A wonderful late seating at Registry Bistro. The room is large with high ceilings and subtle lighting; marvelous large canvasses with an almost Diego Rivera-feel to the art. Valet parking on a rainy night was helpful since there is little street parking and the public lot was full. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The menu was typed (small) and printed in a 8" square book form - bring your reading glasses. The wine and cocktail lists were extensive, with a few wine options by the glass. The starters and dinner choices were original, understandable, and beautiful to view/wonderful to taste! Prior reviews recommended the Scotch Olives, a perfect lightly fried, breaded green olive with a light saffron sauce for dipping. The Trout entree, offered with or without head and tail, was meticulously filleted leaving the fish intact and beautifully displayed on the pristine white plate. Dime and nickel-sized Rutabaga rounds offset the plated presentation perfectly. The 8 oz. skirt steak was thicker cut than expected and cooked to perfection as medium rare - seared, firm and red, not bloody. A dark chocolate bombe' with chocolate shavings and freshly-made pistachio ice cream was a small enough serving to complete the meal without being overwhelming and was perfect for a romantic sharing. The only offset to a lovely evenings as the noise level at the peak of the dinner; a difficult situation to control with two story open ceilings and concrete floors - all beautifully appointed but perfect for sound reverberation. A thank you to the chef for a fabulous meal and to the young waiter Neil (for Neil Young) who managed to appear at appropriate times without being bothersome, brush away crumbs and present/clear dinnerware unobtrusively. A very happy several hours with a pile of friends. The menu isn't really setup as tapas but that's what we did and the staff helped us make it happen. Everything we ate was wonderful, but we were particularly charmed with the cashews, the capers on the butcher's board, the bacon jam on the same board, the Winter Classic and Divine Rabbit cocktails, and the paintings on the wall. The space is SO BEAUTIFUL and so are the staff. I loved that it was so not crowded but that makes me sad for them - and for everyone who is at some other place eating less delicious things with no sinister rabbits staring at them from the walls. read more

The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. The brie for an appetizer was very good. We both had mixed green salads and they were adequate. Overall my wife and I enjoyed the dinner but we were not overwhelmed. We would go back here with friends because of the overall look and feel of the restaurant but nothing about the meal is going to take me back there specifically for the food. read more

We discovered Registry on Yelp while passing through Toledo to see an exhibit at the Museum of Art. The restaurant was a great find! It is owned by a mother-daughter team and opened in June 2012. The postiives include the menu and food preparation. It was very fresh and deliciously prepared. The downsides are the simple decor and the noise level. I would recommend eating at Registry to a friend visiting the city. You just have to be prepared for the cement floors, sparse art, hard surfaces which don't absorb any sound. read more

Oh My! I was just reminded why I love The Registry! A bottle of merlot is always a great start. The scallops rockefeller were absolutely amazing! A little peppery paired with guanciale and topped with a nicely browned topping that would make shoe leather taste good . My main course was the moroccan braised fall off the bone Goat shank with a perfectly cooked oat rissoto, sweet carrots and bursts of pomegranate seeds. As other yelpers have stated, this is 4 stars for Toledo. I thought the restaurant décor was really neat- industrial, super high ceilings, a lot of concrete and wood. I think the menu changes, so I was sad to see that the naan pizza wasn't available (it was on whatever menu was uploaded to Yelp). Besides that, service was good and everything I tried was pretty good. The duck salad was a really fun combination of flavors, and I particularly liked my mocktail. Some of the menu is on the pricey side, but there a lot of tapas style dishes for sharing in groups. The craft cocktails looked pretty fun. All in all, I would say this is a good place for girls night, date night, or maybe a celebration. read more

My husband and I were in town for business + Valentines day. I looked around for fine dinning places and found this place... We're very happy with our experience! This restaurant is great! I love the decor, the food is outstanding and staff is friendly, polite and very efficient. I give this place a 10. It was valentines night, we didn't have reservations and were lucky to have a table to sit at the bar area. We had the shrimp meatballs and soup as appetizers, beet, mango avocado salad and ahi tuna and sea bass as main dishes. Everything was delicious. To finish up we had the desert for two, great choice! Took my mother here before the ballet last week and was not disappointed. The service was very good and prompt, my only request would be to space the salad and main dish a bit more (but I am a slow eater). Dinner was good, and the portions were good, however I lost my mind when it came to dessert. They were featuring a maple pots de creme which had an unreal flavor profile, such pure maple flavor that translated on the lush custard beautifully. My new favorite dinner choice in Toledo. Love the Scotch Olive. The Grilled Oyster is to die for! Never have a bad meal here. However I can't say the same for service. Avoid this old white guy with eye glass on his head. Very nasty guy. I had him once that just ruin all the good food I had. He looks like a veteran waiter who know how to take care of his customers but boy that I was wrong. The dude was so arrogant and mean. My husband and I came here with another couple that was visiting from Florida. The ambiance of this restaurant is very chic - industrial, yet cozy and romantic. It would be a great place to grab a drink and people watch! We enjoyed our meals, but the portions were on the smaller size. I personally don't mind that - I don't need a caveman sized plate to feel like I'm getting a good value - but wished our service had been a little more attentive, and that the food stood out a little more. I created an account just to write this review. I've eaten at 3 Michelin star restaurants around the country, and maybe I'm just expecting too much for Toledo. I called several weeks before I intended to dine, explaining that I had additional allergies aside from those listed on the menu, asking if they could be accommodated since it was a special occasion meal. They took my name and number but never called back. Two weeks later I called again and was told they were accommodating and to let my server know. Upon arrival, the hostess told us they were trying to "hurry some earlier seatings along" to turn over tables and directed us to the bar. Where we waited 45 minutes. For a reservation. My husband said something but the server brushed us off without an apology. We ordered a butcher's board, which the server did check on the allergens for us. But then they crumbled buttered toast all over the salumi, rendering the whole thing a hazard for me. Apparently his soup was very good. The server suggested the winter salad for me, with the feta omitted. The dressing was unidentifiable as "poppyseed" and the lettuce looked like it came out of a bag from the grocery premixed and was wilted. I had to pick several brown leaves out, as they were inedible. For the main, the server suggested the night's special, a seafood soup in a red broth. Now, this is partially my fault, but I ordered "the special, the cioppino." There IS a veggie "cioppino" on the regular menu, which I obviously got confused with the "tomato based fish soup," which the server suggested allergy accommodations for. But I also said "the special" and she didn't clarify. So the soup was a disaster. It smelled overwhelmingly of cabbage, owing to an abundance of bok choi. The broth had no depth. It wasn't even good as a vegetable soup. And it was $14. My husband did say that his tenderloin was one of the best he's had, and was a perfect medium rare. For dessert she did bring us a plate of French macarons that she comped. I make better at home. The shells were soft and gooey (?) and the filling was firm, making the mouth feel all wrong. I ordered the cardamom cake, and she didn't hear me apparently. So we had to ask for it when she brought us the bill. It was good, but too sweet. My husband said his panna cotta was good but nothing extraordinary. The whole meal took 2.5 hours. I've had 15 course meals take less time. The service was slow. The server never checked back on us or asked how anything was. When my husband repeatedly voiced displeasure, it was ignored. To top it all off, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom when we went to leave. Talk about adding insult to injury. We will never go back and will suggest others not go either. read more

Visited the Registry Bistro for the first time last night and enjoyed the evening. We walked in on a Friday night around 9:00 without a wait (there were no activities at the Huntington Center). The atmosphere/building is 5 star, trendy, urban chic and warm. The round of cocktails were great, including the house specialty smoked maple Manhattan. The scotch olives are a delicious appetizer and the Chicken dinner is full of flavor and a hint of fire (a bit of a kick in each bite .... the mole). My husband ordered the steak and it was good. He figured out that he just isn't a fan of the smoked flavor on a steak and the cut was not as tender as expected. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall experience was delightful and we will return. read more

The Roasted Pumpkin Hummus was phenomenal....trying to think how to include in my T-giving menu. Both the Turtle Potpie and the Diver Scallops were yummy, but over salted. The Dessert Sampler for Two was phenomenal...don't bother ordering anything else!! Service was attentive and friendly. This is my all time favorite restaurant in the Toledo area. I love the modern decor and lively decorations. Best of all is the food. I had the lamb on my last visit and it was melt in your mouth good. I also had a chance to enjoy their Butchers block. I was not only shocked but filled with joy at eh selection it contained. This restaurant by far out weighs any I have ever been to in the area.! Dined for the first time last night and will be back. Wine list is different and the waiter was familiar with the selections. Appetizers were creative and sophisticated. Oysters buttery and fresh. Plenty of options in all categories for the vegetarian with us, as well. Really enjoyed the molasses salad dressing. Balanced so as to not be too sweet with fresh cheese curds and roasted beets. By the main course I was pretty full but the pork cheeks and the oat risotto were favorites at the table. We couldn't force ourselves to do dessert but will have to save room next time. I think the building and French doors ambience is great. The food was terrible, lacked flavor and my friend's steak was served raw not even rare when ordered medium. The cocktails are supposed to be the new trend of herbal infused fresh squeezed retro drinks. You know where some hipster talented bartender creates a drink that is not over powering with alcohol. This place is a waste of money and a disappointment. For this type of food trends around this area so far Revolver ( now closed) was the best. The menu is limited, but like all similar places, it typically is. Get ready to branch out and have some duck or something you can't quite pronounce, but no worries because it will taste amazing!
