I was vaguely contemplating getting the windows replaced. Of course I was thinking high quality, zero margin, high skill moderate wage installation. I was sold by the door guy to get a quote. Which I did want. When the agent arrived, I had just read every comment here. I realized that nothing the Anderson representative could say would even be worth discussing. I asked for an on the spot quote for 10 windows double paned argon. She tried to change the conversation. She told me that the competition windows were not as good and they could never match on price. I told her what I want from Anderson, she could never deliver. I suggested a price of $4000 for the double paned argon for 10 standard windows. She tried to deflect the conversation. I told her she should carefully read all of the yelp reviews. I then described in detail everything I had read. She said it wasn't true and left. It's sad that these reps are put in the position to try to make this type of sale. read more

When trying to make an appt, they require both you and your spouse to be present so that they can push you into buying right then. They must think we are not smart enough to get more than one estimate. My husband works late and on Saturdays, so having him at the appt was nearly impossible. Just wanted to send a note to tell you how truly satisfied I am with the purchase and installation of my new Andersen windows. From the very beginning of the process, I have been impressed with your entire team. I contacted you and a competitor on the same day. I had a salesperson from Andersen in my home the next day and the representative from the competitor about 10 days later. The sales rep, Brandon Jones, was very informative and helpful and convinced me that the value of these windows was worth the cost. My next contact was with Kristina Miller, Operations Manager, who kept me informed along the way about payment, scheduling the measurements, the window order and arrival and finally the installation date. She was always pleasant and extremely customer oriented. I believe the gentleman who did the exact measurements was named Don. He clearly was very knowledgeable and shared important information about his role as well as the upcoming steps in the entire process. He was very professional, pleasant and efficient during his visit to my home. If possible, I would like to request that he is assigned to do the measurements on the remainder of the windows I plan to replace in about 60 days. Although I was already a very satisfied customer, I was totally convinced of your desire to put customer service first when I met the installation crew today. Any homeowner gets the opportunity to meet many employees from various service industries over the years. The installation group led by Dale and Trey is by far the best I have seen. They present themselves as professionals, they were pleasant (not one person on the nine member team had a bad attitude), they worked well together and you could sense a true appreciation for each man. We purchased 11 windows in October 2011 and had a very positive experience. Our sales rep, Brent was patient, knowledgeable and very clearly explained why their product was different from the others. Our order arrived in the time frame stated and installation went smoothly. All three installers were friendly and worked quickly. Brent's manager, Logan came by that evening to make sure we were satisfied with the install. In July during the worst part of the Texas summer heat, our a/c downstairs quit working. The a/c company was busy and wouldn't be out for 2 days to look at the system. After compartmentalizing our house, we were very certain the purchase of the windows from Renewal by Andersen was well worth it. The room with the new windows was a significantly cooler temperature from the rest of the house. We've had one issue that required a repair call. The company was equally responsive and Don was able to take care of the issue on-site. There was no charge for the service call. Overall, we have been very happy with our purchase. We recently decided to replace our remaining windows in the house. We will continue to recommend Renewal by Andersen to everyone! read more

I am also surprised by the negative comments! We first replaced 4 windows in our master bedroom. The process was great from start to finish. Yes, the initial meeting with our salesperson was a bit long, but very informative and not pushy. We wanted to try them out in one room first, and we have just completed phase two with the remaining 16 windows in our house. The quality of the windows is amazing. Certainly helps with sound, internal temperature and look of the house. Craig Case and his group of installers were amazing. We were so impressed with them we waited a few weeks for our second installation just to get on their calendar. Supervisors also present at each job to ensure satisfaction. Yes, these windows are not inexpensive, but well worth the investment. You won't regret purchasing these windows. read more

The woman who called to confirm the appointment was so rude and arrogant I cancelled the appointment to have them come out to even provide me with an estimate. Here's the story: I explained I knew what kind of windows I was looking for yet the woman I spoke with insisted that her representative would need 90 minutes to go over colors and styles. I explained again I have done my research and knew the type windows I'm was looking for. She insisted that "this is how we do it. If we don't have enough time to walk me through all the options they'd have to schedule a second appointment." I stressed with her a third time that I should be able to help the rep out by explaining exactly what I was looking for when they arrived. After talking to a brick wall for five minutes, I canceled the appointment. I guess renewal by Andersen forgot who the customer was. Well in this case the customer is now someone spending her money with another company to replace my windows. read more

This company is sneaky and deceitful. They called our company (we install and repair alarm systems) to repair an alarm system damaged by their installers. The homeowner said that it took this window company over 3 weeks before they called anyone to come out to fix the alarm. We went there in November 2013 and spend over an hour trying to repair the alarm contacts (wires were covered up in the walls by the window installers). We had to quit after over an hour with no fix. We would have had to cut multiple holes in the walls to complete the repairs. Then the company has not paid us even though we have been told multiple times by their office people that they are "extremely sorry" and would check on the payment. If this company over-charges for their installations, charges thousands of $$ for 3 or 4 windows, has their installers mess up your security system so you can't use it for weeks, and refuses to pay a $95 repair bill, would YOU trust them to do a good job and take care of you? read more

We just finished having all of our windows replaced (23 total). I am very pleased with every part of the process from the sales through the install. The windows look great. I would totally recommend RbA if someone were looking for new windows. I am surprised at the negative reviews. Here is my experience: - setting an appointment - yes, I was initially told that both myself & husband needed to be here. My husband wasn't available M-Sa so either the sales person spoke w/me or no one. We scheduled a date convenient for me. I had no problem getting an appointment. - sales - the salesman was super nice. I told him straight up that I didn't want an bs and no hard sell or I would stop listening. Yes, he did compare their product to other products on the market: I have no problem with that bc he was not rude about any product or company. (Also, I had done some research & also heard from friends about their experiences w/a variety of window types.) - expensive - yes but lifetime warranty. Plus I want a window that won't leave gaps as our house "shifts" as they all do in this area. - installers - fab! Craig was the team leader: super nice (as were all members of his crew). They were clean and efficient and left the house and yard in good shape. He explained everything including installation questions. No problem at all with any of the installers. Overall, I have no problem recommending RbA. I was pleased with every aspect of it ... would I like a less expensive window - sure who wouldn't. But I like the quality and everyone involved that I met. And of course, I like the windows. (Actually, what prompted me to initially schedule an appt with RbA was a house that I saw when I was out walking w/a friend. I asked the homeowner who installed her windows: RbA also installed hers. They were beautiful. And she was so pleased with the entire process that I called them. And no...she was not a friend or relative: it was literally just a house that we passed while walking.) read more

It's unfortunate that you can't give someone 0 stars. 1 is too many for this company. In an industry that is notorious for bad behavior, these guys take the cake. There are so many things wrong with this business it is hard to know where to start. I'll list just a few. These people start by trying to make you believe that they are actually a part of the Andersen company. They aren't. They are an independent dealer that represents this territory for Renewal by Andersen. Everything about them though would lead you to believe that they are actually Andersen. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with this fact, it's just troubling that they go to all this trouble to make themselves seem like something they are not. They have the most ridiculously high pressure sales tactics of any company I have ever seen. If you let them in your house, they will stay until they have worn you out. You should count on at least two hours, but more likely three. If you can imagine the most over the top used car salesman, and then multiply that by 10, you will get some idea of what I'm talking about. Get ready to see videos, demonstrations with hot lights, cold air sprayed on glass. They have it all. They will lead you to believe that if you want replacement windows made by the Andersen company, you have to buy the windows from them. That's simply not accurate. They try to make you believe that all other Andersen manufactured windows are for new construction only. Poppycock. There are many dealers who sell Andersen windows and either all or almost all of them can be sold as replacements. This company only sells one window, the Renewal by Andersen. Andersen has many lines of windows from woodclad fibrex to aluminum clad. Renewal only sells one line, the pure fibrex material (similar to the Andersen 100 series). It's good stuff to be sure, but don't believe that you can't put any of the Andersen windows in your home. They will tell you that their windows are bar none the best replacement window available. What is best? It's all in the eye of the beholder. Their windows are really nice, that's true. They are well made, that's true. But are they the best? I'm sure that Pella, Marvin, Fleetwood, etc... would love to argue this point. Best is what's best for your application and your wallet, and that may not be Renewal by Andersen. They will spend a lot of time telling you why you should never buy a wood window, or an aluminum clad window, or a vinyl window. What a joke. There are a lot of homes where a well-made vinyl window would be the perfect solution. Find a good manufacturer, like Don Young, and you will be thrilled with the quality and price of the product. Fibrex is nice stuff, but a well designed Andersen 400 or the Andersen Eagle looks a lot better and will last just as long. It's amazing to me that this company spends so much effort to associate themselves with Andersen and then poor mouths the other styles of window that Andersen sells so much of. These guys will even tell you things like, "You know, you cannot put an all aluminum window in a house in Austin, TX, because they are so inefficient." A half truth at best. There is absolutely no law against aluminum windows in Austin, and I'm sure that Fleetwood windows, who sells a ton of high energy windows in Austin would disagree. The most outrageous thing about this companythough is their price. Any comment you read that they will quote you 4 to 5 times the amount of just about any other comparable quality product is absolutely true, and I've got the paperwork to prove it. They quoted $86,000 as the base price for replacing windows in my home. They discounted this on the quote to $66,000, as a special offer. When I bluntly told the salesperson they were out of their minds, the person had the nerve to act offended. I showed this person quotes I had in hand that ranged from $8,000 to $17,000. Now admittedly, the $8,000 quote was for a Jeld-Wen vinyl window, and I would not have bought it (not because Jeld-Wen is bad, they are very good, but because vinyl windows are the wrong thing for my house). The $17,000 quote though is for a comparable quality fiberglass window from a high-end manufacturer. After a little more discussion and a phone call to the sales manager, the price was lowered to $38,000. Are you kidding me, they dropped their price after only 5 minutes of discussion by almost $30,000. That's nearly 50%. If they follow this post with a reply that says this is not true, I'd be happy to show anyone the quotes, including the written $38,000 offer. Do not do business with these people. Someone who engages in these business practices is basically dishonest, at least in my opinion. If you're just bored and want to be entertained by a truly amazingly silly experience, call these guys and hear their pitch, you won't be disappointed. I completely agree with Jeff's review. Yes, these guys are actually 5X more than the nearest competitor. We had a guy come out to our house in Plano for a quote. He was completely irritated that he drove from Arlington in traffic for 2 hours to get to us. He was the cheesiest salesperson we have ever met. He trashed every brand we mentioned and claimed that Vinyl Windows are a scam and every one of them cracks and will only last 1 year. He then pointed across the street and said look at your neighbors house, those vinyl windows will only last him one year. You can see how the lines are crooked, etc. We have received quotes from a couple vinyl window manufacturers in Texas ($400 per window) that have been referred to us by people that have had these windows for 10+ years and very happy. Anyhow, back to the sales guy. I was so tired of his complaining about driving from Arlington that I said, "well, you need to call your office and have them load you up with client calls on the way over and the way back. if that's not happening, then it's clear you guys aren't selling any windows. We had Anderson windows another house about 5 years ago and they were very nice, but not 5X the nearest competitor nice. Don't be suckered in by some cheesy used car salesperson that comes to your door in a suit. A suit? Are you kidding me? The renewal team needs to completely rethink how they are selling. Consumers are completely turned off by the used car gig. In fact, just send a $12 kid out to measure and leave a small sample of a window. Consumers are smart and they will make the right choice but you cannot beg them to buy something that is so egregiously overpriced. In the end, I had fun getting under this used car guys skin repeating over and over that I need a window from him for $300-$400 and he needs to sharpen his pencil. read more

Renewal by Anderson I am certain is one of the best windows on the market however our home with has only 9 windows was going to cost us $33,000! Are you kidding me? What fool in their right mind world pay that??? The sales man Nick was nice enough however I am a retail general manager and hated his tactics. He kept quizzing me on why do I think this window or that window wouldn't be good in Texas? I told him that he didn't need to give me his long song and dance that I'm certain they were the best in the industry. He insisted on bringing his giant window displays inside for me to see, touch, feel and to play around with. Nick was pulling out all the stops with competitors warranty and information. After almost 2 hours Nick then lowered his outrageous pricing to $16,000 literally half if I would sign today. Um no thank you. No retail company, if these windows really truly cost that much,would not cut the cost in half - you lose your margin and profitability. I asked for a written estimate which I was not given. He then got real mad when I told him I was not going to sign on the line. He then almost tried to act child like and say "what if I told you you could get your windows for free" and then he looked up at the ceiling then said "oh we'll never mind you probably wouldn't care anyway". I told Nick " oh because my electric bill would be cut significantly?" He must think I am dumb because everyone knows that. He wanted to follow up with me and know when I would be making my decision and I told him that I would be in touch if I were to move forward with his offer. We had a guy come out today and give us a couple of scenerio quotes. "you could do 3-4 windows for this much, or add these for this, or the whole house for this... etc." It was a very exhausting experience. They said to prepare for a 90 minute presentation, and it was well over 2 hours by the time he left. And boy did he bring a whole bunch of props. To me this wasnt so bad since I know little to nothing about windows. But two hours of it was way too much. And the price...holy cow. We have about 34 windows in the whole home and to replace all of them, they quoted upwards of $88k. Whats worse, is that the salesman didnt even bat an eye with that quote. We had originally had him come out to quote 3-4 large specialty windows in the front of the house, and just to replace those was going to be $17k! Ridiculous. They did offer financing, but it wasnt cheap either. and the interest rate wasnt very good. They do make a very good window, probably the best. But we would sooner move to a brand new home with brand new windows, than spend that kind of money (that we dont have) on replacement windows. Yikes! read more

My husband and I have had nothing but problems with this company. 1)They ordered and installed the wrong windows. 2)We were lied to about them selling tented windows. 3)The installers left our gate open when they left letting our dogs out of the backyard. 4)We had to call to get the windows fixed. 5)We had to call to have the guy come out and paint. 6)We signed up and were approved for the 0% interest and are being charged interest. 7)We were charged twice for our windows. The customer service makes the windows not worth the price. I plan on filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

After reading these reviews I'm glad the sales person wouldn't agree to come out to the house. I had given my wife the task of renovating our home. She spent 10 years in the construction industry and certainly knows more about renovating than I do. We had two quotes for windows and she was looking for a third. The company insisted I had to be present with my wife when the company came to give the quotes. Eventually my wife just hung up on the rude salesperson. My wife has been doing the entire renovation on this home (new pool, new AC, new doors, new paint, new shutters, new floors, etc) and this is the first time someone insisted I be there. Yes, these windows are expensive, but I truly believe that in this case, you do get what you pay for. Our experience with Andersen has been top notch. Our salesman, Ryan, was very knowledgeable about the product. His creative expertise in home building/remodel was invaluable when it came to the design of our new windows. He was so vested in the design process and continued to follow up with us after installation to make sure that everything was to our liking. He is even planning a trip to our area to see the finished product, and he lives hours away! The installation was also a breeze. James and John lead a crew that were professional and polite. I still can not figure out how they replaced all of our windows without even causing a single chip to any surrounding paint....but they did! At the end of each workday, they left each workplace vacuumed or swept. You could hardly tell that they had been here! The job was scheduled for five days, but they worked long and hard to complete it in three!!! Our windows are beautiful. The clarity is ultra high definition. Our house is incredibly quieter. I did not buy their windows, but Logan did come to my house for a free estimate that took 2.5 hours. I would give them zero stars if possible. Very high pressure sales with scare tactics and managed to insult us several times. The estimate was for 6 windows and a sliding door. The total came to $12,000+ but with a "special price" of nearly $10,000. Needless to say, when I told him we needed to think about it he said, "based on what?"....based on the fact that I don't want to get ripped off. I on the other hand have and I have learned a tremendous amount of experience a.k.a. dumb tax. By going with a cheap vinyl route not once but twice. Just had the Andersen Renewal salesman (Doug) leave my home after an agonizing ordeal to schedule the call (high pressure from the scheduler), and a contentious 45 minutes of high pressure tactics in our home. The pressure starts when you call to schedule an appointment to get a quote. They want you to commit to 90 minutes --so they can deliver the full pitch! This is like insurance or used car sales--no professionalism just pressure. When we told Doug that we didn't have time to sit through a 90 minute pitch he was offended and went to his car and called his boss. He advised Doug to cancel the call and would only give us a verbal quote for $7,500 for 3 windows--one of which was very small. How ridiculous!! We did an entire home of 14 windows including 3 large picture window with Pella from Lowe's for less than that 5 years ago. I thought this was part of the Andersen company but not true--this is a separate company which sells one type Andersen window and I would advise anyone to be very careful in doing business with them. read more

The wrong color windows were installed. We changed our color choice when the guy came to measure because the initial color we chose was WAY too dark. Apparently, that color change did not get relayed to the company. I was not at home when the installers arrived, but my husband was. By the time I arrived back home, 1 window had been completely installed and that's when I noticed it was the wrong color. Not much I could do about it then. I now have to live with ugly, dark windows for the rest of my life. Some landscaping rocks had to be moved to install a couple of the windows and the rocks were not put back by the installers. At no time during this process was I ever contacted by Andersen. I had to call the company to see when measurements would be done. I had to call the company to see if/when the windows would be in. I had to call the company to schedule the install. For the amount of money people are paying, the communication needs to be better. read more

Yes I'm serious, $52,000. Of course after the calls to the manager and throwing in the 'if you pay half down today' gimmick the price dropped, but still ridiculous. And by the time I finally had to walk the 2-man team to the door I wouldn't have purchased anything from them if they'd offered the deal at $200 per window. I was very impressed with the Sales Person who came to visit and explained all the details of the Windows I will be getting. I felt so good about all I was advised of. My windows are fantastic. The house is much more quiet. No more hearing cars/kids/pets. I sit by my front windows and look out. I love the fact that I do not have to close the curtins to keep the heat out. I knew before going into these windows - they were expensive. I am a very frugal person, but I also know how much these have changed the inside and outside of my home. I am very pleased with the WHOLE PROCESS. Even after they were installed they showed me how to work the windows and clean them. 100 and some years in business is for a reason. Great Customer Service. Nothing I can say that others haven't. Quoted near $40,000 for about 9-10 windows. Tried to sell this as quality product, free financing, extended free financing for 36 months etc. Let's be straight forward here, it's clear those looking to spend that kind of money have done some level of research and clearly understand i) andersen windows are way overpriced its embarrassing, ii) no such thing as free financing and i'm sure its rolled/calculated into an already inflated price, iii) cutting your mythical MSRP price by 1/3rd or near half is not realistic if that's truly what you're willing to do. Pushy sales tactics. Just a thought, why not just price it to be competitive vs gouging and hey people will buy in volume right if you have a good reputation right? dealing w/ these guys makes you feel like you need to take a shower after....just slimy...run the other way and find a good honest window contractor read more

The product is great. Communication is not so great. Example: The salesman enters your home with a ton of information, statistics and different terms homeowners do not use regularly. Then the person that comes to measure starts using different terminology, adding confusion and doubt to the transaction. After two weeks the windows arrived and the inside of the windows were white and not dark bronze, as specified in our order. We told the installers that the windows were supposed to be dark bronze on the inside. They took the windows back to their office. We called the Dallas office and the Minn. manufacturing office and were given different answers. The Minn. office told us that the dark bronze is indeed put on in their manufacturing process in Minn. while the Dallas office says the windows are painted locally. After going back and forth between Anderson locations, there is a quiet period where we do not hear from anyone for a period of time. Of course, we figure that Anderson people are "circling their wagons" and getting their answers in sync. Finally, we agree to have the windows installed, with reservations about having the windows painted locally. The windows were installed, they look great and we are completely satisfied with them. All of the different terminology that was used and the different answers we got from different Anderson people at different locations added a lot of confusion that made for an unnecessarily stressful experience. read more
