    Orange Spice Crispy Tofu Sandwich
    Victoria S.

Great restaurant with homey vibes and cool decor. Check out the painted cat mural on one wall and shelves filled with trinkets and cute home decor. The service matches the friendly atmosphere. The menu is mostly classic America comfort food with some Latin American fare (empanadas, burritos, nachos). They have a comprehensive breakfast and drink/bar menu. They also have gluten free and vegan items marked for easier identification. I had the orange spice crispy tofu sandwich with a garden salad instead of the usual fries. The sandwich was on a warm soft Kaiser roll with lettuce, onions and tomatoes. The tofu slab was breaded, fried crispy (but greaseless) with a citrusy creamy dressing. The salad had red onions, cucumbers and romaine. All items were crisp and fresh. The dressing on the side reminded me of a crema sauce. It was filling and tasty but not heavy. They also have live entertainment and trivia nights on certain days of the week.

So, it was my first time here and I came solely to enjoy the delicious empanadas! It is the word on the street! I was greeted by friendly and warm customer service. The ambiance is very diner-esque, it feels like a cozy diner back in the 1950's! Now, let's get onto the empanadas! I ordered a shrimp empanada which came with a tasty romulaude sauce, and a chicken and beef empanada that came with a delicious salsa verde style sauce. The empanadas were seasoned perfectly, filled with juicy filling, bountiful in size, and delicious to the soul! My favorite was the beef empanada! It had a special signature touch, cheers to good eats!

Hey friends! My boo and I came for Valentine's Day breakfast. We wanted something cooked with love. What better place to get that from than a Mom & Pop restaurant?! Restaurant 198 is a locally-owned restaurant that focuses on farm-fresh ingredients & lively environments. They have live music, bingo & other fun events weekly. I ordered the 198 Iris platter: eggs, French toast, smoked bacon and hash browns. The entire meal was delicious! I loved the generous portion of eggs, I could taste that they were farm fresh. French toast was beautifully cooked and had an amazing vanilla-forward flavor. My only distaste is that I wish the hash browns were crispy. My fiancé enjoyed his omelette! -Customer service was great! -Plenty free parking -Prices are average. Our entrees were about $20/each. -Restaurant was clean. I love the rustic decor. I'll be back for happy hour and live music!

If you want good service and food. Give this restaurant a try. Their menu has a like for all your cravings. We've had breakfast and lunch on various visits, no complaints. I especially like the happy hour empanadas. Prices are reasonable too. Don't forget to see the cat mural. I did take photos.

Restaurant 198 completely impressed me, becausehonestly from the outside I was skeptical. However, the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel right at home with their friendly service. The food was absolutely amazing! Full of flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly even better than I expected. What really sets this place apart is the dedicated kids' play area. It's such a thoughtful touch. If you're looking for great food, great service, and a spot that truly welcomes families, Restaurant 198 is a must-visit!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I didn't want to write this review. I wanted to gate-keep one of the best margaritas in the DMV and bring a select few to enjoy it. The owner shared that it's a family recipe, now it's only fair that I stop being selfish and tell everyone :D I love the kitten on the wall, the decor, the seating, and how clean everything is. The food is a blend of American and Latin with a few dishes to represent MoCo (look at the salads)! There's also a vegetarian menu boasting tacos, enchiladas, and burgers; so everyone can be happy! My personal favorite has to be the Smashburger and those empanadas. All the empanadas. 5 stars for the following: Beef Picadillo Black Bean/Corn Crab&Shrimp** Plant-based Beef/Potato Mushroom&Cheese (kinda tasted like a calzone) and 4.5 for the Shredded Chicken. Tiny little pockets of happiness served with cilantro ranch (so tasty) and good vibes. The only one I wasn't fond of was the Chorizo/Jalapeño. The Paint Branch Cheese dip should be the standard for queso and those wings were phenomenal. I'm talking crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Loved their chicken tenders and fish bites too. I would love to see how the mussels and whole rockfish taste :D Overall, this is someplace to bring family, friends, colleagues, and a date with 100% confidence they'll walk out satisfied. Enjoy!

Came across this place on yelp and decided to try it out. It was pretty empty in there for a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the cream of crab soup which was very good!! I would recommend that. They have shrimp and grits, but sauce is overpowered by the taste of tomato. You can't taste the seasoning if there was any. 4 large shrimp but they were overcooked and the sauce to grits ratio wasn't that great. I will say the steak and cheese was really good! Our server was nice but she was slow. For it to not be crowded it was really slow service. I ordered steam shrimp as well to go. The shrimp was a nice size but sadly they were over cooked as well. Wish I looked at it before I left. They have a lot of specials and karaoke night I saw as well but unfortunately in my opinion the food wasn't good enough for me to want to return.

Dined here recently and the food was very tasty. I really enjoyed the mocktail and the nachos. Atmosphere gave off a homely vibe. There were literally toys for kids to play with. Service was ok but could stand some improvement. Our server forgot quite a few things and swore at least 3 times.

For family friendly breakfast diner vibes I give it a 5. We came with a good size party and they did great for breakfast. I think everyone enjoyed their meals. The kids liked the play area. It was very bright and homey and artsy inside. I had the chilaquiles (beans tortilla and eggs). Hubby had the cinnamon toast French toast which everyone eyed.

Blue Corn Huevos Rancheros and a Denver omelette. No blue corn today but still delicioso

Always happy to enjoy local food. I'm in a happy food coma. Kid and big group friendly. I like the diversity of the patrons that come here as well. They also do monthly community events.

Cute place to eat! We went for brunch and my daughter got happy face pancakes, my husband got French toast and bacon, and I got paint branch chips chilaquiles. My mea was wonderful! Avocado was fresh, looked the beans and sauce on top w goat cheese. Lovely. My daughter really liked her side of rice she ordered. They forgot my husbands grits but it wasn't in the bill so no harm. Servers were kind. Love the cat mural. Helpful that they have a small play area for toddlers and a changing table in the women's bathroom.

Before a work meeting, I decided to place an order online so I could pick it up, eat, and be ready for my meeting. Well... that's NOT how that went down. I ordered the bowl with over-medium eggs, potatoes, avocado, bacon, and cheese. My expected pickup time was 8:53 AM. I didn't actually receive my order until 9:17 AM. What a joke! At least the meal looked decent, and thankfully, they got my eggs right. The food was actually good, but honestly, customer service and accurate timing are more important to me. I can always doctor a meal to taste how I want it to taste, but you can't give me back the time I wasted waiting on an order that was supposed to be ready at a specific time. And when I'm trying to get to a work meeting, that matters! Unfortunately, being only 3 minutes away isn't enough to bring me back. Hard pass for me.

Just awful. I don't know if it was the brand of coffee or just a bad batch. There's half and half available, but no other milk/non-dairy options. There are 4 very small tables in the place for standing only. Based on pictures I've seen on Yelp, they used to have a few tables there for sitting. I came today hoping to sit for a few minutes and enjoy a bagel with coffee. Not here. Finally, I ordered and the person who prepared my bagel called out my number and put the bag on the counter. I checked my ticket, confirmed the number, went to take it and another worker (the guy who took my order) ran over, grabbed the bag, asked me for the number and told me it wasn't mine. Then he asked the other person what the number was, she said my number and then he dropped the bag on the counter and told me I could take it. Weird experience. There were only two people waiting for orders at the time - not a huge opportunity for a mixup. Just weird. So, I recommend the place for take-out but skip the cup of Joe. For my dining pleasure, I went with a "meat lovers" omelette (I'm not sure what the omelette was actually called). For 12-13 bucks, I thought the portion sizes were pretty generous. The dish also came with a hefty serving of potatoes and toast. I will say the restaurant kind of gave a no frills vibe, but that's fine.
