We were an hour early to the music theatre down the street and the temperature was around -9°C. Time for something warm while we wait. Absolute pleasure bumping into this shoppe. Roomy, cozy, with only a modest number of guests and beautiful music in the background. It was easy to have an hour long conversation here. Mrs. E. ordered and devoured her staple hot chocolate. I started with an iced coffee then came to my senses and had them make me a Turkish coffee (I'm an old fan of the Turkish kava). A phenomenal brew. We can in on a snowy day for yap and coffee. The baristas were nice and checked through our orders. The pastry was so beautiful and was warmed. the latte was delish:) a little pricey but i mean look it's beautiful. A coffee and a cappuccino (made like a latte instead) was around $13 after tip. We sat at the window and watched cars dip through the snow. Good news is it was warm inside even by the windows. Just a little too quiet but that's why we yap. Took over my favorite Goldfish tea spot. Decor is nice. There's a closed glass door conference room. The blue chairs look cool, but aren't that comfy. Ordered a Biscoff latte with oat milk, green tea and a mango mousse, shaped like a mango. $23.29 The mango mousse exterior is hard as heck, made of white chocolate. Can't break into it, had to saw at it to get it open or start a fracture to get at the interior. It's an interesting mousse and mango puree inside of the mango. Not my thing, since I am not a big fan of white chocolate much. The mousse isn't bad, puree is different. The green tea is good, unique, spiced nicely too. The Biscoff latte tastes like Biscoff. Hubby likes the flavor of it. Good spot for coffees and maybe teas too. The Green tea and Biscoff are worth a return. read more

My family and I stumbled upon Rehla's while wandering Downtown Royal Oak, and we're so glad we did. It's a cozy little spot with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff greeted us right away, and our order came out quickly. We started with the Mofawar ($4), which arrived steaming hot and fragrant. The coffee had a smooth, rich flavor with a lovely hint of cardamom that gave it a warm, spiced aroma. We also tried the Yemeni Honeycomb Pastry ($7), which was absolutely delicious. Each small dough ball was filled with melted cheese and drizzled with a light, sweet syrup that balanced the savory filling beautifully. The texture was soft and slightly chewy. This place is so beautiful! The colors and atmosphere of the place are so rich. I like that it has a study/meeting room and plenty of seating space for large groups. They have so many pretty pastries. I really liked the tiramisu cake! The tea was delicious too. The staff aren't the friendliest though. They look bored and aren't very welcoming. Great cafe just off main street. Greeted right away and many suggestions and explanations of ingredients of drinks as well as pastries upon request. The vibe is great!!! SO much seating and a lovely variety. Outside tables. Bar seating at windows. Couches. Chairs. Tables. Small and large. Love the leave a book, take a book section in back and plant wall above couch. I tried a Mofawar coffee and it was delicious. Sipped my friend's pistachio latte which had incredible flavor and artwork but needed to be hotter. She tried the cinnamon roll croissant which had a buttery cream filling. I liked their honeycomb better and loved they will willing to serve the honey on side for me. I ordered the Adeni Tea and it reminded me of a Masala tea with the spices and creamy texture. They were very sweet to offer an alternative if I didn't like my option after taste testing. But I didn't need to. Ambiance - The color scheme, the lighting, spaciousness and music really add to the vibe. Great place to work or get together with someone. Was finally able to try Rehla coffee. I had been wanting to try their Turkish Coffee. Wow! What a treat! Their shop looks terrific! My Turkish Coffee was amazing! It has a deeper, richer taste than regular coffee and has something else that I can't quite describe but adds that something that takes the coffee to the next level! I also had a Danish with pistacchio...it was way better than most Danish. It had a crispier crust that had a buttery-sweet depth to it. Give them a try! read more
