Stopped into REI at The District today to look at hiking boots. They had a great selection both men's and women's including my favorite brand On. The employee in that department was amazing. He was knowledgeable, accommodating, and managed to help 4 groups of people all without losing any of his wonderful personality or smile. We found what we were looking for but the size was sold out. They told us when it was expected back in and even offered to give us a call when it arrived. I am so happy to be a member of the Coop because the value and service are always top notch!

Bike dept is GREAT! I bought a new bike with a couple missing parts and the REI bike dept fix me up! Thank you so much for making a customer kick-stand too for my 5 year old's bike. I really appreciate your hard work and calling me when it was ready.

We came into REI and was immediately greeted by a young man named Alec, I asked him if he knew anything about hiking and he said he absolutely did, he helped my daughter and one beyond expectations. I highly recommend Alec.

I always forget about this store when it comes to our sporting good needs, but I'm glad they are here because they've had everything we've needed. The employees are always ready to greet me every single time we've walked in. They ask us what we are browsing for and point us in the direction we need to go. We needed to buy cleats for my son who plays flag football. The employee helped us find his size and made sure it was the right fit. We also needed a mouth guard and he gave us his recommendation on what brand to get. They sell pretty much everything and anything pertaining to physical activity. We've browsed around the store and found a few unique things that you wouldn't be able to find at Walmart. If you sign up for their emails, they send coupons all the time. I'm for certain we will be here again once baseball season starts.

She turned around and said are you asking me if we have that? Very sarcastic then said "I will let you think about that for a while" turned around and closed the door. I experienced an appalling experience at this place…read more.. I purchased 3 hats around the holidays... I needed to EXCHANGE 2, to thanks to the very poor sizing suggestions of the sales rep... however, purchasing was totally on me... I go in saying"I need to exchange a couple of hats" the young women starts to attempt to help me... she asks for my receipt, to which I hand her. I tell her the sizes I need and the other person in the store gets the hats and checks my receipt, as to double check what the young women was doing. He then starts telling me how I was SO lucky that I was returning within 30 days of my purchase, that I only had one more day. I reply with "oh really I didn't even know, I'm just usually not on this side of town." He starts telling me about all the other locations they have in town, and finishes with "don't worry though I got you, I'm the manager here" I thought it was strange that he was telling me that since he just said I was within the time frame, but ok so I just said "thanks." The young women starts to process the transaction and she then says, "you are getting back $2.34" I was just exchanging so I wasn't expecting anything back but hey I'm not complaining. However, I had no opportunity to even say anything... when Mr. Big Manager comes back and starts "attempting" to tell her what she did wrong. Starts moving numbers and such in the computer but he doesn't seem to know what the heck he is doing... this continues to happen for at least another 7-10 mins. I wanted to get out of there and I didn't care whether or not I i got back $2 back... so I finally said "I'm sorry I don't mean to be a pest, but can you please just give me my hats and you do what you have to do" Mr. Big Tough Manager must have had his feeling hurts that he was so damn slow that he replies "I'm trying to help you so, you don't have to pay $2 more, so why don't you just wait" (with an attitude and holding his hands down) the adrenaline rushed through my body to have been spoken to in that matter. I replied, I don't know why you tHink you can speak to me like that, first of all you dont even know what you are talking about she was going to give ME $2 back which I don't care for I just want to get the hats and leave" he replies with "why don't you just take your hats and get out of here" (throwing my receipt at me, and pushing my hats out). I was filled with anger that I did just that, besides Mr. tough guy would have probably called security on me if I stayed... needless to say I wouldn't not recommend from anyone using this place while their managers can mistreat their associates and speak down to people/customers like that... all he had to say was, "this will just take another minute or two" instead his reaction was uncalled for, no lack of service or even regard for respect. I wonder if he would have spoken to me like that if my husband was with me or if I was a male. This guy clearly has a problem...

I would need to go to Giant to get my part, and I was given the malfunctioning part to take as a reference. I came to the Henderson store to get the part. the man helping me took the reference part to the back, found the new part, and came back after a few minutes of examining the old part. He gave me the new part but cautioned me that, to him, the old part still seemed fine. He then went on to describe to me a common issue that can sometimes seem like the problem is the dropper post, but is actually related to the cables. He said he wanted to give me a heads up before I spent the money on the part, just in case I wanted to try going back to REI with the new insight. I thanked him and decided to get the part anyhow, figuring it's 5 years old, so it won't hurt to replace it regardless. Nevertheless, he offered that, if after replacing the part, the seat still doesn't function properly and REI isn't able to fix it, to bring it in to him and he'll take care of it. "I don't want you to have to pay twice for the part and even more repair" (to paraphrase). My takeaways: * Gave advice and knowledge (most good salespeople will offer that these days) * Provided an alternative for what my issue might be, despite that meaning they could lose the sale * Offered to include fixing my issue, free of charge, if the REI folks still couldn't figure it out, as a thank you for buying the part I appreciated each of these things, and I felt it was important to mention it to others.

IF after reading this post, you still decide to give this place your business, you've been warned…read more My son earned and saved enough money to get hydraulic breaks for his bike. 185+ later for parts and labor from Giant, he had what he wanted. About a month later, he starts to have issues with the hydraulics. My wife takes the bike in with my son and the two men who were there gave her attitude and started to make accusations on why it probably no longer works. They didn't know, but my wife took the bike to Swanny's prior to going back to Giant and they said something inside the hydraulic casing was bad. Giant told my wife they could see scratches on the break system and it most likely stopped working because my son dropped it crashed his bike. Only option was for them to "look at it" and let us know what was wrong. A week later, we get a call with two options from the Giant. Give us $125 to put a new one on or come pick it up. I told the guy that I would never do business with a company who accuse customers of things and who don't guarantee their work/products, and I would pick the bike up. Rule number one when doing business with someone, if they don't guarantee their work, don't give them your business. Rule number 2, If they talk down to women, don't give them your business.
