Wakes always depress the hell out of me anyway, but afterward we ended up at this bar restaurant. It's a totally regular, blue-collar joint. Nothing fancy or phony about it at all. They had the usual stuff sitting out as the wake crowd shuffled in. Trays of wraps, wings, pasta, Caesar salad, sausage and peppers, that whole routine. Average food, really, but it got the job done. Everybody was feeling pretty happy as the drinks came in and went down celebrating this mans life on this depressing planet. It wasn't great or anything, but it didn't pretend to be, which I respect. If you really want to know the truth about the dining area, the whole setup in there was funny as hell. On one wall, they had all these cartoon posters, or whatever the hell they were, like Artificial Intelligence Smurfs and Angry Birds and all those childish pictures hanging up like it was a damn nursery. But then right on the other wall, they've got pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, like they're trying to act all classy and sophisticated, which just killed me. It's such a strange contrast that it almost breaks your heart. And then over on the bar side, it was just this huge square bar where a bunch of locals were sitting around watching the Mets lose on TV, some old bar fly playing a version of compacted nine pins. They were all staring at me like I had two heads or something just for wearing an expensive suit, which depressed me as well.

Of all the places that I've been to, in my humble opinion, this place has the best outside K-Paul's. There is a reason that it's one of the most requested items from the restaurant. It was excellent! Why am I making a fuss about cornbread? Because it's the details that make a restaurant great. Next came the chicken wings in Alabama White Sauce. I'm now a convert. Sure, I've had it a few times, but this version was eye-opening! Perfectly smoked, then fried chicken wings slathered in this red-sauce alternative was an epiphany for me. I don't think I'll ever look at the humble chicken wing the same way again. I am spoiled for life! Goodbye Buffalo, hello Decatur (where the sauce reputedly originated). I have been going to Renzos for over 30 years. Today will be the last time I ever go there. This was a family owned place and have sold to new owners. I did not know this until I had the worst experience ever with the new management today. First thing to mention is the portions were half the size and the price has been increased and the quality has fallen off a cliff. I called them to let them know and the most obnoxious imbecile answered the phone and was unable to have a coherent conversation about the food, or the ownership of Renzos. It was literally like speaking to someone from a mental institution. I will never go to this place again! And I was a patron for 30 plus years. It's a shame this place was a hidden gem until these new owners have taken over and destroyed the food. Don't be fooled by the name It's the only thing that wasn't changed. 100% not the same place. Very sad about this the previous owners were the nicest people you could ever want to deal with. I will miss them. read more

Renzo's Pizza is Fantastic ! It's got that old fashion taste. Crispy thin crust with just the right amount of sauce and a sprinkled layer of cheese that melts to bubbly perfection. They serve up a REAL New York slice..... the kind that existed before sbarro's came in and ruined everything with excessive breadlike dough, jarred sauce and a layer of cheese so thick that the whole of it can be removed in its entirety. Whenever you're in the Port Jeff area, you should stop by Renzo's in Mt. Sinai If you think the Pizza is good you should taste the meals ! read more

Love, Love, Love their pizza! I only get their pizza because it is absolutely the best on Long Island. Their White pizza is superb too and their Grandma AH-mazing!!! We have been eating at Renzo's for 20 years and they are the real deal! Eggplant parm hero is also fabulous. They are so sweet too. Love Sal and Nat always so good to us! Highly recommend!! Recently under new/original ownership and they have completely revamped the place! The food is FANTASTIC....We went for my dads birthday and were amazed at the portions and their service was wonderful and attentive. I have a dairy allergy and they went above and beyond to confirm no cross contamination, which is quite challenging at an Italian restaurant.
