I had one of the worst experiences of my life with REMSA Health, specifically with a staff member named Taylor. She was extremely unprofessional, completely disregarded my mental state, and kept raising her voice at me even after I clearly told her I was having severe anxiety and needed her to stop. Instead of helping, she escalated the situation. Taylor went as far as trying to diagnose me on the spot -- and everything she said was completely false. The things she said were not only inappropriate but downright horrible. It felt like she was more interested in pressuring me into an ambulance than actually helping me, like a used car salesperson chasing a commission. It was manipulative, insensitive, and absolutely unacceptable. This company is unprofessional, overpriced, and predatory. I refused to get in their ambulance, drove myself to the ER, and even the doctor confirmed that the "diagnosis" she tried to give me was completely wrong. Do yourself a favor: have someone drive you or call an Uber before you ever step foot into one of these scammers' vehicles. REMSA Health is the last place you want to deal with in an emergency. Because I was the one in the ambulance, I wasn't able to take photo. And I didn't know a photo was taken until I got to the hospital. My partner took the picture to show me the dogs were concerned. In March 2024, I had a medical emergency . I was reluctant to call 911 because I didn't know what to do about care for my mom. But once I realized my partner could stay with her and I could go to hospital alone, it fell into place. The EMTs were great. And honestly, they always have been. I have dealt with REMSA on numerous occasions. Whether it was for my parents, my hospice/senior patients, or myself, the EMTs show compassion, knowledge, and patience. Last week an ambulance was called to an apartment at 800 forest st reno nv. The first ambulance got james right away. A second remsa ambulance driven by a very obnoxious young lady showed up. She entered the wrong end of the complex but refused any guidance from us tenant's. She was banging on james door but he was out front in the other ambulance. I tried to let the female ambulance driver know but she started screaming at me to mind my own business. Really this is a senior apartment complex. There is no reason to come in here with s bad attitude, or to treat us rudely. I tried three times to explain no one was in the apartment. The woman just kept yelling snd screaming. Yes. I give REMSA five stars. They saved my life when I had a very serious ground level fall resulting in a closed head injury with mild concussion, 21 stitches across my forehead. Of course I was concerned about the financial impact, especially from ambulance services. We know that these are private company's etc etc. I went strait to Yelp to see what folks were saying about their billing and claims and I saw the references to collections. Here is what I did and my advice: 1) don't wait for the bill; call REMSA and believe me, they will have you in their system; they did not forget about you. Being proactive will get that bill processed asap. 2) call your insurance carrier to alert them that an ambulance bill is coming. Get your coverage information. Most ambulance services are all Out of Network EXCEPT IF THE SERVICE WAS CODED AS "EMERGENCY". So push the ER and REMSA to code it properly. My carrier told me they could see the ER notes and that it was clear it's was an emergency, so likely the ambulance bill will also say "emergency." Recap- it's in network if coded EMERGENCY. My carrier/policy - BCBS, pays 80% in this case. I pay 20% after my deductible has been paid. The $10k ER bill ate up the deductible so that was out of the way. Paid what was left of that deductible. 3) REMSA expedites bill to BCBS and YOU call your insurance to verify when they get it and push them to process asap. I point blank said collections is a real concern if this is not dealt with asap. So the insurance carrier processed and issued the check 4) I called REMSA to make sure they got the check and to pay my balance. Done. 5) the ambulance bill for a 4 mile trip was around $2,000, and insurance covered about $1,600, and I paid about $400. 6) this is a lot and there's a real problem with these costs!! But it's the reality for now so be proactive. Diary your Outlook calendar and keep notes of your progress. 7) in my research, I found there is a "monopoly" in that REMSA is the only service in my area of Washoe County, deal with the govt/county. And guess who sits on the REMSA Board? The President of Renown Hospital. We made an apt to have a new car seat installed in our sedan. Making the appointment was a simple phone call and they got us in a few days later with no trouble. The lady who was helping with the install noted that our new car seat was of poor quality and really not very safe for our 2 year old. She actually gave us a brand new car seat that she said was more appropriate for the car and safer for our little guy. She was knowledgeable and generous and really saved the day when we learned that our car seat that we had purchased from Target for over $100 was inadequate and probably past the ability to return. Car seats can be a really stressful thing for parents and the program at REMSA and the program (Point of Impact) is such a great community resource. It's $25 and they make sure all the boxes are checked in terms of safety and comfort for your little one. They literally get in your car and do all the grunt work while educating you on how to keep your kid safe. Amazing and Caring people. read more

Last week on the 26th of October I had a massive heart attack. My wife called 911, REMSA paramedics showed up and the young man & lady did a fantastic job. They ran the proper test, EKG, got me on the gurney in the truck and off to the hospital. He was very skilled in starting an IV, they sent another EKG to the hospital. They we're very friendly and treated me with dignity and respect, really helped calm me down from a very scary event. Once in the hospital, their cardiac team was ready for me and the cardiologist placed 3 stents in right away. According to the cardiologist I had " minutes" left and because of the paramedics and cardiac team I have a very positive prognosis. Thank you REMSA, my wife and family appreciated you making sure I have another chance at life. read more

Getting two stars for getting my 5 year old granddaughter to the emergency room at Renown. The crew was told that she was a Type 1 Diabetic and yet they acted like she was faking the condition she was in. She woke up early morning paralyzed on one side of her body, foaming at the mouth not able to talk much. She had the classic signs of a stroke yet that is not common in a child so young. But shouldn't the crew have listen to us when they were told that this was serious? Instead, the acted like she may have been faking her condition. My daughter-in-law is a nurse (close to acquiring a PHD) and she knew right away just how serious this was for her child. The other two kids had to experience this episode (one of them also has Type 1) and it is something that will bother them for a long time since they thought their sister was dying. She needed experienced help immediately and their assistance was lacking medical insight. Type 1 is a serious disease and it can be life threatening at any time day or night. My son and his wife have constant stress taking care of the two kids medical needs. It is overwhelming and the to have EMT's who took the situation so lightly was awful. Both of the kids are under the care of the top medical doctor for Type 1 in the U.S but he is at Stanford. They could not reach him so they were stuck with Renown. She was put through all the tests. It was a slow process but she finally came out of the medical event although for days she was uneasy on her feet. The Stanford doctor has a name for the event she suffered. It is not common but she could have died. The EMT's need to be schooled in all medical conditions, even the rare because you just never know when it can happen to someone in your care. Next time listen to the parents, they know the situation and treat every child's medical situation as an emergency. That is why and ambulance is called in the first place. read more

I am giving them two stars because of a ridiculous billing issue that I was working with them on due to my insurance short paying. Long story short, I said I would pay, just don't send me to collections and please notify me if my insurance does not pay. Simple request and they did not notify me, and sent me to collections. Unacceptable. The employees that picked me up were awesome but their AR department needs some help! read more

I only have respect for the EMTs. I feel and broke my arm in March 2023. My insurance company sent me a check for the amount they owed to the insurance company. Sometime after this, I get a bill from REMSA for the full amount, including the discount the insurance company has negotiated with them. My Explanation of Benefits said I should call the insurance company. They tell me to send the money back and they will pay REMSA. I send the money back, but a month later REMSA calls me and tells me they will send me to collections. Insurance says they are processing the claim. Today I get a bill from REMSA. It shows that my insurance paid what was owed, but now REMSA wants the discounted amount. I'm filing a formal complaint with the Nevada Department of Insurance. I had met my plan year out-of-pocket maximum by the time the claim was processed so I shouldn't owe anything. If I hadn't met that, my charge would have been around $200. REMSA wants almost $1000. I was transported by Remsa on February 8,2018. I was found unconscious not breathing. I was later diagnosed with acute respiratory, kidney and liver failure. While I don't remember all that they did I'm smart enough to know that their response saved my life! And for that I'm forever grateful! read more

If I could give them 10 stars I would. Last Weds I was having a heart attack. I had no idea it was a heart attack. I just felt weird suddenly and had overwhelming something is not right feeling. We called 911 within minutes of me feeling this way and by the time REMSA arrived I was sweating profusely, I was pale and I was having a hard time breathing, speaking or even thinking and I was in pain. All I know is that I was scared. The EMTs assessing me were professional, kind and efficient. They decided quickly that I should go to the hospital. In the ambulance they told me I was having a heart attack and they got to work. I was now terrified...they were amazing. Reassuring me, helping my try to calm down, getting IVs in knowing the waiting team would need them. They also gave me a high dose of aspirin to stop the heart attack in its tracks. They got me to the hospital fast and I was handed off to another team. Turns out I had a heart attack referred to as a widow maker. The largest artery in my heart had a long blockage. The blockage was cleared and 3 stents were placed in my artery. I have zero permanent damage to my heart which I can only attribute to t HG eir swift and correct actions. I hot so, so lucky. My life will never be the same and it was the single most terrifying few hours of my life but I am grateful and in awe of the REMSA team who truly saved my life by acting fast. Our community is lucky to have them. This isn't a business any of us want to frequent but trust me, if you need them you're going to be happy you called. read more

Even though I get their Silver Saver Plan with the additional Care Flight coverage. I have to say their office customer service sucks. They never sent renewal cards last year at all. And an email I sent regarding this to them for next year has been left unanswered. You would think they would respond in a more appropriate manner to people using and paying for their service plans. But no, and to try and get someone on the phone, ridiculous! Makes you think it's all about the money!!! read more

I have tried several times to work with their billing department. My husband was taken to the hospital several times and each time I gave them the insurance information. Apparently their billing department run by Tonya can not follow instructions. He is a 100% disabled veteran and therefore covered by the VA as primary and Medicare secondary. They billed Blue Cross Blue Shield, DUH. So, I even went down to their office in 2013 and gave them the information again. Everyone else got their money but Remsa who can't understand instructions. read more

I can't say anything about their transport services, but REMSA (and Advantage CPR) are the best places in town to learn basic life saving skills! I accidentally took the wrong class (heart saver + first aid) at Advantage and needed to enroll in the correct class (BLS for healthcare providers) to participate in clinical rotations for my healthcare classes. My REMSA instructor was thorough and informative, and the class was just a smidge pricier than the class I took at Advantage. When I was looking up CPR classes online, there seemed to be a lot of questionable establishments...REMSA and Advantage both offer a variety of classes to meet your schedule at affordable prices, and are quality places to learn how to save a life. Highly recommended! read more

This is not about the treatment I had by the EMT's. They have been wonderful. However, I found REMSA's billing office never bothered to scan my health insurance card when I sent it to them (twice). But, they were quick to turn it over to a collection agency. My insurance covers ambulance with a $50 copay! Why would I ignore these sharks? I wonder how many other patients they do this to? I sent the information as soon as I received their request and never heard from them again. Then I find out it is on my credit report! I will be filing a complaint with the AG of Nevada. read more

Be ready to be screwed by REMSA. Apparently you can be making payments on your account and they can turn around and send you to collections because it wasn't paid within a certain number of months. After trying to get them to recall the account from collections, the office refused unless I paid balance in full. I was transported by REMSA on 02-07-14 and they lost my glasses. I have called them several times, emailed them, and sent a hand written letter asking to give me my glasses back. They always send me to somebodies voicemail and that person has never called or emailed me back. They just keep sending me bills. I had to by new glasses after a month or more, going without. All this after they talked me into getting into their ambulance for a quarter inch cut on my hand! read more
