Casual Filipino fare Bar/karaoke vibes Service: they'll come and take your order and get what you need, the bare minimum- it's a bar after all Vibes: legit karaoke lounge, live band area and karaoke area Food: Grilled fish - whole fish, flavorful, lemon on top gives it a nice freshness Lechon garlic rice with egg - yummy; good balance with the egg and rice and Lechon Chicken skewers - a little more lean than the pork skewers - pork better though Pork skewers - fatty and delicious, the sauce is a great combo with the pork Pork sisig - really creamy with the sauces and flavorful Deep fried intestine - really crispy and crunchy, not a lot of the intestine flavour - absent of it basically, a little too crispy though Don't come here if you're dieting, this food is rich and delicious. Come if you want to drink and eat bomb ass greasy food. Parking: good luck getting a spot if it's busy

Filipino comfort food, buckets of San Miguel Pale Pilsener and Red Horse, free open mic karaoke. This restaurant is located at the corner of Bathurst St and Wilson Ave in Little Manila. We ordered plenty of food and beer. Recommend their lechon kawali and kare kare. Come by when you're bored and looking to start a career in singing, drinking and eating. #whenhungerstrikes #filipinofood #6ixeats #foodie #yelpelite #yelpreview

    Mixed Seafood in Aligue Sauce
    Regina M.

Came here with our family as it was highly recommended by locals. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Pork BBQ is a must. Those BBQ was immediately consumed when it came. Both the Kare-Kare hits the spot. We also ordered garlic rice to pair with all our entrees My favorite is the mixed seafood with aligue sauce. I haven't had that before, so that was a new and exciting one for us. It was seasoned well and not salty at all. Aligue is the crabs fat so eat with caution. The garlic rice is really good for 4-5 people. Although the lady who served us said it's for 3. We over ordered, but wasn't an issue as we had so much left over we had breakfast and lunch the following day. I would highly recommend this place is you're in the area. The staff are very accommodating and that definitely compliment our experience

Pork Sisig (Minced pork made from parts of pig head & chicken liver, seasoned with calamansi, etc). Part of Magkasalo Meal bundle - $25.

It was around 9:30 PM late into the night, and we were looking to get something to eat. All the other restaurants in the area serving Filipino food were already closed so we only have this place available. I have my doubts coming in to a restobar for dinner reasons because they usually have sort of like an entertainment or live band bill/charge on top of the food order, but good thing that was not the case. Republika has the signature Filipino dishes available in their menu. Personally, I was craving for some Bulalo with bone marrow (Beef shank & bone marrow), and my companion was looking to get some good old-fashioned Pork sisig (Minced pork, onions, citrus juice, chili peppers, etc.). We can get those dishes on separate orders, but it was great that there was a bundle offer of "Magkasalo Meal" which packaged them together and also included Pancit (Chinese influenced noodles). The food bundle was really great value at $25 which was a lot for 2 people, but can still be enough for 3 people. Ultimately, it was a welcome turn of events as because of the timing of the day we got to explore and check out something we had not initially planned on. A new and different experience is to go dine here again with a live band performing. It was a Thursday night during our visit and there was no one playing.

Confirmed by our guest ;) As always, the team here are very attentive and polite, especially our waitress Selena. Seeing that its a Wednesday - OYSTER NIGHT BUCK A SHUCK!? had some malpeques with an assorted tray of their housemade sauces/vinaigrettes to dress! Ebi Mayo - this is one of the many staples and MUST TRYs at Nome! Jumbo tiger shrimp, lightly battered and tossed in a creamy sweet chili sauce - served with a shrimp cracker! Be sure you give that lemon a squirt before enjoying! Sashimi Salad - chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and you cant go wrong with some tasty assorted sashimi on top! I don't know what the dressing is but bury me in it please! Mmm! Samurai Crunch Salad - don't be fooled because it says salad. This bowl is topped with so many different crunchy stuff - crispy wonton, kettle cooked potatoes chips, fried shredded tiny bits of something so good I don't care what it is give me more, and a very nice creamy dressing (optional on the side). Its been awhile since we came by but they got a feature menu with some delicious items like Shoyu Butter Steak and Yuxu Hamachi! Thank you Nome, always a great time!

We made to two separate orders and the other side had a few things missed so the food times came out very inconsistent. The food was all very mid. The only dish that was good was the fried tiger shrimp with ebi-mayo. The shrimp were jumbo and juicy. We ordered a second round of this. The oden soup was also nice and cozy, esp for a cold day. You can't really go wrong with oden soup and udon. Everything else was very average. I wouldn't mind coming back here if someone suggested it but I will definitely not suggest it or come here if I had to pick.

They have a jukebox to add in your songs (long waitlist) and honestly was quite packed on Friday night as well. The server Denis presented us to the dart room where a couple was there. Our group was 5 people so he asked them to just move to the other table so we can take the other two. There were 3 tables in that room. This was perfect because we basically were in a private room, huge plus! We arrived on time for the happy hour and got lots of drinks, no food at all. The shots were pretty watered down or just did not taste 40% vodka at all. Also grabbed two wine bottles outside of the happy hour. Place is quite nice, very fun. Got a free shot, server was so kind as well. A great night indeed. Washroom for women is downstairs and men's washroom was beside the darts room. Would love to come here again for sure.

The food was delicious. I couldn't finish the pasta because I also ate the garlic bread that came with it. So I packed that up to go home. Just keep in mind people this is a pub. It's not a gastro pub where the food is supposed to be michelin star. So adjust your expectations. Having said that I still think the food here is decent. I haven't had any horrible food here. Service: We had a lovely black lady serving us. I didn't catch her name unfortunately. But we have been served by her before. She's perfectly nice & our service from her was great. She took our drink orders first. And then we placed our main dish orders. The food came out relatively quickly as well. We came here for lunch on a Saturday. Ambiance: The furniture has been rearranged a bit. There used to be a sofa at the back near the stairs to the washroom. Now there's a large table there. Other than that it's still the cozy pub vibe. I'm not sure why people have given recent bad review for this place. Hubby & I have been going here on & off for years & not had a bad experience.

Grilled Mentaiko It is quite salty on its own, with a…read moreslightly dry texture and a fine, sandy graininess when you chew it. But once paired with mayo and cucumber, the flavor becomes much more balanced. The creaminess of the mayo and the freshness of the cucumber soften the saltiness, and then the mentaiko slowly breaks apart in your mouth, releasing a rich, briny umami from the tiny fish roe. Mayo, mentaiko, and cucumber are a perfect combination. Beef Tartare The portion is smaller than beef tartare I've had at other Korean restaurants. With chopped scallions added, the overall flavor leans more toward a sharp onion-garlic aroma, and the saltiness slightly overpowers the sweetness. Without pear, it misses that refreshing sweetness and crunch, so the flavor feels a bit too strong. Sizzling Pan Bulgogi The bulgogi reminds me of Japanese gyudon, with a similar sweetness from the onions and sauce. But because it is stir-fried on a sizzling pan, the beef has a light seared aroma around the edges and more wok-like fragrance. It also comes with Korean glass noodles, which soak up the sweet-savory sauce and become slightly sticky and chewy. One bite of beef, one bite of noodles, one bite of rice, and I naturally fell into full "head-down rice-eating" mode. The mushrooms also absorb the meat juices and sauce, keeping the dish from feeling repetitive. Simply Jokbal The "Simply" version just comes without side dishes and rice, but the portion of jokbal is the same. The serving size was honestly surprising, and even three of us couldn't finish it. The jokbal is cut into small chunks, with a high ratio of lean meat. The collagen-rich parts are soft, bouncy, and still hold their shape, giving a texture somewhere between braised pork hock and pig's trotter. The spicy sauce leans more toward the direct heat of Korean chili powder rather than just the sweetness of gochujang, a bit like the spice in tteokbokki. The savory meatiness, chili aroma, and saltiness build up layer by layer. No wonder this is their signature dish. Braised Pork Ribs The seasoning is somewhat similar to the beef tartare, with sweetness from onion and fruit. The rice cakes also soak up the sauce very well. The ribs are not like the small-cut pork ribs commonly seen in Chinese cooking. Each piece has a short bone with a thick layer of meat around it. The meat is firm, fibrous, and chewy, but still deeply flavored from the braising. The more you chew, the more the meatiness comes through. Spicy Seafood Soup The biggest strength of the soup is its strong seafood flavor. The broth is rich in umami without feeling too heavy or sauce-based. The downside is that there is not much seafood: only squid, two shrimp, and a few mussels. The noodles were also average, without much chewiness and not great at absorbing the broth. This dish is more about drinking the soup than eating the toppings.

The tteokboki was creamy and very chewy. The sauce was really good as well. The Jokbal was really tender. It was a bit messy to wrap everything together as there was a lot of water that came with the lettuce. But aside from that, everything blended together really well once put together. Boh Jokbals were really good, but I think i lean slightly towards the spicy Jokbal. It's more consistent with the cuts of meat and the spice added a little kick to it.

When a friend suggested we go to Bistro Mujae for dinner, I was so curious about what it would be like. Tucked off a side street in Koreatown, Mujae has the vibe of an upscale tavern--classy wooden paneling, dim lighting, masterfully crafted dishware from Spirit Wares. From the get-go, the service was excellent, with the staff doing everything in their power to seat our unexpected table of 9 promptly. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. The pork ribs were extremely tender with the sweetness of the apple-kiwi marinade coming through nicely. The perilla cream kalguksu was a bit heavy, but it provided a nice rich and creamy balance to the gochujang-heavy dakdoritang. The server recommended getting the DIY rice balls instead of plain white rice to accompany our dishes, and that was a fun and flavorful alternative. However, I do think regular rice would suit the dakdoritang the best. The stir fried pork with kimchi had a nice bul-mat/wok-hei flavor, but it wasn't anything to write home about. One of the standout dishes was the Korean beef tartare, which had such a lovely pepperiness paired with the fragrance of the roasted sesame oil. In terms of general flavor- pretty solid; I'd be happy to go back. As a Korean fusion connoisseur, I do think there are several things they could tighten up flavor wise, particularly around finding dish-internal methods of lifting the earthiness of gochujang. It would also be great to see a few more light/refreshing dishes, especially with the summer coming up. But with such excellent service, I really don't have any complaints. Would definitely recommend for a night out!

Hubby ordered the fish & karage. We shared the cowboy roll. Cowboy roll is one of my fave rolls at this restaurant. It was delicious as usual & the red dragon was great as well. I tried a piece of hubby's fish katsu & it was also wonderful. The batter was light & it didn't seem oily at all (one of my pet peeves for deep fried food). I even tried a piece of the chicken karage but I didn't enjoy it. Hubby said it was really good though. Service: We had the same waitress we've had to many times before. I can't remember her name. But she's always really nice & gets our orders in quickly. So the food comes with a good pace as well. The quality is always great in my opinion. Ambiance: The place needs a little of a spruce up on the lower level. The ladies washroom is looking a little worn out. Everything is clean though. The look of the restaurant is dark woods & dark upholstery. All of the tables are booths which I like. It makes a nice cozy atmosphere.
