Worst massage of my life. I'm only writing this review because the masseuse actually hurt me. I originally came in for a foot massage, but ended up doing a 30 minute bodywork session and a 30 minute foot massage, which I completely regret. I was still undressing as she barged in and made me get undressed in front of her. She started off incredibly rough, and I asked multiple times for a softer massage. She was dry massaging me through the towel for what felt like at least 15 minutes before I finally asked if she had oil, because after a while it just became uncomfortable. For the remainder of the bodywork, it felt like she only knew four strokes. She kept aggressively rubbing directly along my spine, which is literally bone, and I now have bruises and woke up extremely sore. She would pick up my limbs to massage them and then drop them instead of gently placing them back down. She also had no sense of personal space. At several points, she was leaning her entire upper body and stomach over my head, pushing my face further into the table. She also kept pulling my hair. And at one point when I was faced up, she crushed her fingers into my temples, and that is not an exaggeration. It felt like she was actually trying to hurt me. It was a very strange and uncomfortable experience. By this point, I had asked at least five times for her to soften the pressure. And for context, I can usually handle a strong massage, but this was just brutal and lacked any rhythm or technique. The foot massage was no better. My shins are bruised because she aggressively massaged directly on the bones over and over again. She used hot stones on my bones, kneecaps, ankles, and the tops of my feet. I told her it hurt, and she responded, "hot?" I said, "No, you're literally rubbing stones on my bones." She also spent an odd amount of time unevenly massaging my feet. She worked on my right foot for a while, briefly moved to the left for maybe a minute, then went right back to the right foot for the remainder of the session. This was genuinely one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, a man checked me out while both he and the masseuse hovered over me, making the situation extremely uncomfortable. I didn't want to leave a tip because of how bad the massage was, but I felt pressured to do so with both of them standing directly over me. read more

The massage was great. My masseuse was really strong. I really enjoyed the hot stones and definitely worth it for the price. One weird thing was that I heard a photo shutter sound in my room. When I asked her what was that, she didn't understand. It definitely creeped me out, but at least I was totally covered when it happened. Another thing was she pulled my underwear down so my butt crack was out, which I am not used to. They usually only lower the towel to your waistband and tuck it into your underwear. She was still professional but I just wasn't used to being that exposed during a massage. The rooms are not private. They have a narrow hallways and curtains to enclose your space. Don't Do It! Just now had a massage. At first all was well until the phone rang and a new customer came in. My masseuse spent 7 min away from my massage. When he returned I asked him not to leave again because I'm paying for my massage and not for him to facilitate customer service under my dime. Well, he followed my instruction however my partner's masseuse left him 3 times and was away for a total of 10 min. I complained a second time. She refused to come back and massage for the time we were being charged for their customer service to others and still charged us full fare for the total time of the massage. At time of paying I told the male masseuse to his face that his business practice was unacceptable and that it was highly unfair for me to pay for my dual 1.5 massage at full fare. My statement was met with yeah, yeah yeah. No apology no nothing. Clearly they felt it was ok for me to pay for their handling other business not pertaining to my specific business at hand. read more

So far I have had really good experiences here! Is it a "five star" spa in the traditional sense? No. But they provide reliably great massages at prices that I believe leave both customer and therapist happy-- but of course do tip. The massages are very deep though you can ask for more gentle, you're not paying for ambiance, but rather massage quality. Love this little gem. Not bad for a walk-in place. Clean. They demand 20% tips, almost literally writing it in for themselves. If you give the more standard 10% for a massage of this caliber, they will hound you until you make it 20%. I won't be back because of that alone. I'm quite picky about my massages. I'd say this place is good for a feel-good body rub but if you are expecting pain relief, search elsewhere. Just went to this place tonight and service and quality was amazing, so I felt compelled to leave a review immediately. I made an appointment day-of and requested a woman massage therapist. When I got to the spot, I was five minutes late, but the owner or manager took me to my appointment right away. He showed me to one of the rooms and a few minutes later, the masseuse came in. The hour-long massage from the masseuse (who I won't give the name right now because I'm selfish. if she would like to promote herself, I'll update with her name later) was perfect - good rhythm and pressure. Also, before she came in, I had asked the manager what I wanted worked on. Clearly, both the manager and masseuse have great listening/customer service skills because she focused on my said problem areas, without me repeating myself. At one point, I told her she can go way stronger on my neck (which is always stiff), but she said that's not healthy for me and explained why she shouldn't apply more pressure. I actually appreciated this because it showed me she actually understands anatomy and cares about how I would actually feel later. If there were small changes that could be made, I would say it'd be nice if the music was maybe a tiny bit louder so I could get more into it/ignore more of the inevitable outside noise. Would also be nice if there were candles or some added ambiatic sound/scent, but this is a reasonably priced place, so understand those are added luxuries. Ok tonight, I had to finally write a review. I usually write reviews when the service's really bad or extremely good. Renewing Wellness falls under the category of extremely good. The place is very clean. The rooms are very private; it feels like you're getting a massage at home. The ambiance is very relaxing. Sandy is my therapist. She's super nice and very skillful. I've only used her because I love how from the very first day, she took her time to care for me. Sandy takes pride in what she does and she really cares about her clients' well-being. She takes her time and work on the particular problem area because she wants to make sure her clients have the relief they've come to Renewing Wellness for. I went there because I suffer from inflammation; lately, I've been in a lot of pain. And it was becoming expensive for treatments, 3 times a wk. I have had only 3 sessions so far and already I am feeling better. My body is responding very well to Sandy's treatment. The hot rocks, hot towels and Sandy's techniques are doing wonders for me. When I get back to my exercise routines, Renewing Wellness will be part of that budget. At least once a week, I have to get a good sports massage. Today I purchased a gift certificate for a friend who had an accident. She suffers terrible migraines, a result of that accident. I know if she comes here, she will get some relief. Anyone who's looking for relief, good stress management or pain management, Renewing Wellness is the place to come. Oh god. That was terrible. I came here for an hour massage, half body and half feet, after being at a 3-day music festival leaving my body sore. I'm athletic build so it shouldn't be hard to find my sore muscles. My masseuse did not massage one muscle. Not. Even. One. Instead, she pressed hard on my bones and picked on my nerves and tendons. How does that feel good to anyone?!? I wanted to scream throughout the entire massage because it was so frustrating. To start from the beginning. I arrived and was immediately greeted. I was impressed that the space looked clean and the massage table was comfortable--the private massage room actually looked pretty nice. I was told to undress (leaving underwear on) and it took a noticeably long time for anyone to come back. When she did, she started massaging me in a way that just felt like she was going to apply pressed pressure from her palms. After about 10 mins, I asked if she could apply more pressure. She did, using her elbows, which is usually fine except she was pressing her elbows on my spine. Elbow to bone doesn't feel good, it hurts. And that's how it continued, either hurting my bones or tickling me by massaging my sides. I don't get it. Body massage must mean only back and upper glutes because she didn't massage anything else. When she got to my arms, she again, just managed to rub her elbows on painful parts of my arm instead of any of the muscles. Forearms, for example, usually feel good, yet she never touched it. And to my surprise, instead, she picked at a nerve in my elbow like a guitar causing a tingle to run down to my hands. Again, does not feel good. Finally, she moved to feet. At this point, I'm not feeling confident, and for good reason. It was the worst and most bizarre foot massage I've ever gotten. It consisted of her rubbing lotion between my toes, and scratching the bottom of my toes and feet. Never actually rubbing my feet in any of the places that was sore. When I thought she was going to rub my shins, she again only ran her knuckles along the bone, which hurts! To my surprise again, she started moving around my knee caps--how is that meant to feel good?!? By the end, I was feeling almost desperate for it to end. I actually should've just asked her to stop. In addition, although they play music to try to cover up the street noise, it was noisy. All I heard was honking and people from the street level. It wasn't a relaxing environment or massage. Not only was it a waste of money (or maybe I'll pay for it later with body aches), but it was also a waste of time. The reviews were good and I am surprised. But looks like a lot of the reviews are from people who only ever wrote one review, which seems questionable. Either way, I'm unhappy and uncomfortable. Hope what I learned from my experience helps someone steer clear from this place. read more
