    Pork skewer

Casual Filipino fare Bar/karaoke vibes Service: they'll come and take your order and get what you need, the bare minimum- it's a bar after all Vibes: legit karaoke lounge, live band area and karaoke area Food: Grilled fish - whole fish, flavorful, lemon on top gives it a nice freshness Lechon garlic rice with egg - yummy; good balance with the egg and rice and Lechon Chicken skewers - a little more lean than the pork skewers - pork better though Pork skewers - fatty and delicious, the sauce is a great combo with the pork Pork sisig - really creamy with the sauces and flavorful Deep fried intestine - really crispy and crunchy, not a lot of the intestine flavour - absent of it basically, a little too crispy though Don't come here if you're dieting, this food is rich and delicious. Come if you want to drink and eat bomb ass greasy food. Parking: good luck getting a spot if it's busy

Filipino comfort food, buckets of San Miguel Pale Pilsener and Red Horse, free open mic karaoke. This restaurant is located at the corner of Bathurst St and Wilson Ave in Little Manila. We ordered plenty of food and beer. Recommend their lechon kawali and kare kare. Come by when you're bored and looking to start a career in singing, drinking and eating. #whenhungerstrikes #filipinofood #6ixeats #foodie #yelpelite #yelpreview

    Mixed Seafood in Aligue Sauce

Came here with our family as it was highly recommended by locals. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Pork BBQ is a must. Those BBQ was immediately consumed when it came. Both the Kare-Kare hits the spot. We also ordered garlic rice to pair with all our entrees My favorite is the mixed seafood with aligue sauce. I haven't had that before, so that was a new and exciting one for us. It was seasoned well and not salty at all. Aligue is the crabs fat so eat with caution. The garlic rice is really good for 4-5 people. Although the lady who served us said it's for 3. We over ordered, but wasn't an issue as we had so much left over we had breakfast and lunch the following day. I would highly recommend this place is you're in the area. The staff are very accommodating and that definitely compliment our experience

Pork Sisig (Minced pork made from parts of pig head & chicken liver, seasoned with calamansi, etc). Part of Magkasalo Meal bundle - $25.

It was around 9:30 PM late into the night, and we were looking to get something to eat. All the other restaurants in the area serving Filipino food were already closed so we only have this place available. I have my doubts coming in to a restobar for dinner reasons because they usually have sort of like an entertainment or live band bill/charge on top of the food order, but good thing that was not the case. Republika has the signature Filipino dishes available in their menu. Personally, I was craving for some Bulalo with bone marrow (Beef shank & bone marrow), and my companion was looking to get some good old-fashioned Pork sisig (Minced pork, onions, citrus juice, chili peppers, etc.). We can get those dishes on separate orders, but it was great that there was a bundle offer of "Magkasalo Meal" which packaged them together and also included Pancit (Chinese influenced noodles). The food bundle was really great value at $25 which was a lot for 2 people, but can still be enough for 3 people. Ultimately, it was a welcome turn of events as because of the timing of the day we got to explore and check out something we had not initially planned on. A new and different experience is to go dine here again with a live band performing. It was a Thursday night during our visit and there was no one playing.

I was surprised at how busy the place was on a Monday evening. It was packed, with lots of people waiting for tables! It's going to cost you likely over $1k for a table of 10 but it's definitely a meal you'll remember. We got steak, lobster and crab, roast pork, soup, fish and rice and noodles. Everything tasted great. The crab was a little overcooked as the meat stuck to the shell and the steak was a bit under and more rare than medium rare but everything was delicious. This location is much more modern and nicer than their original location in Scarborough. Didn't realize you get a discount if you come on your birthday for the whole table. They were nice enough to apply for us after we paid and saw the signage outside.

My brother got the urfa kebab (mild minced beef served with bulgar, tomato, pepper, and onion) which he enjoyed! My partner and I shared the tavuk pirzola (chicken dark meat served with bulgar, tomato, pepper, and onion) as well as the mantarli karsali pide (mushroom and melted cheese). The latter came out very quickly and hot and was so delicious. I think that was my most favourite dish I ate. It also came with green peppers that were pickled which was quite bitter and salty. The chicken was charred very nicely but did not have that much flavour. I still enjoyed it with the side dishes. At the end of our dinner, we also got complimentary Turkish tea which was very nice of them. I only had a sip as I didn't want too much caffeine at night. Service was excellent. Washrooms could be cleaner. Would recommend otherwise.

Back to why I do this. I'm endlessly curious about food, people, and the magic that happens when great meals meet good music. Friendships just seem to evolve naturally around a table. And thank you, E, for another incredible photo -- your choices are always perfect. Mercado on St. Clair is a hidden gem. What was once beside my mom's flower shop downtown has now found a home in a slightly more industrial setting on Caledonia -- and somehow, it works perfectly. Cozy seating inside, a great covered patio outside, and that village-style European restaurant vibe you hope to stumble across. First off, the waiter was phenomenal. He walked us through the menu, explained everything perfectly, and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The menu is massive -- meat, seafood, everything you could want -- but we came for the paella. We were told it takes time because they make it the proper way. Not overly crispy, just authentic, rich, and layered with flavour. Worth every minute of the wait. To start, we had the gambas / shrimp in a rich red garlic and herb sauce plus extra toasted bread for dipping, per our waiter's recommendation. Absolute rockstar move. The other appetizer was a delicious beef stew served over crunchy rustic bread. Simple, hearty, and top notch. Now... drum roll please. This may have been the best paella I've ever had. Okay okay, maybe somewhere along the coast in Spain I've had one fresher... but this was absolutely off the charts. Zero fishy smell. Just beautiful saffron-infused rice with that perfect slight crisp, loaded with mussels, clams, octopus, calamari, shrimp, and more. Built for two people to share and completely unforgettable. A few glasses of house white later and bam - there was absolutely no chance I was going back to work. And dessert? I kept telling myself: "No dessert, Frank. No dessert." But there's a rule in life ; if you see crème brûlée on a menu, you order it. This wasn't exactly crème brûlée, but a cheesecake-inspired version of it. Two spoons, four bites, and thank you very much. Favourite meal of the year so far. Completely blown away by this place. Mercatto -- go now. Go fast.

Overall, the lobster and steak were definitely the highlights of the meal. The food was good, but unfortunately, the overall experience was quite disappointing. I understand that people come here for the food that everyone raves about, but for me, good service is just as important as good food. Unfortunately, the service was very mediocre. It may have been due to a language barrier, but our food came out at completely different times, so we weren't able to enjoy our meal together. We also asked for ice water when we first sat down, but it wasn't brought to us until we were already halfway through our meal--and only after we asked each server who had walked by us. We had to ask multiple times for both ice water and rice before we finally found someone who understood what we were asking for and was able to help us. This was our first visit and, unfortunately, probably our last. If you're coming strictly for the food, I would recommend the lobster tower and aged steak--they were definitely the best parts of our meal. However, if you're looking for a great overall dining experience but don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, you may want to keep the service experience in mind.
