    winter specials
    Erin E.

We came in on a Friday night around 8 o'clock, expecting it to be busy, there were people in there, but it wasn't crazy. We decided to sit at the bar, Amber was GREAT. She made me a margarita from scratch. It was tart and sharp and not overly sweet. My husband got a few glasses of wine. They don't have a huge wine selection, but it' gets the job done. They do have an array of draft beer with a lot of local pours on tap. They feature a special winter food menu, and they do have a happy hour specials with two dollars off appetizers plus drink discounts. Their happy hour runs until seven which is pretty late. But let's talk about the food... I didn't have high expectations for ordering seafood. at chain spot in the Midwest are from the ocean, but we were pleasantly surprised. My husband gotten an enormous plate of muscles and shrimp served in the most delicious white wine sauce. They add just a perfect amount of Parmesan and tiny diced tomatoes. I would drink that sauce with a straw and be happy. It would be great served over an angel hair pasta. I'm sure we could order it that way. Now for this true star of the show. The lobster roll! They serve two lobster rolls on a plate, it is market price. It is Pre portioned and Pre weighed. When it hits the table, it looks very underwhelming. To be honest, I would rather them serve it on one role and make the role slightly larger. Serving it on two rolls makes it look empty and disappointing. I piled everything onto one of the rolls and it was perfect! This was hands-down the best lobster roll I've had in Ohio. And it still hit the top five total. The lobster was perfectly cooked, the butter sauce was rich and delicious. It had the perfect amount of mayo. The roll itself was grilled and garlic to perfection with a soft interior. Every bite was better than the last. The empty roll, served as a great way to mop up some of the delicious sauce off my husband's plate. Wednesday nights they do all you can eat shrimp. The price and the quality are fantastic. This is right next to the hospital, the fact that they aren't swamped at 7:15 with people getting off of their shifts is shocking to me. We live in old Orchard and could easily ride our bikes over here, have a few drinks and head home in the summer. We are definitely looking forward to coming back. We don't typically frequent a lot of chains regularly, but this is definitely going to be the exception to that rule!

All spirits and liquors are made in house. When we visited, they had their brunch menu going on which switches for dinner at 4pm. Will was our bartender and I could not have nicer things to say about him! He sparked up some casual conversation with us, answered some questions we had, and made some great recommendations on drinks! He mentioned their two most popular brunch drinks were the Espresso Martini & Benton's Old Fashioned. We ordered both and WOW! Such a balanced cocktail, nice presentation, and great flavors. Their dinner menu was currently inspired by well known novels which previewing the menu had me wanting to come back. Such a fun spot with unique offerings you won't find at other spots in Toledo. Must try!

With a hang out in the basement feel. Staff is friendly and willing to help. Hot dogs are ok, would prefer a warm bun. We have been here a couple of times now. I think they have great cocktails. Well made, beautiful, pricing is decent for the most part. I love the to go Strawberry Lemonade. It was perfect for summer boat rides. We also love the THC soda. Great flavor. We do not live in the area but we stop in everytime we are.

They had an amazing cocktail menu so I ordered the "Kiwi do you live me" drink and it was delicious! When we arrived the host? Not sure who he was just starts talking about the only seats at the bar. Didn't get a word in edgewise to say hey I have a reservation. We were the only folks sitting at the bar so ok. So back to where I was. 40 minutes later sitting directly at the bar trying to make eye contact and caught a server finally to take our order. Now 4 more folks came n sat at the bar. Somehow their food order got taken and before ours. My man is ticked and about to leave. Ordered a pearmosa which is a woodchuck cider not a mimosa to me. We got a waffle (cold), bacon, grits and the seafood grits. Most were cold. Butter just melted and that's after I heated it up next day. The flavor of the food was good. Just not proper temp, service sucked and the parking sucks. Limited street parking or pay to park lots. Im going to give them some time to grow before trying again. Two words for this black owned establishment. Do better

This bar has been here probably as long as I've been in Toledo and that's over 15 years. When you walk in you see this beautiful bar made out of wood. I don't know who made it but it is gorgeous. They have a nice selection of alcohol for cocktails and Sutter Home type wine. Even a few craft beers for me. They have special events like jazz on Thursday for free with free appetizers and host comedy events on occasion. Only problem is you have to search it out. They don't do a great job of advertising. Now this place has a reputation of being a primarily black bar but I have seen folks of all ethnicities here and they are welcome. The bartenders are semi-friendly depending who you get. Prices are like you would expect being near downtown. AKA overpriced. But the bathrooms are clean and the atmosphere is nice. Come check it out
