I absolutely love this store! I could easily spend hours in REI. The customer service is always top notch and I have never once had a negative experience here. I tend to shop at REI more so than other bike shops or outdoor stores because of their membership program. You pay a one time $25 fee and from there on out you get 10% of each purchase returned to you once annually. I like knowing every purchase I make that I'm getting money back in return, even if REI is rather expensive (but they have awesome sales!) read more

This location is in a handy spot near the Perimeter Mall, though when it's crowded, it can be hard to get out of the parking lot. It's all on one level, a smaller layout than some branches. Like most REIs, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Clearance racks are great for finding hidden treasures in sports and outdoor apparel and shoes especially. REI is also THE place to go before setting out on a long journey. read more

REI has been my go-to place to find gifts for my parents since they love those technical/dri-fit clothes and warm, lightweight jackets specifically made by Arc'teryx. They have a decent selection of North Face items too. I can usually find pretty good deals here. Their return policy is great. You can pretty much return anything within a year as long as you have the receipt, but obviously, return within reason. Service is always friendly. read more

I'm not into outdoor sports too much and after going through this store, I'm not sure that I ever will be,LOL. Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice store and there are lots of cool things that I saw and wanted to come back and see some more. All the items in the store had one thing in common....they were really expensive,LOL. I had no idea that outdoor sports were so expensive although I am sure that all the stuff in here represents the top-of-the-line items that you can buy. I do have to say that the quality of the items in the store was very good and I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I didn't have any interaction with the staff, this place was packed and they were busy with other people. Overall, a good store I think. read more

I usually go to REI for bike stuff, but sometimes for wetsuits, socks, shoes, and hiking supplies. This story is close to me, so, I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here if there was an alternative. Always compare prices online with other stories. Sometimes REI has great prices, sometimes competitive prices, and sometimes not. The bike-shop people are helpful. read more

Came here to buy some Vibram Five Fingers, when I got in there no one acknowledged me, period. When I was just standing by the shoes there was two workers back there and still no one asked if I needed any help. I'll talk my $120.00 somewhere else, I guess it's not needed here. read more

The employees at this location are terribly rude. They ignore customers who are obviously trying to locate items, and when they have spoken to me, they've been incredibly rude and condescending and acted like I know nothing about outdoor equipment and have no business in their store. I had been a loyal customer (and co-op member) of REI for almost twenty years, starting with the store in Brentwood, TN. I've spent thousands with them over the years. Now, I'm going to give Amazon all my outdoors business! It took a lot for them to lose me ... but nothing less than an REI employee (his name is 'Andy,' FYI) rolling his eyes about the status of my hopelessly lost order, YELLING AT ME, then CALLING THE COPS to have me removed from their property rather than try to explain REI's incompetence and lack of concern for my loss. On May 31 of this year, I ordered a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized tent for pickup at my local REI store (Perimeter in Dunwoody, GA). On June 4, I was notified that the tent had shipped, and would arrive in Atlanta on or around June 7. It didn't. No big deal. Surely, it would get there soon. Nope, not even after several more days, at which point I contacted customer service to "track" the delivery (those air quotes are purposeful). They assured me that it would arrive soon, most definitely before the weekend of June 16, when I had scheduled a camping road trip to the Florida Keys with my new Tepui tent to write a magazine story about Keys-hopping via car-top camper. Wrong again! And guess what? REI DOESN'T TRACK PACKAGES SHIPPED TO THE STORES! This progressive company in the 21st century relies on medieval technology (bills of lading) to keep tabs on their pick-up merchandise! Brilliant. So, no one (and by 'no one' I mean from corporate all the way down) has any clue what happened to my order. To their credit, higher-ups have tried to recompense this nightmare with a token discount, but how do they atone for one of their managers losing their cool in a customer dispute (that never happens in retail, right?), then going with the nuclear option when they can't handle the heat from a customer who is rightly exasperated about a chain-reaction of screwups and excuses? Don't let the co-op dividend (meager at best) fool you: Amazon Prime is a better deal, and you can avoid having your order disappear in the ether! read more

REI is by far one of my favorite places to shop. I do a lot of outdoor stuff from hiking, mountain climbing, etc etc and this place offers everything I need in one convenient location. The reason for 3 stars over 5 stars is the pricing. In my opinion, you're essentially paying for convenience because you can get, quite literally, everything they offer in the store for cheaper prices at different stores or on Amazon. If I'm in a pinch and need some kind of gear really fast, this is my go-to as I know they'll have exactly what I'm going for, but if I have a week or more to prep, I'll save a crap ton of $$ by getting the same thing elsewhere. read more

I've had a great experience with REI products as a whole, and enjoy the store atmosphere and culture, no complaints there. That being said, please be weary of the lack of customer service in the Bike Shop. The majority of the staff is pleasant and technically savvy, although some of the technicians are combative, ornery, and far too prideful to the point of being absolutely unapologetic in the case of a misunderstanding. Use the bike shop with caution and scrutiny, and if you dare challenge the work of a holy technician, make sure you have the calm hand of Mr Rogers. read more

First, let me say the personnel are excellent. I imagine the goods are of high quality since their markup seems excessive. But my complaint is with their return policy. I received as a gift 3 water bottles with an approximate value of $40.00. so it's not the cost its how I was treated when I tried to return these. The bottles were a gift and they were clearly labelled REI. No confusion who sold these. But when I went to "customer" service I realized that is an oxymoron at REI. Since it was a GIFT I didn't have the sales receipt nor account address of the person who bought it. For all I know she was not one of REI's rats and didn't sign up to become a member. People still do that. don't they. Both the sales clerk and supervisor gave me this response. It is IN OUR BY-LAWS that to return something you must prove you bought the bottles, marked REI from REI. Well, can I see where the bylaws are posted? Do your sales clerks at the time of purchase make customers aware that the by-laws exist. HMM, me thinks not. I wrote to home office and the same song and dance. so rather than make a client happy and the gift giver happy by simply allowing me to exchange these bottles, I walked out angry. I even asked the gift giver, do you happen to have the receipt. For WATER BOTTLES. NO! I told their home office that I have lived in Atlanta for over 40 years and have taken hundreds of things back---without proof of purchase. this was the FIRST and only store that did not refund my money or allow me to make a simple exchange. Including food stores. Just be warry that if you buy from REI and it is a gift make sure you send that receipt to your victim. This is an awful policy. read more

I recently bought a used road bike from Craigslist and was experiencing some shifting issues so I brought it to REI to get it tuned up. I was expecting to drop it off and spend 80 bucks or so, instead, the mechanic propped my bike up, tuned my derailleurs and made countless other minor adjustments that completely transformed my bike. After spending close to 15-20 minutes adjusting everything, I was only charged $15. I am extremely happy and will definitely be a repeat customer. read more
