Went in for the promotional oil change- you know, the one where you later get a video of how your car is falling apart.. Their recommendations came to just over $4100.00 for items that do not need attention- like clear brake fluid just replaced, , radiator flushed 2 years and 6500 miles ago. A part replaced 1 year ago that is fine. And my favorite, oil leak on timing covers. I took it apart and looked. The most minor seepage and dry to the touch. All the items they "identified" had been replaced except battery ( and I got the used parts) less than 15 months and 6500 miles ago. Stay far away from the scam offered here. Want Honest? Brought my 2008 Cayenne S in for a check up and they were awesome. I had a cracked rim and it was unsafe to drive. One of the mechanics had a set of stock rims and tires and sold them to me. On October 24, 2024 I brought my BMW X5 in for an oil change and I also told them I had a problem where my car stalled out in the middle of the street and would not restart. My subsequent efforts got the car to start so when I took it in I wanted the problem checked because I was concerned and did not want a repeat event . Renn Haus recommended a "Diagnostic Level 1" service, a $117.39 charge. I was told that nothing was found wrong with the car. Two days later, my car stalled out again in the middle of the street. Disappointed that Ren Haus could not find out what was wrong I went to the BMW dealer. It turns out that the Starter and cable were corroded and needed to be replaced. One would have thought that Renn Haus would have thought to look at the starter when I had told them that the starter had failed to work. The failure to find the problem in my opinion was negligence I reached out to RenHaus after the problem was diagnosed in response to their request for a review and heard nothing from them. It seems that if they should have looked at the Starter when they did the diagnostic, since I told them of the problem when I brought the car in and this issue should have been discovered. The lack of any response to my reporting of the problem to them is unexplainable. read more

Did a great job on my Porsche Boxster! Repaired the convertible rook when others could not!

I Spoke with Frank over the phone. I already knew that I needed a rear strut for a Mercedes and Frank shared he could get me a German Aftermarket strut for $1500 within 24 hrs. This is the only reason why I scheduled an appointment for service. The next day I receive a call saying that the strut I was promised isn't available for order and that they could get me an OEM strut instead for more money. I respectfully declined since this is not what we agreed to. I wasn't offered an apology either for wasting my time. Frank tried telling me that if I'm not willing to pay him for the OEM strut that I would owe him for a diagnosis fee!? when I refused, Frank told me off and threatened to call around to all of the other shops in the area and blacklist me for service. I called Rob at S&S afterwards for service and he shared that Frank called him and asked that he jack up the price for any work I do if I come in. This guy is bad news, stay clear of this place! read more

Renn Haus has been my got-to stop for the 5+ years I owned my 2016 Porsche Boxster. Not any more! I scheduled my annual service weeks ago and I was treated worse than if I rolled into a Jiffy Lube unscheduled. I always drop off my car the night before so they can start when they open. They would always give me a call around 9:30 or 10 am to identify what they found...and we would collaborate on what work I wanted them to do. Today they called at 3:15 pm saying they had just rolled the car in and they would get back to me when they had anything. At 4:30 they called with an appropriate list of possible items, but said they would try to work on them tomorrow. I got a $380 oil change out of my full day of waiting. No thank you... This is not the premium provider it once was. read more

"Serviced" at Renn Haus, Sarasota, As an old country boy, I remember farmers moving their cows out to pasture to be "serviced" by the Bull. Well, if you want to be "serviced" just like those cows, take your vehicle to Renn Haus on 2nd Street in Sarasota. The facts of our sad story follow--You decide for yourself before you choose where to take your vehicle for automotive repair. A recent B service bill of $1100 on our 2014 Mercedes C 250 , with 35,000 miles. I ask you: Is it fair to charge $100 labor to install an engine air filter? Another $100 labor to install a cabin air filter? How about $244. labor to install an Interstate battery? The 20 min. YouTube video to install the battery on the exact model Mercedes shows in detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aob-PVB72aE When we requested an explanation of the excessive charges, we received an email reply from Gen'l Mg'r Rob, "The battery was $299.99 and labor was $234.78 (1 hour) for installation, programming battery control, initializing windows, resetting date/time for a total of $534.77. There is NO programming needed on this model.. It's a 20 min job tops. Do the math--over $700/ hour labor???. Adding insult to injury, the car started bucking weeks after being serviced and with the bill marked " spark plug service deferred", we requested an explanation. The answer was, well, you mentioned a tight budget, so we did not service spark plugs. Ask any 7th grader, what is more important for a smooth, safe running car, the air filters or the spark plugs? It's basic common sense. Yet, Renn Haus had no problem charging $250 replacing air filters and leaving spark plugs untouched. THEY now say, we told them to DO air filters, but DO NOT DO spark plugs. Imagine that!! Yes, we are in our mid 80's and sometimes our brains take a nap, but air filters over spark plugs? We're old, but not old fools. Would anyone over the age of 10 or under the age of 110;.suggest air filters are more important than spark plugs? --Yet, that is exactly what happened. Taking advantage of old people is not only wrong--it's unconscionable. Will close this sad story repeating our opening statement... One of the purchases I regret the most in my life. I requested a Pre Purchase Inspection here and they were really nice, really pleasant people, accommodating, pristine shop, truly loved my interaction. I agreed on the full PPI that was going to be $400 and while they were doing it, they said they stopped looking for issues and it made no sense to look further because the car was in such great shape that it just did not make sense for me to spend the $400. They charge me for 1.5h instead and they would not even send me the bill, I had to ask several times. The result was that it only needed to charge the AC, new rotors, a brake flush, rear struts were starting to leak, and rear wheels but nothing really necessary or immediate, only to meet the high standards of a potential Porsche Track Event. Around 6K to fix those minor things. No paint measuring necessary because it was in great condition. They were going to check on the IMS through their Porsche network to see if the parts had been ever ordered and avoid taking down the transmission as well. Now how it really turned: - Rear bumper was red (my car is black) and poorly resprayed, peeling and chipping from the debris thrown in the wheel well by the tires. - Front bumper and hood probably resprayed in the life and with more chips. - Rust found under the rear panels with signs of having tried to be addressed it in the past. - Paint in the calipers cracking. - Needed to replace rotors, pads, sensors, - Engine main hose - 4 new tires. - Wheels were not powder coated properly, they were cheaply painted and paint is cracking in the interior - Suspension in the rear was completely shot for normal driving. -- Drive shaft seals leaking. - One key is all broken and barely working and the other is missing the circuit board. - Just now an oil leak between the engine and the transmission. IMS maybe? - IMS now. - I imagine I will find more surprises. No doubt. I have driven this car about 300miles driving carefully without inspection. I cannot even pass the NJ inspection because the car has been dead with no battery during long periods of time under previous ownership. What exactly did they take a look at? What a dream crushed. I exchanged my cash for a headache car. Not fair. Nothing worse than making a bad purchase. No possible way to break even. I asked for a written report for me to keep more than 3 times to Frank and Corey, they always agreed to it and were going to send it but... never happened. They were going to call their Porsche guy for the IMS thing but never happened. Now I understand why they never put anything in writing. Hindsight now... how in the world did I buy that car? This is my fault, no doubt. I own my mistake. I spent the money in an early Carrera 997.1 that was supposed to be great and ended up spending what could get me a 997.2 with less miles have I not trusted these people. A PPI should save you surprises, maybe not all of them but at least the cosmetic ones. I overlooked a lot of things because of their trusting words about the car. Really not fair. read more

If you want a no compromise shop that will perform quality work that they stand behind take your car to Renn Haus. To some people their car is for going a to b. For me my cars are something I really care about. I do not trust many shops to work on my Porsche because I have had some very bad experiences but sometimes I simply can't do the work in my garage. Renn Haus is one of the only shops I trust with my car. Their service level is incredible as is their technical staff. Brandon is the service manager and he makes sure you leave without a complaint. I do with they would practice better preventative measures for Covid but I won't lower my review for that. I made sure I wore a mask and kept my distance since no one there was taking any precautions. Hopefully they will get with the program before having an outbreak that affects their business. First they don't wear masks or practice social distances I first went to Audi for brakes and got a quote on paper for rear brakes for 807 I then went to Renn Haus and was charged 752 and they added a brake flush for 131 which the dealer didn't require. They also took 2 days to complete the job. If I went to the Audi dealer I would have gotten a loaner car and had the job done the same day. I have a Mercedes that I brought in and had the same problems. I will never use the company again oh one more thing when I scheduled my appointment no one told me that they have moved to new location never mind they are closer to my house and they made me drive out of the way for nothing. read more

I was recommended to come here after some poor service at another location and it was great! They told me up front exactly how much it would cost and exactly how long it take (and even a description of why it would take that long). They called me the second it was ready and when I showed up it ended up costing less than they estimated. They even checked out the rest of the car for me. He took me out to my car and showed me the other work that they suggested needed to be done in the near future and why and proceeded to give me a quote on the spot. Somewhat professional service except he doesn't give you the $99 diagnostic fee price on a quote before he does the service which is being ambiguous. Also, the prices are the same or more expensive than the Audi dealership and at least the Audi dealership has a much nicer lobby area with snacks and shuttle service whereas this place has no real extra services to be proud of. read more

I have had my AMGGTS, Mercedes GLE and Aston Martin DB11 all serviced at this garage, all were a lot cheaper than the dealer's quoted pricing (and lets be honest when you pick your car up after servicing from a dealer it always seems to be a higher number than you expected) Renn Haus in all cases have provided me with the best quality of service. Took my BMW there to have some window work done. The airbag had never been on before but sure was on when I picked it up. I told the shop which had me bring the car back, made me wait for over 1 hr. in the small waiting area, only to be told there was nothing they could do about it. They were not sure if it was a wire or the actual airbag. I have since checked online for possible solutions and had the airbag light fixed. Nothing wrong with the airbag, simple negligence on the techs part when he took the window apart. read more

I took my wife's BMW to the dealer because the trunk open switch was not working. They want $1200 to fix. I then took to Renn Haus and they wanted $700 to fix. I OK'd it and part was ordered. Part arrived and then they discovered the valet switch was on. They called and notified me and sent the part back. They could have installed and billed me. But they did not! Absolutely clueless and useless in Mercedes ML500 transmission issues. Honest mechanic wouldn't do anything if doesn't know what causing the problem and will not charge at all or very minimum. These "experts" were simply "shooting in the dark" and charged for all kind of diagnostics and services, which resulted in no improvements at all. Actually, any shop wouldn't charge for initial diagnostic if perform some service. Not in here. At the end - left over $600 and got nothing in return. You do not have to be an expert, as they claiming they are, to maintenance new cars. Real experts know what to do in extreme cases. Highly Do not recommend. read more

So I go to Mercedes Benz of SRQ and tell them I'm having problems w/ my convertible top...their response is, "You need a new hydraulic pump, that will be $2,400.00" My response, "No thanks." I took my Porsche there to repair a window that stopped working. When I got my car back, the door had been damaged severely and would not close correctly. They tried to say it must have been that way when I brought it there, but it wasn't. Renn Haus did it when making the window repair. They greased the door to try and make it work better, so I'm positive they knew what they had done. Then the owner said they grease all doors as a customer benefit. That's just retarded. Funny, none of the other doors were greased, just the one they damaged. They argued with me and I told them it better be fixed or else. I walked out leaving my auto there. They did try to fix it, but it has never worked the same and still does not close correctly. Stay away from this place! They are not honest, nor do they have any integrity. read more
