Firstly, it's late May, so it's a happy overlap of two of my favorite seasons: Oysters and blue crab! Stormin' Crab offers their blue crabs one of two ways: Either added as a side to any boil (topped with your favorite seasonings), or served as a fried crab basket. The oyster appetizer (sold as six or twelve) can be raw or grilled. I adore them raw, and these are Bluepoints! They were plump, glistening, and had a great sweet and briney flavor. My husband's gumbo was thick with rice and andouille sausage, with baby shrimp. It also had a powerful black pepper kick. Very tasty! The boil arrived on a stainless steel platter in a large plastic bag, ballooned out with steam. We had chosen the butter, medium spicy. I thought the saltiness overpowered the flavor of the seafood, but your mileage may vary. Combo C had so much food we took a third of it home! We really enjoyed our meal here! read more

Update- reducing to 2 stars as I got sick in the middle of the night. I think the seafood was fresh enough but assume it was the grease. I haven't gotten sick from their butter base in the past. I used to love the seafood boil here but they switched to flavored oil rather than butter. It's not the same taste or texture. It left the boil tasting under seasoned. Update: subtracting 1 star because my kid got sick from the oily food. Never again. The staff was so nice and the facility is very clean however we just didn't care for the food itself. We ordered the cajun mix for crawfish and snow crab and garlic butter snow crab. All the boils are doused full of butter flavored oil (not real butter) which didn't allow for any flavor to reach your tongue or the meat. I may be spoiled with real Louisiana and Texas crawfish and seafood boils but the oil was so unpleasant. The crawfish was oily, flavorless, and tasted dirty. The crab was probably presalted and just reheated in the boil. I asked for some cajun seasoning and salt to sprinkle on top but there was just too much oil. I am disappointed with this type of boil and hope I can find a more traditional type with no oil somewhere in Buffalo. read more

Lunch specials are my favorite!!! I enjoy this steak hibachi with noodles and the vegetables were cooked perfectly and refreshing for a delicious. My favorite part is the complementary seafood bread is to die for one of a kind. This is such a fun concept, brought me back to seafood boils on the boardwalk of Maryland. Our server was great, the place is so cool, you can write on the paper table cloth, the walls, the pillars outside. Fun experience all together! The food was delicious we got combo number 6, it had crab legs, 2 lobster tails, shrimp, potatoes, sausage and corn. It's fed 3 people no problem. We ordered it with garlic butter and mild. Great seafood here and attentive service, visited multiple times throughout the years, although competition has been heating up, Storming Crab still keeps the same level of quality and service here, if not even better. During my most recent trip, we had the shrimp and snow crab leg combo with house Cajun and garlic butter, they are both very good. Mind you I got there and was ignored while she bussed tables. When she finally did come she took my order and forgot to bring me my appetizer additionally the special I ordered was snow crab I never have liked Dungeness crab and would never order it but that's what I received. Came here with my family/party of 8 and we were able to be seated right away on a weekend lunch. This place is pretty good for a seafood boil place in Buffalo, location is relatively close to University at Buffalo north campus. I got one of the seafood combos and it comes with snow crab legs and potato pieces, corn and other seafood such as shrimp with cajun sauce. I also tried it last time with garlic butter and both are pretty good but it depends on each person's preferences. They come with free seafood bread that has crab meat and cheese on a piece of bread, and it is one per person and that is one of my favorite parts of the meal. They give you a bib and the cracking utensils, so I geared up and took the obligatory selfie pics before we got our food. (not a long wait at all, btw) And seafood we received. Our server poured the contents out of the bag onto a platter and I started drooling immediately. I will say if you don't love garlic, you might wanna tell them to go easy on it.... it was very buttery and garlicky . The seafood was plump and not dried out . The sausage was juicy and smoky, even the potatoes and corn were yummy. I probably could have finished all the seafood if I truly applied myself, but instead I left some to take home (they packaged it nicely so it wouldn't leak) . Great to find seafood boil in this area of NY state. It's close to a major highway. Options are plenty with different types of seafood combos. Any type of seafood is available. Had the dinner combo #2, which included pound each of snow crab, shrimp, clams, sausage, potatoes and corn, serves 2 people. Fresh seafood, meat came right off the shell, price was just above $60, very reasonable as some city places nickel and dime you for potatoes, corn and sausage. Service was good, lady checked up on us often enough. If you have a birthday to celebrate, they will sing for you and give you ice cream, no candles. Decor was quite great, had a wall with different seafood in the ocean for picture taking. Above the entrance is a giant snow crab. Food came out hot and ready with copious amounts of butter, salt, and spice. Big meaty portions of crab, nicely split open for easy access (wear the bib, it helps) accompanied by potatoes, corn and sausage. The boil can easily feed 4 or more people depending on how big of an eater your crew consists of. And don't forget that they start you out with a glorious serving of warm cheese bread. Throughout the restaurant you will find signatures of patrons that have came , on the beams, the seats everything. I found that to be a nice touch to the decor. For a Saturday evening It was pretty empty but the service was still amazing. Our server was very sweet and patient. I was disappointed with the drinks. We had the electric lemonade and the calypso cooler. The electric lemonade was very sweet and you didn't really taste alcohol. When you are seated they bring you some hot cheesy garlic bread.
