Everyone here is so unbelievably helpful and nice. I came to try on some hiking boots that I had planned on just buying on Amazon for slightly cheaper but ended up just buying them in the store solely because of the great customer service. I even joined the membership program. Everyone who walked past the shoe area stopped and asked which shoes I was enjoying most and asked where I was taking them and they were all genuinely excited for my trip and interested and wanting to help Wayne was wonderful over in the shoes. He spent a long time helping me out and brought me tons of different shoes before I chose the perfect pair for me. He went to great lengths to help me get the best pair and let me know that they could easily send a different size to a new destination on my trip if it was needed. He even showed me a different way to tie my boots in order to secure my heel down properly so I don't get blisters! read more

After a terrible experience at Dick's sporting goods Newport Beach, I decided to go here. From the moment I walked in, I felt warm greetings. I was looking for waterproof hiking shoes and didn't know what to get because I've never own a pair. I am very pleased of the service. The shoe department was very helpful and patient with me. The cashiers were extremely nice and professional. The cashiers made sure the pair of shoes I bought match with the same size plus left and right shoes. I ended up leaving with two pairs of shoes! This place is HEAVEN! I can pick up an outdoor hobby or play more sports and will definitely get my supplies here!!!!!! read more

The second REI I've ever been to - my dad wanted to stop by and pick up some hiking boots, peruse the camping accessories section, etc. First off the Tustin location is HUGE ... much like everything else in Tustin. Quite the opposite of an outdoorswoman, I can't get too giddy about the selection or quality at REI but I will allot this location 4 stars for its size and awesome customer service that handled the Dec. 26 crowd reasonably well. This REI has a little more of a warehouse feel than the posh Encinitas location, but I think it fits in more merchandise, and certainly the clerks in Encinitas were amazed by the tabi-like water shoes I returned from there. There was someone on the floor who could help me with the biodegradable sunscreen ($16/2.9oz,.) - preserve the coral reefs! The check-out person could have rubbed it in my face when I tried to show him a Dick's coupon on my phone (smart phone, dumb person), but didn't (too much at least). The main reason for writing about this store is that the restroom smelled like a bakery! read more

For those who want the priciest and most stylish outdoor gear imaginable, it's impossible to beat REI. I enjoy wandering the aisles full of overpriced rucksacks and GPS units, but I rarely buy anything. The obsessive-compulsive staff who feign a laid back interest in the outdoors are usually friendly and well-informed if a tad too fervent. In fact, it's more like visiting a cult than a retail store. read more

I was is Irvine and decided to make a stop and pick up a few Buffs and when I went it, I was greeted right away and there was a person ready to walk me exactly where I needed to go. Great store for quality gear. It tends to be expensive but if you shop the sales you can find amazing deals. They are also very good about taking things back that don't work. Today I went to the REI in Tustin California. I just wanted to put on yelp what great customer service they have. I went with my sister and brother-in-law. He was the one looking for shoes. I was very impressed with how they handled the social distancing. In the shoe department they had squared of areas that were 6 feet apart from each other had limited amount of people in the shoe department at a time. The employees were very professional and knowledgeable and very helpful. Very friendly as well. I wish I could remember all of the sales associates that helped us. But in particularly I remember a sales associate whose name is Sam. Like the rest of the sales associate he was very professional and very helpful. I was very impressed like I said about how they handle the social distancing. Every employee as well as customers were wearing their masks. I am so glad to see a business take such interest in the safety and health of their employees and customers. I will be back there for sure. read more

MATTHEW was amazing! He took the time to walk us around the entire store and help us gather everything we needed for our backpacking trip. We ended up carrying filled backpacks with weights around the store and adjusting for weight distribution as well as receiving helpful hints and tips on the other products we would need to make our trip easy and successful. My husband's favorite place to shop. Hey have everything - convenient parking, fantastic customer service, decent inventory of clothes, camping, biking, climbing and most outdoors items. It pays to be a member as you typically save money and awarded cash back. Not too bad, right? Oh they have the best return policy too! You can return items within 12 months if you're not satisfied. I've never had to return any product because the quality and brands that they sell (yes including REI products) are of high quality. It does give you a peace of mind and I like that. read more

Great service yesterday while looking for a variety of things. We were greeted immediately, then salespeople casually approached us to help instead of bombarding us or scattering and having to be found. We had just left Dick's sporting goods and had one older man help us there (he was the ONLY helpful one) so we didn't know what to expect at REI. Maintenance could tend to the women's restroom more frequently though, as there was sticky, dried substance that smelled like pee surrounding one stall. That's actually a customer's lack of aim, or concern, but unfortunately someone has to clean it up. I was grossed out and my nostrils were offended, though it did help me get into the experience of feeling like I was actually camping. read more

This particular store is so huge, it's ridiculous. The staff members are very friendly and you can pretty much find anything outdoor related here. My friend came in looking for a clip to clip his sunglasses to his visor mirror and they even had that! This store is located in the Market Place in Tustin so it looks super fancy as well. read more

Like an oasis, the REI rises from the concrete jungle of T Marketplace and beckons with every single type of gear imaginable. I went in for a backpack, I left with an education. If you are looking for any sort of backpack (especially a backpacking backpack), you need to seek out Edd. Edd (that's right, with two "d"s) will break down each pack with precision. Furthermore, after he has sized you properly, he then teaches you step by step the proper way to wear a pack, so as to carry weight most efficiently and effortlessly. Then, he'll load up the pack you want and have you walk around the store to get a feel for what the pack is like with weight (20+ lbs). All in all, an awesome customer service experience. read more

I love this place. I try and buy all my high-priced sporting equipment here because of the guarantee. I haven't had to return anything, but the peace of mind knowing I will have lifetime support and damage repair is very comforting. I bought my mountain bike (among other things) here and can take it into any REI nationwide for a tune-up; which I have and they do an excellent job no matter where you go. I will say it again....I love this place! With the pleasant California weather in full swing, it's hard to pass up the annual spring and summer deals that REI offers. Getting my dividend check in the mail was like Christmas, and I promptly went down to the store to spend it and take advantage of the 20% off member coupon. It's not just about the great deals than keeps me coming back to this place, but the impeccable service that they offer when you wander through the aisles sometimes wondering which piece of equipment is the right one for your needs. For example, I was looking to invest in a backcountry backpack. In comes REI associate Tom, who with his product knowledge and personal hiking experience not only addresses my novice needs but also assists with fitting the pack to me and placing weights in the pack to help me get an idea of what to expect and how to adjust for comfort. I think the man must have spent almost an hour providing guidance and suggestions, which was greatly appreciated! This is not an isolated incident. On a second trip to take advantage of another sale, it was Dustin who spent about half an hour explaining the various types of sleeping bags, asking questions about trip venues to determine which bag is the right type, and making recommendations based on long term needs. He also assisted with GPS devices. This is why I keep coning back. Yeah, I can save money on general gear at places like Big 5 or at Outlet locations, but I may also end up spending more money or wasting it on purchases that were incorrect or more than what I needed as well. I'm so impressed with this establishment that on my last visit, I even purchased memberships for my boys. $20 for a lifetime membership is not a bad deal for all the service and great deals you can get! read more

REI is located on Jamboree and El Camino Real off the 5 freeway in Tustin. I definitely prefer this location over the one in Huntington Beach at Bella Terra because of the ample parking and larger selection of products and brands. It is my go to store for outdoor equipment. They have everything from yoga to backpacking. I invested in a CamelBak Mule NV hydration pack and have no regrets. The customer service is also great. You can sign up for their membership for a one-time fee of $20 and have access to exclusive deals and events, as well as cash back on all full purchases. read more

We always get great service from the staff here - I don't generally buy much here at full price... I generally lay in wait for clearance or sale events, so they're reasonable for what I buy there. Tbh, I don't go there for the prices, though - when I wanna go gawk at future wants or check out things I'm on the fence about buying, one of their staff is always helpful in my decision making process. I'm from the East Coast and so I haven't been to a REI until now. They had some awesome stuff. Good sized building and the people were very very helpful and nice. So that's a HUGE plus in my book. They had a sale going on and we bought a new rolling duffle bag. The store was clean and well organized. The only issue I have is the store policy on price matches. This stuff is expensive. I would hope you would price match but I understand. Profit is king. Either way, if REI has it in stock and best price I'll be buying from here. I would go back for sure. Don't expect knowledgeable service for ski repair. Was told base grind and wax would take out scrapes in base. Skis returned with scrapes still in base. Told need to pay additional $80 to complete repair!! What a joke and scam. read more
