My hairdresser is Stephanie. My husband and I recently moved into the area. I found a vet for my dog, and next, I needed a hairdresser for myself. Forget finding a gynecologist, my hair is more important. I followed a woman around a parking lot because I loved the way her hair looked, and she said that she used Stephanie at REL Salon. I called for an appointment immediately. We moved up here from Los Altos, and I'd been seeing the same hairdresser for years. Stephanie made this nervous person feel at home, and then she gave me a great haircut. She's not only talented, but she is also such a nice person. I can't recommend her highly enough. She's a master at color, and if I want to change something, she is happy to accommodate me. She's a beautiful person both inside and out. I did ask her for pink hair, but she didn't think that was a good idea. I'm kidding at the pink hair. When you walk into a new salon, and my heart was in my throat, and you feel welcome from the front person to your stylist, you feel at home. Highlights. Auburn. Brown. Blonde. Long cuts. Short cuts. Chunky layers. He always does a great job. Ariel cares about his clients and it shows in his work. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my hair stlying needs. The salon also has a makeup station where you can get custom-made makeup. The salon is nice and airy with surrounding windows. There is a nice lounge seating area with coffee and snacks. They have a huge flat screen TV that plays music videos. They also have a huge selection of hair products for purchase. Ariel was the first person to give me an A-line that was shaved in the back many years ago. I must have been 10 or 12 years old at the time lol. I have followed him over the years and he is still the only person that knows how to cut my hair right and after all these years still knows my hair! Jenna has been doing my hair for a while now, and she is the best! She is hands down the most skilled with color, and willing to work with my crazy color ideas to make it look good. 4 stars only because they always seem to be booked solid (which is guess is good, means they are busy?) - I need to book at least 6 weeks ahead to get a time that works for me. My color is pretty terrible by the time I get back in to get it fixed/changed, but I always leave looking amazing again. I did get a last minute haircut appointment with someone else, but I think it was the gal that normally does makeup, and I wasn't impressed. Otherwise, no complaints. It's a bright, clean salon and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there. I love it! read more

I've been going to R.E.L. Salon for about two years and Shawna Jenkins's is my favorite stylist! She really knows how to do color matching for root touch up and cancel out red highlights. Jennifer has a chair in R.E.L. Salon. I can't speak to the other stylists there, although everyone is very friendly (including the owner who is also a stylist). I have gone to Jennifer for my own and my daughter's haircutting. She does an excellent job with both adults and children (I have referred her to all of my friends). She really knows how to cut all types of hair--curly, wavy and straight, fine and thick and all between. She puts glitter in kid's hair if they want an extra perk at the end of their haircut, and that is what my daughter lives for. Jennifer is also really good at talking through haircutting ideas, and she neither holds back her asthetic nor is she too pushy. She's kind and creative. While I haven't gotten my hair colored with her (or at all yet), I have seen some of her clients walk away with super natural looking color (in fact, one woman's color made me think it was time to get the gray in my hair colored out--it looked so good!). I have been going to REL for 10+ years so I decided to make an appointment for me and my 2 daughters to get are eyebrows down by Jackie it was 25$ for brow and lip. My daughter end up going to the hospital that day I called the salon in the same day and apologized for missing appointments and wanted to rebook when I told the receptionist what had happened she had told me that I would have to pay for the appointments that I have missed and the ones I was going to make. I explained everything to her. And her answer was I had 24 hours to cancel I made the appointment the day before they had no consideration for my situation I asked for Jackie to call me and so did my daughter 1 week later still no call I called again today and talked to the receptionist asking again to speak to Jackie and she still hasn't called me back that's why I'm making this review read more

This is a cute, clean salon. However, I went for a cut and color with Kim, and was very unimpressed. I ended up with something completely different than I wanted, and it could not be fixed due to the color being "very hard to lift". I came there with multiple pictures of what I wanted, so I'm not sure what the problem was. My hair was hardly cut, I honestly couldn't tell aside from the tips of my hair all being the exact same length, which does not work with my wavy hair. After I paid, which was extremely pricey for the service received, I realized I still had a huge patch of completely WET DYE on my head. So, I paid almost $200 to sit in my car, and wash dye out of my hair with a water bottle and paper towel. I will not go back. read more

I chose R.E.L. as a result of multiple yelp reviews, and made an appointment with a random hairdresser. She did a perfectly good haircut, but it wasn't quite what I had asked for, and I have a very specific type of hair. I called the next day to see if anyone else there could do a little re-shaping of the cut. This time I brought in a picture of what I wanted. Ariel was able to re-cut my hair in a much more flattering style that was similar to what I wanted originally. He also gave me some accurate and helpful advice on styling my very straight, very thick hair. Had I not gone back, I would not have returned to R.E.L, but with the situation now remedied, I would absolutely go back to have Ariel cut my hair again. read more

I just recently started playing with my hair color. After getting a few good cuts from Jenna I felt comfortable with the idea of coloring it. I brought in a photo of an ombre and two hours later I had an AMAZING ombre. Just like the phioto! The upkeep to the ombre is also pretty easy. Jenna M is the best hairdresser I have ever used. I have been to many over the years. She always does a great job on my hair and when I leave I'm totally energized for the rest of the day as I look, so good. I get lots of compliments everytime I get my hair done. I even get the Brazilian, so my hair doesn't frizz and I don't have to use the falt iron all the time. I love how my hair looks after that. I have never had any bad experiences with her.
