He sent his guy to estimate the job and it was over 30K PLUS the cost of a new hot water heater and installation. I was up against a deadline because I was leaving town for a job, but I did my due diligence and took some other estimates. I found Repipe Expert on Yelp for my whole house repiping project. The communication was smooth from the start. Ruben came over and explained how he would proceed with the project. He strikes me as someone who is willing to take the time to do a job well. Since Ruben was on site every day working along with his crew, whenever I had a question or request, he was there to respond. As the project progresses, we found the drain pipes were quite outdated and decided to replace the whole system. I originally met Ruben when we needed to Repipe my mom's house which was several years ago. He did an amazing job his crew was all amazing and they kept parts of the house useable during the process. Anyways he did an amazing job and we have not had 1 issue since he did the work. Over the years we have used him and he has always gone so far and above to get it done fast and to the standard he demands, in fact he has always been there and the other jobs which were smaller he always did them himself, which I really like. We recently had a gas leak after the meter and could smell gas Ruben dropped everything and came to run new pipe he upgraded the pipe and put everything back perfectly. The last job, he just completed for us tonight, was one that he came after his other job to change out my mom's water heater. He made time to do this even though he worked all day, just to get her up and running again. He even asked me if it needed to be done today or if tomorrow could work and I said sure tomorrow is fine, but he came tonight so she had hot water. When you've come to the realization that you need to repipe your home, you find yourself in a tough spot. Our early '60s house had original plumbing and had needed to be repiped for a long time when our main line suddenly broke. I called around and got several estimates. Since the house is a steep climb above the street, it was particularly challenging. Ruben arrived the same day that I called and devised the best solution of all for routing the main with minimum cutting of concrete. His price was very fair. Wow, don't know where to start. We needed a rental house we have repiped. We had a quote from another company but they turned out to be a flake. They asked us to meet and 1 1/2 hours later they call and say they can't make it at this time can they reschedule. Well, I believe if my business is not good enough for them I will find someone else. Short Version: If you need a repiping in your multifamily/single family property, self or tenant occupied, or new construction, do yourself a favor and call Ruben now. His gear, his team, and work results are perfect reflections of himself: professional and precise. You'll never look back. Or look for anybody else for future projects. Detailed Version: I bought a 4-plex that was in dire need of new pipes. At the same time I had the city install new water meters for each unit, so this was a good opportunity to get it all done in one - new pipes and separating out each unit to its own meter. Going into it, I knew it wasn't going to be easy, since all units were occupied by long time tenants. Housing Department wise this is not an easy task. I had multiple companies come out and bid on the project to get a sense for price and efficiency. Ruben, the business owner, came out and took a look at the property, inside and out. We talked for a while about the goals of the project with timelines, the challenges, and intricacies. He immediately stood out from other contractors. He seemed honest and straight forward. He kept it simple and by that I don't mean a "no big deal" attitude but the bottom line was clear and precise. Where there was a clear task, he said so, and where there were possible variables, he did not dilute those. By the end of our conversation, there was no question for me that I wanted to work with him. His bid came in and it was perfectly appropriate for the scope of work. The next time we met, was at the Department for Building and Safety to apply for the permit. He was super comfortable with the process and knew every step along the way. The next 3 months went by, for me to go through the Housing Departments requirements, to be able to begin the work. In all this time, Ruben was patient and I kept him updated on the progress. I got a sense that he was an in-demand guy, just from other job site stories he told me. When I finally got a start date for my property, Ruben was ready for it and put it on his calendar. He had anticipated about 2 weeks for the project. We spoke a few more times to coordinate the start of the project and then we met the 1st day of the work at the job site. I met his crew and they all were more than friendly and kind. I felt relieved, since they would enter my tenants homes and spend the next weeks there. Ruben understood this and was concerned with making sure that the tenants and their space was being respected. In the next two weeks, Ruben and his crew, repiped the entire building with new hot and cold water lines. He used a combination of PEX A, the highest grade of Pex piping, and type L copper pipes. He ran into a few smaller challenges along the way but handled them all with no problem. As a result there were basically no surprises since he had anticipated it all and we spoke about it in advance. Originally we did speak about the possibility of replacing the drain lines as well, but Ruben said, he can tell in more detail what needs to be done, once the walls are opened up for the repipe. At that time, he suggested to replace a few drain lines but ultimately it made sense, to replace them all for a complete job. Ruben agreed and in order to keep with the original time line of 2 weeks, he brought on additional guys! Absolutely brilliant! Ruben went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right, to code, and to his own standards. To give an example of his holistic view, he made sure to only cut the tile in the bathroom that was absolutely necessary to cut and showed the same consideration in all other areas of the work! He made sure to keep his footprint small, and the crew did an amazing job cleaning the site at the end of each day. The tenants were happy and comfortable throughout, and that relaxed me. Long story short, the inspector came in, looked at the work and was impressed by the quality of the craftsmanship! He signed off on the spot and the guys closed the walls so my tenants could get back to their lives. The project was done on time, on budget, and above and beyond expectations! I'll tell you this, I deal with contractors here and there, but Ruben is different. When he said he would call, HE CALLED! When he said, he'd be there, HE WAS THERE! Well, I was a skeptic but now I see why all 5 star reviews for Ruben and his team. We had a pinhole leak in the bathroom and learned that our neighbors, whose houses were all built at the same time, were having leaks every couple of months so we decided to go ahead and repipe the whole house. Wow. It is quite invasive, but surprisingly, they put it all back together like new. It is kind of unbelievable really. We had 3 companies come and give us quotes, all were in the same ballpark, but Ruben had the best Yelps, and said he would be here for the work, which he was. It is annoying when you deal with a person who gives you the quote, and you hire them, then you never see that person again. Well, Ruben is there and doing the work, and his years of experience show. He even adjusted his schedule to accommodate our bathroom remodel (which was due to the former leak). I would recommend him highly for a repipe. He did some extra work for us at the curb (we paid) and he changed our kitchen faucet (we bought) for free. Would have been $100 to have a plumber come for that. I was inspired to write this review after such a positive experience with the "Repipe Expert". After vetting several contractors , I decided to go with Ruben, the Repipe Expert. I only needed to contact him once. No need for confirmation's the day before the appointment, the day of the appointment, or 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Ruben showed up on time without all the unnecessary phone calls and e-mails. Ruben was extremely knowledgeable. He suggested he would provide "T's" for future connections for a lawn sprinkler system. His crew was very efficient , fast, and hard working. They had removed all my old galvanized pipe within a span of an hour. My whole house was completely repiped in "L" type copper including the Main , with all the fixtures installed and working in one day! Quite an impressive feat considering the amount of labor that was involved to retrofit an entire house with new plumbing and having running water at the end of the day. If I could rate Ruben and his team ten stars, I would. I initially found Ruben here on Yelp and liked his reviews. He came to give me an estimate and spent a full hour here looking at my drain pipes and then explaining what I've got and what the problem is. During this time he drew out my pipe configuration and all the places that need replacing to illustrate what needs to be done. As a visual learner I really appreciated him doing this as I gained a much better understanding of what had to be relaxed and why. It inspired confidence. Earlier this month, we discovered a leak that had flooded the crawlspace of our home. The water had to be pumped out and then the crawlspace dried out. Our water had to be shut off completely. This would leave us without water for at least a week, yikes! Turns out we needed to replace an old leaky main pipe going to our garage/laundry/rec room. Ruben and his team are top notch. I had his company and another (5-star rated company on Yelp) come out for estimates and it wasn't even close. After a 30-minute inspection, Ruben gave me 2 bids: 1 for PEX and 1 for copper, and gave me the pros and cons of each. The other company performed a 15-minute inspect and gave me a single bid for copper. Ruben's PEX and copper bids was about 20% and 50% more expensive, respectively, than the other company's bid, but his bids were detailed with every item that would have been done in every nook and cranny in our house. I am wise enough (read: gone the cheap route too many times) to know that there's a difference between price and value. I chose Repipe Experts and it took them 2 days to do all the re-piping (I went with PEX) and another day to patch everything. We were in the middle of a 3 apartment complex bathroom remodel. Mind you the apartments were built in the 1940's.The plumbing part was fixed as needed as issues arose. So, before Ruben and his team got there, the plumbing system was a mess. However, after Ruben our tenants are pretty pleased at the outcome. They now have fresh and clean running water coming out of all the water pipes. Everyone worked well together and arrived on time to do the job. The way a job should be done. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I could contact Ruben at any time and I would get a response within a reasonable amount of time. Ruben's quotes were appropriate for the amount of work he had to do on our 3 bedroom apartment. He is very far in his quotes, doesn't want you to pay for something that isn't necessary to have done. I am so happy I decided to go with Ruben and his team at Repipe Experts! They were amazing, did an excellent job and were professional, cleaned up afterwards and were extremely helpful through out the entire process. Came out on time and kept me informed the entire time. They found a leaky gas line on my hot water heater and just put on a new one, moved a hose bib, all extras and just took care of it no extra charges! Not often do we see customer service like that!
