The invoice shows no note of inspecting the belt, tensioner, or pulleys, despite the technician working directly next to them. 21 miles after I picked the car up, the serpentine belt snapped while I was driving. The roadside mechanic who helped me confirmed the tensioner was already seized before he touched anything -- he had to force it just to get a temporary belt on. I had the belt, tensioner, and pulleys properly replaced at another shop for $1,812.45. I brought this timeline to Barnaba, including in a conference call with owners Ron and Chris Barnaba and service advisor Matt Richardson. They denied any responsibility and didn't offer an explanation for why a part sitting right next to the area they'd just worked on wasn't checked, despite having direct access to it during the repair. I'm not claiming certainty about root cause -- I can't prove it. What I can say: they had hands-on access to the failed components during a recent repair and documented no inspection of them. If you're considering this shop for anything, I'd ask exactly what they inspect and document when they're already in that area of the engine.
