I scheduled an appointment for the third time at Rescue Spa with a giftcard for a swedish massage from my fiance for a Christmas gift. I had amazing massages the first two years (2018 & 2019). When I went in for my appointment on 12/17/20 I had no pain in my body, I was simply going to treat myself with a gift. I had Venus massage me and I left in so much pain. It is one day later (my birthday) and my entire body is sore. I have cramps in weird places that she applied uncomfortable pressure (armpits and hands). My back and neck are sore from some of the movements she was doing. I did not feel that this massage was anything like my previous two and I was very disappointed. I tipped because I understand that she did her job. Unfortunately my experience got worse. When I went to pay with the gift card (my fiance purchased the full service amount), the woman had told me that the price of the service was raised $30 more. This was absolutely disappointing as this was a day to treat myself with a gift and I had not prepared to spend money other than a tip & the gift-card. The waiting area is a sofa and ottoman in front of bathrooms for men and women. Never took our coats or offered water, which any real spa does. I had my first facial ever last week at Rescue, and I must say it was absolutely amazing! Being a guy, this was never high on my list of things to do, but after a few buddies told me how great they are, I decided to try it out. I had an appointment with Tirzah, who was very nice and made me feel very relaxed (being that I didn't know what to expect). She explained each step and what she was doing. She seemed very knowledgeable. Apparently I needed this and I didn't even know it! I was totally relaxed and my face felt perfect afterwards. Don't really know how else to put it! It felt awesome! The rest of the staff was very nice as well. Overall, I enjoyed myself and would recommend it to my friends. It's a nice little treat. My girlfriend loves this place and actually convinced me to try it out. Now, I am not really a ball person so I wasn't sure what to expect. I will say, it was pretty nice. The staff is friendly and service is good. I don't know how much this stuff should normally cost, but it seems a little pricey to me. It might just be because I'm a man and I don't "get it." But overall I think it's pretty cool and I understand why you ladies like it so much. That sounds a little macho. I didn't mean for it to come off that way. I'm just not really in the pampering I guess. It's is sort of an uncomfortable thing for me, but these people made me very relaxed and at ease and it was a great experience. I had a very relaxing afternoon at Rescue Rittenhouse. It is a lovely, conveniently located spa. All of the services I had were excellent. I especially enjoyed my facial with Shannon, who was very sweet an knowledgeable. My only gripe with this place is the locker room/bathroom situation: it is too small and really only comfortably fits one or two people. This place could be much more successful if they increased the size of the bathroom and added stalls. It's definitely worth a trip here for a spa day, however. read more

So I went in today for the "Spa Glow" facial special. Microderm, peel and facial all for $150? Total steal if you ask me....I saw Jeni who left my skin absolutely glowing as the name of the facial promised. Jeni seems to perfect the art of getting down to business on your skin (great at extractions) AND wonderful massage. I was impressed. It's hard to find someone who can do both well. The only thing that annoyed me (like everyone else on here) was the front desk staff. Apparently I was not worthy enough for them to offer to hang my coat up or offer me a beverage while waiting. (Maybe I wasn't dressed the part? Eh) They made up for it though by allowing me to take some samples home to try out before buying (my skin doesn't always react well to stuff). Maybe they're just a little absent minded? I'll overlook it. My skin has not looked this radiant in a really long time. I will definitely be back! read more

I just got home from Rescue and felt I had to post a review. I had a manicure and pedicure with Sally and let me tell you...she is a real professional. Her attention to my nails (trimming, filing, nipping, and polishing) is second to none. She carefully shapes my nails just the way I like them and is cautious not to over-buff. My polish stays on until she takes it off the next week (which considering what I put my nails through is unbelievable). I know I just shot myself in my beautifully pedicured foot, as I will never be able to get in with her again. Going to Rescue is not just about getting services done, it is an experience in its' self. There are pros and cons in every spa but the fact is Rescue Rittenhouse Spa is for people who are serious about having the best there is. read more

First thing's first - the services were fantastic. My friends and I treated ourself to the spoil me package - a massage and a facial. I got a massage from Heidi - she was very considerate and made sure I was comfortable throughout my massage. During the massage, I also received a foot scrub and they were wrapped in hot towels which felt great. I left feeling rejuvinated and relaxed. Michelle did my facial - she provided me with some great advice to maintain my skin after the facial and did her best to keep the process as painless as possible during the pore extraction phase. One negative I do have to note though is the desk service. My friends and I were all charged different amounts for the same service. One was charged $160 - the correct price for the package, another $190 (she did go back to adjust the price) and I was charged $90. Of course I questioned it, and they went back in and adjusted the amount to the full $160 but my debit card was hit with both charges. Kind of a hassle to work through. If it weren't for this problem, I probably would have rated it a 5/5 because the services were fantastic! read more

The decor and convenient location are the major plus factors, but two stars are knocked off for the scheduling. I once waited for a massage for over 30 minutes only to have the masseuse come out of her room puzzled that she had a client. You can also hear people chatting and opening doors outside the massage room, which is a bit annoying. The locker room is small but very nice. There is a steam room and wonderful shower. The nice robs and slippers are another plus. I will say they comped me a manicure with the above snafu, but I went to be pampered and the frustration of that experience ruined it for me. read more

Heidi Oakly is a MASTER massage therapist. I would rather wait weeks for an appointment with her than take a chance with another therapist. She is FANTASTIC. The new space is beautiful and I love the infrared sauna! My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that about 35 minutes into my massage I could hear staff members outside the room walking up and down on the hardwood floor in their high heels. It kind of yanked me out of the relaxation zone I had found. I am hoping this can be addressed. Other than that issue...It was FANTASTIC and I will return!! read more

I had booked a gel manicure and pedicure at the spa. I had just come through the other side of some health issues, and decided a day at the spa would be nice, after a great facial at Rescue Spa I thought I'd have the same experience with nails. The woman who did my nails was nice enough, but the gel manicure lasted a day. I went back and another nail tech fixed two of my nails, as I was going on vacation and didn't want to have two chipped nails. Then the following day as I was putting my suitcase in the overhead bin, another one chipped. This was probably the worst most expensive manicure I've ever had. It lasted a total of three days, even with the fix. I'm super bummed. read more

Amazing little spa!!! Located on the second floor of 225 south 17th street rescue rittenhouse is a hidaway in the middle of the city. As soon as the elivator doors open I knew I could relax. I had booked an appointment for a 90 min swedish, KRISTY BENSON was my therapist. Running close to 20 miles a week and playing soccer had started taking a toll on my muscles and kristy was everything I needed. The changing rooms were very nice all equiped with marbel floors and benches if I do remember. Also a sauna which is for your use afterward. The room is much like every other spa, dimly lit with soothing music. I'm not there for the decor. Kristy did an amazing job, I took the iniciative in telling her about my shoulder injury but she was extreamly polite the whole time. Words cannot describe the magic that comes out of her hands. Over all rescue is an extreamly well priced salon with informative and well skilled staff. I'll be sure to try and make at least a bi-monthly appointment. read more

I've had a facial with Linda and it was definitely 5 stars. It was my first one ever and she was absolutely fabulous at relaxing me and I left with skin like butter. I ended up buying cleanser, moisturizer, and p50. They've been pretty decent products but smell a little mediciney and were super expensive. I've been back to buy refills on everything but the moisturizer- that one is a little too stinky for my tastes. The only thing that brings this review down is the eyelash tinting I got there once. It took place in the middle of the salon and was very stressful. You have to sit with you eyes closed for 15 minutes which is pretty hard to do when you're sitting with so much going on around you. Also, it was really burny but I'm not sure if that's normal or not. I would definitely return for the facial but I'm going to pass on getting my eyelashes tinted there again. read more

Actual service received was adequate, the atmosphere in which it was provided was not. While sitting on a glorifed bar stool for 30 minutes of brow shaping (via tweezing) only two feet away from the receptionist desk, I was distracted by less than hushed social and work conflcit discussions from the receptionist & staff members. Regardless of the service all guests should be granted the privacy, relaxation, and comfort they deserve. I recently had a Brazilian wax here (what they call the Lotus) and a Zoom facial. Pros: I called pretty much the day before and they were able to get me in for both, which I thought was really great. When I got there everyone was very nice and professional. The overall decor was very pleasing and relaxing and they did offer me water. Overall, the prices was extremely reasonable. Cons: The reason that I feel this spa is only slightly above average is because the room that I had my services in was literally right off the "lobby" of the spa so there was a fair amount of background noise. The other reason was because while my wax was very very fast (which I appreciate, but would really not suit a first timer) my esthetician left A LOT of strays...simply saying my hair cycle was off and they were too short to get with the wax, but then she did absolutely nothing about them. And believe me, there were a ton...I was fairly disappointed. I have been at upscale spas plenty of times in my life (although I have never been a "regular" at one) and have really not had anyone leave so much. Overall, I would definitely go back here and my overall experience was above average (compared to some places I've been waxed). I guess I just didn't feel totally pampered and like I was indulging in something really special and decadent...however, it was a very good effort on their part. Be advised: if you order with them online and receive a damaged product (or in my case a 2/3-full bottle of P50 with a broken quality seal), it's YOUR problem--not theirs. Make sure you read the FAQs. This is apparently where all the really important information is kept. Not your order confirmation page. Not the email receipt. Not the shipping confirmation. Don't see the FAQs? I didn't either. Scroll alllllll the waayyyyy down to the bottom of the home page. This is where you'll learn that you have to file a claim with UPS or whoever the delivery company is and then maybe, just maybe, you'll get...a credit? Not a replacement product. Not a refund. Not an "I'm really sorry this happened, how can I help you?" Only once you've gone through the rigmarole of proving to them that you're an upstanding citizen not trying to hustle a bottle of P50 might you get the product you paid for. Might. Kim is the manager and the one with whom I exchanged emails. She (and Michael and Syarifah, cc'd in her responses, but no idea who they are) is seemingly fine taking my money and imposing the burden and responsibility of resolving this issue on me, the customer. If, like me, you find such behavior unacceptable, spend your $ elsewhere. In a world where you can find pretty much anything online, don't settle for this kind of half-assery. UPDATE 04/06/16: I'm happy to see the above review prompted a response. I also received an email saying Rescue Spa would file the claim with UPS. I was in town visiting family recently and had the most amazing facial done by Lory! First of all, the spa is absolutely gorgeous! If you haven't gone in you certainly need to! Second, Lory has the hands of an angel! My skin has never looked or felt so wonderful; it was truly glowing! She recommended a few products and there was no way I wasn't taking her word for what my skin needed. I only wish I could take Lory and Rescue Spa with me to San Diego! I received an amazing massage from Venus! It was very relaxing, and she was incredible at relieving tension in my neck. It exceeded my expectations. I have sooo been rescued! Less than a year ago I started getting facials with Tierza! She gives the best facials! I'm no longer hiding my pimples with makeup and my skin is now smooth and glowing, it's really amazing! She talks with me at the beginning of every facial about my worries and any changes in my skin, she always tells me what to expect and how long it might take to get results. Products are a must, they're awesome! She has made me feel hopeful about my skin for the first time in a long time, I had been to so many Derm's who never seem to take my acne seriously.
