This review is being posted to alert other patrons about what they may be walking into at Webster's. If no one says anything, then other patrons may be left in the same disappointed state we were. It had been multiple years since we last dined at Webster's establishment (until our most recent visit). We are typically regular patrons at the Remington Tavern or Giancarlo's, however we wanted to change up the venue a bit on this occasion. My husband and I had some good friends visiting from out of state on holiday and we chose Webster's to treat them to what we were expecting would be a nice meal and a pleasant evening while they were in town. We ordered a few appetizers to start, which were sadly the best part of the entire meal. We then ordered 3 salads, each of which was a larger disappointment than the next. I think we were charged something around $16 or $17 for a "strawberry and beet salad". It arrived tableside with probably 5 lettuce leaves, 7 strawberry quarters, and some scattered pieces of cut up beets. Our guests who were in town from California even commented about how "measly the salad was in comparison to the nice robust salads that they were used to being served at restaurants in California". So embarrassed!!! I could have got under the table at this point. Let me just start out by saying I have never in my life seen a wedge salad served in the manner that we received at Webster's. The lettuce was grilled to the point that it was soggy - almost like blanched spinach!! Who fully cooks lettuce in a pan? Peculiar for sure! If you're striving to enhance the salad's presentation to achieve a unique aesthetic effect ....make sure the oil in your pan is extremely hot and only hold the romaine heart in the pan for a few seconds to give the lettuce a seared or charred appearance!!! Our salads were served with limp pickled red onion on top of them plopped on a square plate - plain. Nothing else. Dry. When we asked our waitress what was going on she expeditiously removed the salads from our table. Upon her return the salads were appearing as they should be and she commented that the chef "was new and he must have been overly eager to get our food out to us." When our main course came... it just got worse! The plates were ice cold, the vegetables and the potatoes on the plate were ice cold as well as if they had been sitting in the kitchen on some shelf in the corner for a half an hour before they were brought out to our table. The Salmon Wellington was warm, however the puff pastry that surrounded it was so incredibly thick underneath the salmon. I could've used a steak knife to cut through it! To add to the disappointment, the entire dish had zero flavor. No seasoning whatsoever it was completely bland. Dill? Shallots? Garlic? Salt? Pepper? It might've been nice had they diced & sautéed some shallots and mixed them in with the mushroom purée to give the dish enhanced flavor. Or they could've pan seared the salmon for a few seconds in some garlic infused oil - again to add flavor prior to wrapping and baking the puff pastry. One of our guests was so turned off by her salmon entrée she stopped eating her meal and politely asked to have it packaged up to go. She said it was just too much pastry and it was just not what she was expecting as it was too tough to cut through. She later that evening informed us she was taking her salmon dinner home to give to her family's dogs (whom our guests were staying with while in town). Our other guest ordered a simple burger, and from what they had shared.... it was okay. It's a burger, right? Kinda hard to mess that up. Overall, for the 4 of us to eat dinner at Webster's our total bill came to an approximately $350 (including tip). I definitely felt that the quality and presentation of the food was severely lacking. A "chef" is a position that someone should have demonstrated proficiency in before a fine dining establishment with meals at this price point allows them to cook at their restaurant for their patrons. This person should not be a line cook and should be an actual experienced and educated/trained chef! Overall, my husband and I were both disappointed with the quality of the food at Webster's and therefore we WILL NOT be returning in the future. For the number of times that my husband and I have dined at the Remington (as an example) as regular patrons every week practically --- we have NEVER...EVER received a bad meal with them! Never! They are always spot on!! On their "A" game. When you're spending $300 -$400 or more on a single meal (AND A EXPERIENCE) the owner of a restaurant cannot afford to have anything outside perfection leave the kitchen. Period. Negative PR is resounding!! read more

My girlfriend invited me to dinner at Webster's bistro prior to our show at the Riviera last night. Little did we know that we were going to be dining at a more upscale restaurant. I would come back here for a special occasion. The service was excellent. Very nice and pleasant waitress. I wasn't paying attention to the decor to be honest. My eye did not catch any particular artwork or art style. I was more focused on meeting my girlfriend and catching up before going to the show. The menu looked amazing! Entrées were easily $35 and up. Especially their surf and turf. Definitely bring your piggyback savings! Both my friend and I had the beyond mushroom burger $20. It really was delicious and the fries too. I had a Caesar salad on the side. My elderberry liquor infused cocktail called the Marie Antoinette was beautiful! Went here for my mother's 70th birthday and it was wonderful! The ambiance is a beautiful romantic elegant upscale French style restaurant. The online menu is a little out of order, so we missed the Grill section and ended up a little surprised to see those options on the menu when we arrived. Everything sounded so good, we can't wait to come back and try more! I don't remember our servers name, but she was great! Marie Antoinette Cocktail 8/10 A sweet drink, but not too sweet. The elderflower creates a pretty floral flavor. Fried goat cheese 10/10 Amazing warm creamy cheese with a perfect breading and fry. The red onion marmalade was sweet, the perfect balance to the creaminess. Add a little arugula with balsamic to the bite and you're really in heaven. Cinnamon roll Pork Belly 9/10 Strong cinnamon flavor. Good balance between sweet and the saltiness of the bacon. Just wish there was a better balance between the texture of inside/outsides. The fat on the outside was very soft and the inside wasnt as tender compared to the fat. I do also wish the outside was a little crispier. The bourbon vanilla crema was good and balanced the cinnamon out. The maple mustard slaw was a little strange, it definitely didn't look like a slaw to us. Pan Roasted Rack of Lamb 10/10 Medium rare. Cooked perfect and juicy. The meat was tasty and the crust was a good flavor. Dauphonoise Potatoes 10/10 These were similar to an au gratin potato. creamy, a little cheesy, very good! 4-Onion Elk burger 9/10 Medium rare. Was slightly more red in the center than a medium rare should be, but it's ok. Still tasted fantastic!!! House Fries 10/10 Fried perfectly, a great crisp. I'm a fan of this place. I don't know how long it's been open, but I discovered it about six months ago. I've had two meals here, and both were quite good. One was a hamburger which I enjoyed, didn't think the bun was great, but the meat and the hamburger was very good. The other was a couple of appetizers that were terrific. For my mom's birthday, we went to Webster's Bistro. We were greeted warmly and shown to our reserved table. The room was beautiful, decorated with chandeliers and elegant hanging tapestry. Since there was a birthday, we were treated with free champagne (ginger ale for the kids) in a nice champagne flute. Our server was extremely friendly and we got our food fairly quickly.- MS We had the cheese appetizer that had a wide selection, including some unique jams and preserves. MS had the salmon and I had the steak. Steak was very tasty, for some reason I could taste the freshness - which was very good. It had some compound butter and was served with amazing fries. My wife had the ratatouille with some puff pastries and it was so good. We also had some amazing cocktails throughout the night. Well, Webster's Bistro & Bar (in North Tonawanda) opened in April, 2013, and today is the first time we've ever gone there. I now regret overlooking it all these years. I've heard good about it but we just never went. When trying to find a place for Valentine's Day back in January, none of our usual places or even other places I've heard good about it were available and then I saw this was available at 4:15 p.m. so I grabbed it. Best restaurant decision I've made recently. Dinner was fantastic. Webster's is going to be at the top of our list from now on. Right up there with Lombardo's and Lucia's. We have heard wonderful things about this restaurant and decided to come here for our anniversary. We were immediately greeted and seated by the front window; great people watching! Our server was amazing! He came right over with water and asked if we were there "for a nice dinner,or celebrating." I said, both! He then asked if we would like complimentary glasses of champagne, so said Yes! What a surprise! We both ordered different salads, received AMAZING bread & butter (sounds silly, but trust me), and ordered our meals. I wanted the lobster bucatini, and hubs had his eye on the surf and turf. Enjoyed an evening with my aunt in my cousin. We got there at 5 but I didn't leave until 7:30. Felt that was a long time, but maybe that's standard for this place. The salmon Wellington pictured was very delicious. The salmon was cooked just right. There was a nice amount of bernaise sauce. The potatoes were cooked well. Wasn't sure what that vegetable was, but it was crispy, kind of crunchy and tasting enough. Our server was doing a good job through most of the meal, and then on everybody one around was getting desserts. He came by twice and said. "Coming right up." Made reservations for our anniversary dinner. Upon arriving the host brought us right to our table. The ambience is warm and inviting. Our waitress asked if we were there for any special reason. We mentioned it was our anniversary and she brought two glasses of complimentary champagne. We ordered escargot and honeycomb Brie brûlée appetizers which were delicious. Our cocktails were perfect. For dinner we ordered the Duck two ways and pork chop which was a special. Both were phenomenal. We ordered tiramisu and a chocolate squirrel for dessert. Also really good. I don't know if I have ever said this in a review before, but this is the first time in my life where the service BEAT the food. Mind you, the food was incredible. But the service was top tier! We went for my graduation dinner, and they offered everyone a complimentary champagne. Our waitress was on top of everyone's dietary restrictions and was extremely friendly! The bar set up was really cool as well, the decor around the whole place was nice. The cheese board was very fresh and the jam was great. The French onion soup was so flavorful. The star was the salmon Wellington. The puffed pastry was baked to perfection and the veggies paired well. The sauce was very decedent; I do personally wish there was a little more dill flavor however. But, the beignets were a top dessert to finish off the night. Service was terrible, as we checked in our reservation, the Maître D told us to wait, she had to finish her conversation. Finally we were shown our table. I was looking for a coat rack, but there wasn't one. We were seated at a table along a brick wall, not too much room, I had to drape my long coat over my chair and sit on it. We listened to Nora Jones songs, six long songs to be exact. No greetings, no water, nothing. We watched people getting served, and it was rather awkward. Finally I had enough, I put my long coat on, my hat and gloves and we left. Very disappointing. I really wanted to eat here. Idk if I will try them again. read more

Went last week for Valentine's Day. I had to make the reservation weeks ago, and was only able to get in at 7:45, but not a problem I eat late anyway. The decor is perfect for a French restaurant a little cramped but had cute dividers up so you don't feel like people are barging in on your conversations. Our waiter was good, checked back appropriate amounts of time, he didn't do anything exceptional but was decent. The food was amazing, I had the artichokes appetizer and lobster buccatini. It was so good! My husband had the duck and he said it was also amazing. One of the highlights was my drink I got. The drinks all had romantic movie titles for valentines, and I got the "pretty woman", it was so good it should always be on the menu. Will definitely be back. read more

Wow, just Wow! Is it possible that Chef Seth has now been at Webster's for two years? Yep! And he and his team continue to work some amazing magic. This past Friday night's dinner selections were all off the specials menu and boy were they ALL ever special. Appetizer? The grilled octopus (with accompaniments) was tender, tender, tender and flavorful. A generous portion that was so good it deserves to be on the regular menu, perhaps even as an entree. Salad? A mixture of crisp greens, fresh peas, blanched asparagus, and goat cheese crumbles, with a citrus dressing. Also delicious and deserving of a spot on the regular menu. Pork chop presentation of the evening? MOIST, tender, and flavorful. Could it get any better? The homemade lemon-blueberry ice cream was decadent. Our server this evening, Jess, continues to impress on a regular basis. She is a delightful young lady and an accomplished professional server. The newly renovated Terrace Room is welcoming, so inviting, and comfortable. The noise level was surprisingly moderate even with a full dining room. As I've said many times before, if you are looking for a special dining experience that is consistently a 10/10, look no further than Webster's. My husband and I had drinks before dinner elsewhere once, and I always meant to come back to try the food - and in hopes they'd have the ingredients for the lavender lemon drop (which they did, and it lived up to expectation). My son and I came after a bike ride in the area (and some clothing adjustments on my part). Don't get me wrong. While the food and service feels upscale, most people were in casual or business casual attire. I just felt like bike shorts might be a little too casual. Otherwise, you can totally imagine Parisians parking their bikes to enjoy a late lunch or dinner at a bistro like this. I had a cup of lobster bisque with big tasty bits, and he had a salad. Then we shared a cheese and fruit plate. I forgot to take a picture of that, but it included gruyere, a garlic herb cheddar, blue cheese, a slice of a cranberry and goat cheese log, strawberries, blueberries, and candied walnuts. There was also more of their fresh bread with this tasty berry jam without any noticable seeds. That was my favorite, when spread along with the butter. We also tried escargot. The snail itself is inoffensive as long as you don't look at it too closely, but we didn't enjoy the seasoning. The chocolate mousse was amazing. My favorite place to go for a "grown-up" evening out. All food and service is of high quality. You'll enjoy your evening as well as your tasty food. We love grill night and the burger and bourbon night too for a midweek night out. The french onion soup is delicious as well as the strip steak. They usually have french fries that are light and airy but last visit they we're a bit heavy ; but still tasty. We enjoy their creative drinks too. The bourbon sour is a new favorite. The staff is well trained and attentive without being intrusive. Always a wonderful place to go for dinner. read more

I was there this past Saturday evening for dinner and I ordered the veal chop. I knew it would come with bernaise sauce but the dish was ruined because it was swimming in the sauce and you couldn't see the chop. There's usually a reason why this is done. Went with a group of friends. It was my first time, but others had been before. I had the Webster's burger. I love burgers, especially with bacon, cheese, and mushrooms as was described in the menu. Of course, since this is a French-American restaurant, the burger toppings were more in line with the type of restaurant like bacon jam, gruyere cheese and mushroom duxelle. Unfortunately, this was not to my personal taste at all. I found the bacon jam didn't taste much like bacon and was too sweet, and the cheese was pretty mild tasting where I prefer sharper cheese on my burger. There is serious talent in the kitchen. The seasoning is at times unconventional and definitely exciting. This is the first time I have ever encountered a sweet pepper drop. See photo. The duck wings were disappointing, but the orange sauce which glazed them was fabulous. The Wait staff are cheerful and knowledgeable and helpful. The table settings and flatware and ramekins are bursting with elegance. The ambience is absolutely charming. Service is slow. The dishes are served at awkward intervals. I believe that is the fault of the kitchen and not the staff. They are aware of the timing issues and apologize appropriately but they need a little bit of work in that department. Their wine selection is more than adequate. The staff properly serves the wine, a skillset fast disappearing elsewhere. Their bar is well stocked and they do mix a nice drink. Prices are on the heavy side, but it will not keep us from coming back. If they can resolve their kitchen efficiency issues, this place can be a destination restaurant. read more

This bistro in North Tonawanda is well worth a trip from wherever you may be in the WNY area. It's fits the bill whether it's for just a great meal or a special occasion. The interior space of the main restaurant reminded me of The Left Bank - bar on the left as you enter, seating reserved there (maybe due to Covid) and both lower and upper level seating in the divided space to the right. It was a very popular spot in a snowy Saturday evening but we were seated just after our 7 pm reservation time. Did not get to see the adjacent dining room past the door on the left. The tables in our room had tri-fold screens to divide diners from other tables. A cute way to comply with restrictions on how close to seat guests to each other. All the staff we interacted with (hostess, seater, waitress) were so friendly and clearly enjoyed being there. Did not feel rushed at all even though the place was very busy and we spent almost 2 hours at the table. Enjoyed several of the French inspired cocktails before diving into some salads (Caesar and beet) and the cheese platter with great cheese selections. I thought I would order light and get the mussels and fries - why in the world did I think that would be light- biggest bowl of crispy fries (did I detect a hint of Parmesan on them?). Others at the table enjoyed a creamy gnocchi with lobster special, and the salmon entree. Go ahead and order the 17 layer (or was that 18?) chocolate cake. Enough for 4 to enjoy with even a small piece left over for the teen waiting at home. Would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to try some more of the menu! read more
