Grilled octopus with chickpeas minus a few bites

Very positive experience. Food was great. Waiter was congenial and helpful. Price point is high but worth it. Octopus appetizer, Duck entree and chocolate bread pudding dessert. All fabulous. The one negative was we were there for happy hour and they did not seem prepared for that.

I have dined at Alba many times. Last night was the third visit in a month. I love it, and have also after some of these dinners left (5 star reviews) here. Sadly, last night was a disappointment. We had made plans to dine with another couple. One of the two does not hear well. The main dining room can get loud. After my husband and I had dinner there last Friday, I approached the hostess and asked that we be seated the following week (last night) in the quieter middle room. She looked at our reservation and said that we were already booked into that room but she would make a note of it to be sure. Upon arrival last night, a young woman started to lead us into the front room and I complained. The manager came up and said he had people who had booked it "weeks ago". How is that the case, if the hostess last week said we were already booked in that room (from a reservation that I had made "weeks ago"). I found this treatment to be quite disappointing. They clearly ignored my request, possibly for people who dine there even more frequently than us. Not sure but it left a bad impression.

I have not been to Restaurant Alba in a while but will be coming much more often! This is a hidden gem with amazing food and great service right in the heart of Malvern! What a wonderful atmosphere and community in down town Malvern!!

    Sunchoke special

Alba brings fine dining to the suburbs. The quality of food offered on a menu that changes fairly frequently based on local ingredients availability stands out compared to anything else nearby. The restaurant itself has a fancier dining room area (where we had dinner) & a more lively bar room (where we grabbed pre-dinner drinks). Service is fast & the servers are knowledgeable about both food & wine pairings (helpful with such a large wine menu!). For appetizers, we split the anchovy bruschetta (salty & delicious!), sunchoke special (definitely get bread to dip in this sauce), & eggplant (fried without being oily). For my entree, I got the squab & foie gras ravioli. The brodo was light but flavorful, and it was definitely needed because the ravioli themselves were a touch dry (but packed with flavor). The lightness of the dish was perfect after all the apps we shared, and I left full without feeling stuffed. Alba always delivers! Food: A- Drinks: B+ Service: A- Ambiance: B+

Great food. Great wine. Knowledgable staff. The grass fed ribeye was so fatty I could not believe it was grass fed but super tasty.

We sat at the bar at a high top which at first I was not too happy since I picked a regular dining seat upon my reservation but the hostess made sure I was okay with this even after we sat down. I appreciated that but was okay with the spot because there was live music. The singer was great! We really enjoyed listening to him. The server we had was attentive and made sure we were good throughout the time there. For food and drink I got a summer special strawberry gin drink! It was really good! Tasted closer to a cosmo to me but refreshing during these hot days. For food my husband got the jambalaya and I got the fish and chips. The fish and chips were really great. Good portion size, lots of little dips. Really enjoyed the coleslaw and tartar sauce which tasted homemade. Also came with a bed of fries which tasted great dipping them in the tartar sauce. The jambalaya was great too. It had nice flavor throughout. The only thing my husband wished there was a bit more seafood and less chicken. I tasted the andouille sausage and it was delicious! Overall, definitely will come back for the happy hour, a nice occasion, or to sit outside next time during cooler months.

When we first walked in, they said it would be a 20 min wait, but in less than 5 a table opened up! They had a really great variety of "fun" and healthy food. We started off with a chicken quesadilla that came with pico, lettuce and sour cream. It was really good, just a bit oily from the pan so we had to dab it a bit with a napkin. I opted for a fajita bowl that came with cauliflower rice, grilled chicken strips, grilled peppers and onions, avocado, cheese and pico. It was super flavorful, the chicken wasn't try at all and it really filled me up! My hubby got a chicken cheesesteak which he enjoyed but said that it was very "bready" and he wished for more chicken. The drinks looks great and pretty inexpensive but it was late when we went and I wasn't feeling it. They also had some delicious looking desserts, but we'll get to those another time we're in the area!

One seated we didn't have menus. Then took another 12 mins to have a waiter take drink orders. We ordered food at that time not taking any chances. Another 15 mins another waiter comes and asks if we ordered drinks. We said we did and he asked what we ordered. He brought the drinks out. We ordered Crispy Calamari as an appetizer. It was room temp and chewy. We ate about half before we couldn't take it anymore. We each ordered the COOL RIVER SALAD which said it was; Danish bleu cheese crumbles, Granny Smith apple, candied pecans, maple vinaigrette. Problem was each had big bowl of mixed greens. A pinch of blue cheese. I couldn't find mine. 4-5 pieces of candied pecans and what looked like shredded apple sticks which was wasn't even from a single Apple slice. I thought it was a garnish. It was pathetic. When we flagged down a waiter we asked for some more blue cheese and apples. Waiter didn't even acknowledge our request and returned with a single side cup half filled with blue cheese. Non apples. I was pissed but I got the look from the wife to let it go. She ordered a loaded baked potato which came out dry which had a dab of sour cream an essence of butter, a pinch of cheese, bacon and 3 scallions on it. She asked for more Sour Cream and butter and they brought out another dab of sour cream and side order of melted butter. Not one inquiry as to how the food was. But they were quick to bring check.
