The store looks nice and the products are decent but customer service straight up sucks for the price your paying for the gear. The "employees" tend to ignore you most of the time and seem to loiter around. You have to ASK for help even if there are barely anyone in the store. I would rather go to Sport Chalet or Big Five, but I prefer the selection in REI. If only they cared more about customer service. The only exception to this was the Cashier is usually friendly. read more

my new favorite place in the world. it's pricey sure, but it's all gravy. everything and anything you may need to survive in the wild is here. get a membership, enjoy the discount perks. another thing i love of rei is you can buy online. not happy with it, bring it to the store. also the total satisfaction guarantee policy is ridiculous. mind you, this isn't their biggest location, but it packs a helluva punch. check the website for what the location has to offer before hand, cause their one doesn't have snow and aquatic gear. don't be lazy, do your research. but my favorite part, was an employee, Lara. she's in the bike dept. sooo friendly and knowledgable with anything bike relevant. which i noticed is hard to find in this sort of sporting good store environment. usually for that type of info, one was better off going to a dedicated bike shop. but yeah, you'll be safe in her hands. so, go ahead catch a couple episode of Dual Survival, don't be cheap, buy or rent the good stuff, and go get lost and find yourself in nature. this place could make that dream a reality. let the inner boy/girl scout out!!! read more

As good as it gets. Every time i go into the shop every single person i meet is super helpful and genuinely seems like they enjoy what they do. They take the initiative to make sure you're doing okay, and go above and beyond to ensure that you leave with what you were looking for. The shoe department is awesome. Very knowledgeable staff. They will take the time to help you get the correct items and answer any questions you have. The classes they have are very useful. I recently took a women's backpacking class and a light weight backpacking basics class and I am also signed up for a women's hiking class. Their prices are expensive but you're also buying the best and high quality items. I recently got fitted for a backpacking backpack and I have already used the backpack and was extremely happy with my purchases. read more

I purchased a Thule Roof Box from REI which will surely come in handy for future trips, but my review is for the excellent customer service experience I had during my purchase. Eddy helped clarify many questions I had with the various roof racks. I did a little homework with measurements for my car and Eddy helped make sure that I got the right roof box that fit my needs. He assisted me with taking the box over to my vehicle and made sure I installed the box properly. I will surely come back to this REI location. read more

I absolutely love this store. They are stocked up on the items I often browse for online and want to see in person. Plus the employees are exceedingly helpful. For instance, I was going on a backpacking trip and needed new gear top to bottom and I had one person help me for nearly an hour just picking stuff out and they even reminded me of a few essentials that I had forgotten to include on my list. We then needed a trail map and since I was hiking to an obscure area we spent another 20 minutes going through all the maps just seeing where my trail might be on a map with more popular trails. Therefore, I cannot recommend enough this store and though it is far from me I would rather come here because of all the good experiences I've had thus far. Thanks REI! read more

What can you say about this place? It's great! It has a cozy but outdoorsy feel. The staff have always been very kind and helpful. They are very knowledgeable and will help you answering questions, fitting packs, making recommendations, etc. The selection of gear and clothing is great and if they're out of something, they'll check other stores or online for you. Best place to have your bike repaired. There's a certified bike specialist, I think his name is Tom or Tim, who's been very helpful providing repair and maintenance on my bike over the past year. The service is quick too. On different visits I had my brakes repaired, wheel and tire/tube replaced, all of which only required me to drop off my bike and was finished either same day or next day. read more

Been coming here for 20 years. REI offers the overall best selection of camping equipment I have found. The staff is helpful but not obnoxious, and many of them actually participate first hand in outdoor activities, making them a good resource for customers. The other great thing about REI is that members enjoy a very generous return policy . I needed to return a pair of boots that were worn from hiking, but I felt they were improperly wearing and caused some discomfort . They exchanged the boots immediately and with no hassle. Not five stars due to the parking issues. The parking lot can be a nightmare. read more

I was just here to pick up the new GoPro hero4 black edition but the two store employees were trying to convince me to get the silver saying that they were basically the same thing. Since they didn't carry them. He said they are even on backorder online. See attached photo. It's not sold out online. One employee was saying the only difference is that fps. I told him that the black shoots in superview 4k and the silver in 1080p. He says no they both shoot superview in 4k. I was like okaaay and the silver has a built in lcd screen. He said so does the black. Then out of no where another customer who knows more than them chimed in and agreed with me telling the employee that the black doesn't have a screen because it would overheat. And then both employees said that they didn't receive training on the Gopro since it just came out today and they were supposed to be hush hush about it. Then why did I get an email from Gopro two weeks ago explaining all the features? Right before I left I told the guy I had my eyes set on the black. Then he said, "yeah everything looks better in black." Ummm yaaa the Gopro black edition is not actually black. Pay attention in training guys or just read the website. read more

Nice big shopping center parking lot with a few 10 minute parking spots up front. I didn't catch her name behind the counter, but this young blonde showed me where my item was on the shelf right before she went to lunch. The other guy rang me up and forgot to take my money. But being the honest person I am, I said if he wanted me to pay? Of course he realized his mistake and took my cash. They have nice outdoor items for sale... Camping, hiking, clothing, etc. a little pricey, but I guess you have to pay premium for better quality stuff. Overall, it seems like a nice store, but not much for me. read more

REI is my go-to spot for all of my outdoor purchasing. Member deals are so nice, their total satisfaction policy would make no sense if they didn't sell such quality products. The staff are always helpful, even if they don't know about the product you are asking about they are usually smart and willing to figure it out with you. I love shopping online, and they give free shipping on almost anything if you are a member. I have called ahead and had products set aside for me and they are always happy to do it. If you are like me, look out when they have sales as you are likely to blow all of your cash. read more

Good selection of products - we needed a 4 bike rack for our SUV and had several on the floor. Floor staff is terrible for families, moms, or casual sports type people!!! We are not sporty and walked in with our 2 little kids and the floor staff practically ran away!! Many were available, but would not make eye contact! NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY STORE! We had to walk in front of one of them to get some questions answered. We came to buy a $400+ item, and yet were treated as if we had the plague and our children were strange aliens. The only nice one was the cashier, who I guess is human and realizes that all humans start as babies, that do occassionaly cry and move into toddlers, that get excited with cools stuff in a store. The floor staff I guess started as judgemental adults putting their noise down on family customers. MOMS AVOID!!! read more

I was at this REI looking for snow boots, i was lucky to find them on the sale section. I like the store and all their inventory but i hope management works on training their employees more on how to approach costumers and find out if they need help. I was not approached by one the whole time i was there. I'm an understanding person and It looked like a slow day so management might of send some employes home but that means that the workers on the floor should be more alert on costumer service. I was treated excellent at the cashier register, costumer service was great on that department. The store deserves full stars as its a great place to go to but I will give them three stars on costumer service for those who work the floor, so overall I will give this store a 3.5 if I could. They have a great selection of outdoor camping and hiking equipment and gear. The store is pretty big with all equipment needs. The staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to help. This shopping center is pretty large and the lot can sometimes be packed, so parking can sometimes be a pain to find a spot closer to the entrance. read more

REI used to be great. What happened?! I got some shoes as a gift but they were not what I had wanted and so I checked REI's website and saw that they did not carry the particular model that I was interested in. So, with gift receipt in hand, I took the shoes to my local REI store and tried to return them. When I walked up to the customer service desk, the clerk had just finished with another customer and told me I had to go wait in line. No problem. I waited in line while he sorted some merchandise. After about five minutes he finished and said he could now help me. This annoyed me. REI used to be all about good customer service. How is keeping customers waiting considered good service? There was no one in line behind me, why couldn't he have just helped me and then sorted things out after? I told him that I had received the shoes as a gift and the were not the model I was interested in and wanted to return them and showed him the gift receipt. He then told me that without the original receipt, he could only give me store credit. There was nothing I was interested in since they did not carry the model of shoes that I wanted. I had just come back from visiting my family 150 miles away and getting the original receipt would not be easy, if even possible. I'm not sure that my relative had even kept their receipt. It seems that REI is now more interested in holding on to our money than providing a good customer experience. When I got home I took a look at REI's website and it says that returns could be done with a gift receipt. So I called REI corporate customer service and asked what their return policy was and the agent told me pretty much the same thing as what the store clerk had. However, he added that even if I were to obtain the original receipt, I would still not get a refund. Ok. But would they at least refund the money back to my relative's credit card? The agent could not guarantee that as the credit card would not be present. So this leaves me no other option than to ship the shoes back to my relative who would then have to take them to a store for a refund. I ask again, how is this considered good customer service? I have to say I am very disappointed in REI. read more

If you want some advice and it's the first time you are getting into outdoor activity , then you must go to REI. Even if you will just go there to talk to an associate and gather all the info to still go and buy it from Amazon , their membership is worth all that. They have amazing staff, if you ask them about one product they each have vast knowledge about it that they might even tell you the size of the thread, how many stitches and approximate number of uses for each product. Yes they are expensive and probably the most expensive among their peers but when you buy something from rEi you know it's a very good quality even if you have never heard of the brand. Other competitions are way cheaper but you would be compromising the quality, which is throwing away your money. To add to all of this , they do stand behind their return policy, I bought a hiking boots and used it twice on long hikes and it hurt my toes Abir because it was a bit small so they took it back and gave me a full refund.
