After donating and shopping at this location consistently for years I am still in shock with the treatment I received today. The woman accepting donations publicly humiliated me. Let me be very clear: I in no way planned to donate items that broke store policy. I did not maliciously choose items of low quality. I was doing my best. I was trying to do something good. I was under the impression that the items I was providing followed the policy. Yet she took it upon herself to chastise me in the middle of the store, while holding up an item I had brought in. She spoke down to me in an incredibly cruel tone of voice, and took it upon herself to publicly embarrass me. I left immediately and proceeded to cry in my car in the parking lot. This woman should not be treating people, who are only trying their best to support to a local charity, so incredibly rudely. I am left horrified by my experience, and would caution anyone donating/shopping here. I can't imagine I'll feel safe here again anytime soon. read more

At first I was put off by the person behind the counter. She was not friendly and acted like she didn't want to sell me anything. Maybe she was having a bad day. The other people there were super nice. I found almost exactly what I was looking for. There were things I was not looking for that I wish I had the space for as well. Nice store. Lost of treasures. Used sneakers for $10 but almost half that at goodwill next door. Exact same shoes. I've seen staff roll eyes at a hard of hearing woman when she had them repeat. Seen staff make faces at obviously mentally ill or very poor for having an odor. prices are great if you're antiquing but out of reach of most. I understand they are raising money, however, a thrift also serves the community. Perhaps more staff need a financial and social reality check. I serve these patrons as a provider. I'm not going back. it's sad. They used to be a wonderful place. Now items sit for months due to the price. This isn't eBay, you don't have a worldwide customer base. read more

Cute thrift shop and we got a few cool things. Younger girl at register was very nice: however there was an older lady employee who absolutely shouted at my teen daughter because she started trying a jacket on over her shirt. Like, very nasty and excessively mean. Neither of us saw a sign that they do not allow you to try clothes on in any way right now. I of course understand this policy but she seriously yelled at my 14 year old like she was trying to steal something. Someone please tell this lady to just take it down a notch or ten. The proceeds from Rescued Treasures goes to support Community Concern for Cats, a program to help provide food, medical care, and adoption to the homeless cats of Contra Costa County. That alone makes it ace in my book! As previous reviewers have mentioned, the thrift store is a hodge podge of items and you never know what you will find, but it's worth your time to take a look and see. Lots of books, movies, dishes, crystal and other miscellaneous things where there when I went it. My husband and I dropped off two bags of clothing and they gave is a donation slip, so please consider dropping off your used goods (in decent condition) to help the cats. read more

This place was stop one of our Sunday Thrift Store adventure. This is a great place if you are looking for housewares, decor, jewelry and crocheted blankets. My daughter collects tea cups and they had a great selection. They have a very limited selection of clothing. The lady who greeted us was very nice and friendly. The store is very clean, I can't say that about a lot of thrift stores. We will be back when we are looking for more tea cups. read more

Came here today to find treasures and they have a bunch. I walked in a little nervous because of one review , I wasn't greeted right away but I received a smile while I shopped and finally when I checked out the lady at the counter was super nice,friendly & very helpful . Since I haven't rated this shop since 2010 I'll post an updated review The rather unpopular red headed manager who was there for a few years is now gone so there is a much improved vibe in the shop, KWIM The shop is huge, well lit and clean. There are always lots of very nice home decor items as I think when people get tired of the "stuff" they bring it here. When I had to clean out my Aunt's apartment, which was 4 rooms of stuff, I brought everything here because all profits go to Feral cat rescue and fixing. The staff is, by my guesstimation 90% volunteer and they work really, really hard. It is definitely one of the nicest thrift shops I have ever been in and with all the high quality inventory, definitely worth a stop if you like enjoy "thrifting". Parking is tight at lunchtime due to all the restaurants in the strip but other times there is enough parking. Look for the Caspar's hotdog restaurant, Rescued Treasures is in the very back of the complex. read more

Every thrift store is different. This place seems to get some gorgeous furniture pieces such as beautiful wood-framed mirrors, Victorian pieces, vintage books, etc. China, crystal, decorative ware, cups & saucers, some really special books, kitchenware, chairs, tables, record albums, clothing, jewelry, holiday decor and of course cat and pet stuff. This is the best thrift store in the area by far! The prices are so reasonable, the selection changes frequently, and they run color tag sales every month that keep the selection from going stagnant. There isn't any junk at this thrift store and it's kept very clean and organized. Plus, the money they raise goes to support Communjty Concern for Cats medical care of feral cats in our area. Went there about a month ago with two of my friends, and I was about to buy this dated but cute and useful craft organizer....for about $10 until, I believe one of the older employees, seemed to be annoyed that I was standing in her way. In fact, I noticed a strange vibe of being "observed" the whole time. Hello!! What year is this, and I'm still facing prejudice and racism?! Is it because it's Walnut Creek? (bewildered..) Let's be fair, I did notice the customers there seemed to be 50+ and my friends and I probably looked like we were taking a break from the nearby college campus. Can't tell if this was the reason, because as soon as I came in I smiled and said hello to one behind the counter I was completely ignored. I guess you have to be a "special" kind of customer. Anyway well, that's how I felt.. and so did my companions. So needless to say, I put the item back because I felt scorned amidst the animosity (hahaha joke, sorta). So instead my friends headed off to the nearby Whole Foods Market instead for a much needed breath of fresh air. read more

When Rescued Treasures was located in Pleasant Hill, it was one of my favorite thrift stores. The prices were very reasonable and they had a really good selection of vintage clothing. I found several designer clothing items for $7 or less. I don't know if they hired a new manager/owner when they moved to Walnut Creek, but it is an entirely different store in my opinion. Just as another reviewer pointed out, the prices on many of the items are ridiculous and there is a rude woman that works there who seems to do all of the pricing. She looks everything up on eBay first and bases her prices on those. I overheard her tell a customer, "No, I won't budge on the price. It's priced right." Just a note: most items on eBay that are Buy It Now are over priced. The positives: The cashier that helped me at the register was very kind. Proceeds go to homeless cats. Store is well organized. Clothing items that have been there a while are often discounted (check color of price tag). Advice to management: price items reasonably...this is a thrift store and the items were donated. I was a regular shopper there whenever I was in town. But there is one lady who works there who is quite rude. She is tall and thin, and I think she might be the manager... She had a peace sign belt buckle and short grey hair. That's about all my girlfriend and I remember bout her.. Except her rudeness. We passed on a dining table,because we wanted to see how big it was with the leaf and she was quite rude about the whole thing. the prices have gone up ridiculously.. A guitar gig bag available new for 19.95 at guitar center was $38. Used. They are no longer a thrift store, but an expensive boutique. I am here almost on a regular basis. You really do find some kind of treasure inside. I always walk out of there with some kind of neat item. It's almost like a candy store for vintage shoppers...it's so sweet and irresistible and proceeds goes to support homeless cats! I usually like bigger thrift stores, but I found plenty to buy here! Their clothing selection was small, but the few on display were quality items. Lots of good brands, many vintage, and almost all in great condition. Compared to most other thrift stores, this shop is clean and organized. They decorate using their donated furniture and knick knacks which give the store a rustic feeling. To top it off, the staff is very helpful. I'm not really quite sure why this place gets 5 stars from so many people. I have been here several times as it is so close to my work and can go there on lunch. Maybe it's the older generation that like it? It seems to have a lot of stuff that is outdated and "old". I didn't see one article of clothing worth buying and all the stuff seems to be quite overpriced. I don't like being charged $15 for a sweater that looks like it didn't cost much more than that brand new. The staff seemed really sweet, but I think I can find better stuff elsewhere. read more

The bad news first: someone in this shop clearly has an eye for vintage, and so the absolutely adorable vintage floral pleated dress was priced accordingly. Let me just clarify that I've been on a mission lately to score vintage for garage sale prices, so by nearer-to-the-actual-bay Bay Area standards, the prices were still quite reasonable. Well edited collection, clean and smells nice, friendly staff. I might visit again if I ever decide to swallow my thrifter pride and pony up $9.50 for a dress I could easily score at Goodwill for $5.75. read more

One of the best thrift stores in the area! Where to start... This charity shop benefits cats, and who doesn't love cats? Psychos, that's who. The floorspace is huge, the prices are very good, they have tons of kitchenware of all vintages, tons of amazing glasses, tons of clothing both male and female, lots of furniture, some tools, tons of stuff for X-mas, and it's all mostly clean and well organized. The variety of stuff combined with their large floorspace means that I feel that I will always find something to buy when I manage to make my way out to this shop. They have tons of sewing and knitting stuff if you like that, tons of books, etc.. The ladies working there, named Carol and Joanne iirc, were absolute darlings. I met the lady who I think is the manager and she is absolutely awesome, thanks Theresa! Great shop, worth a visit every time you're in the area! read more

My absolute favorite thrift store so far! Clean and well displayed items, more like a vintage/antique shop then a "Goodwill" type shop. Before coming here (seriously, as in an hour before) I was ready to pull the trigger on buying wine corks to upcycle off eBay. I come in, and see 3 apothecary jars full of them. I started talking to the saleslady and find out someone dropped off BOXES of corks that they were considering just throwing away. They didn't have the rest displayed because they had so many, but if I was interested then she'd bring them out. HELL YES I'M INTERESTED! She comes out with three storage bins (yes, storage bins!) of wine corks and offers them up for $25. Holy winecorks, Batman, I bought them ALL before she could change her mind. Just to give you an idea, 100 wine corks on ebay is around $20. I just scored about 1500 for around the same price! Now you may want to know what I could possibly need that many wine corks for...well, I'm getting married at a winery next year and want to do some DIY decor. I will tell you, wineries are not cheap to get married at, but this was an awesome score! Oh yeah, and I even scored a couple milk glass bud vases for $2 a piece ($7 each at the Niles Antique Fair I'd gone to the previous weekend) and a super cute Peanuts tin recipe box for $1.75! There were some awesome vintage linens and furniture too (but I ran out of room with all the corks, so I'll just have to come back next weekend :) Love this place! read more

I've recently gotten into thrifting and came across Rescued Treasures after I Googled local places in the area. This store is amazing. I go there about once a week and they always have great deals, and most importantly new (to me) items constantly flowing through the store. Their prices are AMAZING--I always feel like I'm stealing from them because they are so well priced. The workers there are very friendly and always are helpful. I volunteer here every weekend and I always love coming in. The staff is very nice and I enjoy helping out by stocking shelves or pricing items. I know I may seem out of place because I'm the youngest person who volunteers there but I don't mind at all. It's very nice store and a good location. I was just treated very rudely by the staff there. I shop there periodically and I have end stage renal disease. My doctor has told me when I feel the need to go I should not hold it as it can further damage my kidneys. A while ago I explained this to the manager who told me I could, of course, use the toilet there and just tell whoever is here that I said ok. Well today was a day That I had to go, the manager was not there and they were guarding the bathroom like gestapos.To the point where one woman said to me "I am not going to stand here and argue with you" and walked away. How nice that people who are healthy and well can be so rude to those not so fortunate. Needless to say I will never step foot in there again. Their compassion must be just for cats and not people. read more

Discovered this thrift shop when friends took us thrift shop hopping in Pleasant Hill. We are not cat people and are slightly allergic to cat hair and dander, so we were a little hesitant to even enter the musty shop. We were pleasantly surprised to find a fair variety of vintage goods. But be aware that pricing is dependent on whose behind the counter! My friend got 5 books at 25 cents each from the sweet old lady who rang her up, and I got books for a higher price from the younger counter person 15 minutes later. No complaints, 50 cents for any book is still a bargain! We later went on to ARF in Concord by Fry's. Our bias to cats aside, we prefer ARF. read more

I almost didn't find this shop because it's in a small strip mall lot and not visible from the street. I'm glad I did find it because it is a cute well organized thrift store. They had TONS of home decor items- they probably took up 1/2 the store. This place gets bonus points from me for having chairs among the bookshelves-inviting you to peruse their book selection. I've been to this store a couple of times. I like how organized it is for each section. They also have flyers posted about which colors has a discount for the month. The color changes I think each month for its rotations. Most of the store is discounted except furniture I believe. The key is that you have to know what you're looking for and it being that correct color that has the discount for that month. I got some fabric that was inexpensive and a zipper. Those were the items I walked out paying less than $2. They have furniture, pet items (mostly cats), fabric, books, shoes, kitchen items, office supplies, stationary items, gift wrap, and bedding. They do have a few specialty items but not a large quantity like wedding items and stuff for your bathroom. read more

This store has some decent finds, but you need to know your prices comparable to other thrift stores in the area. They have a large selection of records and books. The clothes are not that great, but my 21 year old daughter who is a size 2 usually finds something here she loves. Lots of furniture fairly decently priced. They save up the vintage stuff and do vintage sales once in a while... Ask when they are having one... and get on an email list if you can. they are worth checking out. read more
