be something against that, that I need my ID card. He said "you can skip the bar for 10 days"... He was being completely unreasonable, prejudiced, rude and more. He pulled out the RACE card a couple times. He than said "you are banned from my shop". Just because I challenged him when he was already coming off rude he said some pretty hurtful things. Probably will launch some sort of formal complaint on this matter too. My son purchased a motorcycle in the SunAlta area and the Marda Loop registry was the most convenient. I was very reluctant to go, with all the bad reviews. We didn't complete the sale, until 7 PM and the registry was conveniently open to 8 PM. We were the only customers and we were looked after, with courtesy and efficiency. My son was even asked, if the plate selected was OK. Two more customers entered during our visit. We live further south, but if I am in the area, I will certainly use this location. read more

Worst customer service I have ever received. I went to register a vehicle for my family member after they gave me wrong information previously. I filled my name out on the wrong spot and the document became null and void. Instead of trying to help me they told me to please leave their registry because I was upset and I had asked them to please make an exception as it was a very small error. I kept asking the lady at the front to give me a new form and the horrible man "in charge" told me to leave the registry and would not give me a new form. He said "I dont deal with angry and swearing customers" even though I never swore at all, I just asked what they could do to help me with this situation. The lady I was dealing with was going to try and help me and then the man said to her, "if you help her, I will fire you". Obviously I walked out of there shocked and in disbelief that this man had treated me like this. PLEASE PLEASE never use this registry if you want fair and helpful service. It was beyond awful and I hope no one has to deal with, what I dealt with. It felt as though I was a second class citizen. read more

I have used this registry for personal and corporate business for almost three years. The staff are generally unpleasant and not fully trained in all aspects of registry business year after year. If you ask anything they snap back and are very unfriendly even though they may not know the correct answer or process. The office itself is run down, unattractive and small. They seem satisfied to make everyone's experience unpleasant and longer than necessary. I have used them for the very last time. I will be going to the AMA or another registry. read more

They're so close and convenient that it's a shame we now refuse to set foot in there. Not only are they rude, but they've demonstrated more than once that they don't know what they're doing. On more than one occasion, they've informed us that they're unable to provide the services we request because of some rule or other. Now, that would be fine if the rules were real. We've taken our business to other registries and have been told that Marda Loop Registry is incorrect, and the other registries have happily served us. It's been years since we were there. But today, my husband was in a hurry and thought he'd give them another chance, since they're in the neighbourhood. Sure enough, they started to give him the runaround, so he gathered up his stuff and headed to the registry out at Signal Hill, where he was promptly served, with no problems whatsoever.
