I brought my Windows laptop to the service department to assess problems with the Thunderbolt 4 port. I paid $50 for the assessment. When I received the machine back, the tech notes indicated that he had examined only the USB-C port, not the Thunderbolt 4 controller upstream. I was not happy. I called the service manager, Damian, to tell him what happened. Damian not only refunded my $50 but told me to bring my laptop in the next day for a Thunderbolt 4 assessment while I waited. The assessment was done quickly and Damian himself explained the results to me. I was very impressed at how Damian took ownership of the original mistake and took steps to make it right. I plan to make Micro Center my go-to store for computer purchase and repair.

As soon as you walk in you are greeted and sent to the appropriate area. Carole was quick to come over and assist us. We showed her the specs of what is required and then added his own "asks". Carole knew her stuff and was super quick to find him the perfect computer. She also knew what his school would provide and didn't try to take us for more money than necessary! Well, after, almost 3.5 weeks of waiting, I called to check in. They explicitly said, "Oh I was meaning to let you know. We can't fix your deck anymore. We ordered a wrong part and can't find the correct one, and now can't fix it. We're sorry you brought us a deck that is in too poor of condition to be fixed. You can use the $100 toward buying a another product in the store". This is a nightmare. I feel blindsided and cheated.

To make matters worse, I've spent well over $8,000 at Best Buy in the last two years. You would think that kind of customer loyalty would count for something. Instead, I was treated like just another inconvenience. Customer service shouldn't end after 15 days, especially when a product fails less than two months after purchase and is still under the manufacturer's warranty. I wasn't expecting a free replacement outside the store's return policy--I was expecting someone to care enough to help me navigate the warranty process. This experience has completely changed my opinion of Best Buy. If this is how loyal customers are treated when they need help, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. He did the repair work and after I picked the phone up, I noticed that the Face ID did not work. I gave him a call and he explained that he 'forgot' to tell me that the Face ID would no longer work because 'that's just what happens' when the screen needs to be replaced and the senor is damaged. I wasn't too happy about no longer having Face ID, and that should definitely been a conversation at the time of repair, but I just accepted it as it was. I also made him aware that the screen was lifting on the left side in the middle, so much so that it was noticeable from the side and from the front when looking at the screen. I was told that I could bring the phone back to the shop to have the lifted screen repaired. Once I arrived at the shop with the phone, he took a look at it and said 'oh yeah, that's just how these aftermarket screens sit'. There was also a light showing through in the bottom corner of the screen, and when I asked him about it he replied 'yeah, that's just there because it's a new screen but it won't hurt anything'. There were no lights showing through before my screen was fixed. The screen wasn't even broken, it was lifting at the top. I was also told that even if he replaced the screen, it would still be lifted because there was nothing he could do to fix. IRONICALLY, that was the very last screen that he had in-store to fit my phone, RIGHT! He then argued with me that he'd been doing this for 10 years and no one EVER complained to him that the screen was lifting, despite him also saying that all of the after-market screens sit this way. He acknowledged that it was uneven and lifting, but refused to admit that it was a quality issue. He made it a point to tell me how this screen was better than the one I had before. I'm not required to be grateful for a low quality repair job that I PAID for, especially when it's given with poor customer service. Just because it's better, doesn't meant that it's acceptable. I was told that it was my opinion that my screen shouldn't be lifting and that the screen shouldn't sit that way on the phone. I can only speak for my experience here, so if anyone else has had luck with this business, good for you. I was not so lucky. He's very nice when you meet him, but if you have any issues with the repair he will try and gaslight you in to accepting subpar work. He said that all of the aftermarket screens fit my phone that way, I've had my phone screen repaired before at another location and I've never had this issue. I don't recommend this business. Find another business or you'll have to have it replaced twice like me.

It would be on for months at a time, and go out for months at a time. I took it in under warranty, the display was working when they got it, so they sent it right back. Tried again around 2019 with a Pioneer service center in Lansing, had the same result. Asked them to hold on to it, turned on, to see if the display would go out. It didn't, they told me to come and get it. Cost me $175 for basically nothing. Now, the display had not worked since last Christmas. I decided to take one last chance on repairing it by taking it to Craig's. I liked mostly what I read in the reviews, even though they were NOT close by. I dropped it off on a Saturday, explained the problem, they plugged it in and saw the problem also. By Tuesday they called me back after doing a diagnostic on it and explained the problem. They told me what parts they would need, how much it would cost, and if I agreed, that it would be ready in a week. I agreed to their price, thought it was reasonable and in line with what I was willing to pay, and it was indeed ready within a week. They showed me that the display now worked, and for the first time in eleven years, my receiver is now fully functional. It is a very good receiver, have no qualms about it. Everything else on it works fine. So I am pleased as punch to have it back. I recommend Craig's. Treated me well, did everything they promised at what I thought was a reasonable price. I would go back. (Even though they are 50 miles away from me.)

They explained that they don't refurbish items, only resell, so because one of the controllers had a sticky button and a worn joystick pad, they couldn't accept the consoles. It made sense, and they were clear about it. Even though we didn't end up selling, they were still helpful and took the time to guide us, which I appreciated. Overall, still a positive experience.
