Place was HOPPING with great vibes! we were three couples out for a long awaited meet up and wanted to try the newest eatery in town. I got the Italian dinner in a bowl, it was pretty good, maybe 2 large meatballs, rigatoni and a good dollop of whipped cheese. If you want to eat Olive Garden quality food in less than a half an hour, this is your place. In a town where there are so many great food options, why go here?! My husband and I were entertaining a colleague of his. Thought we'd give this restaurant a try. The appetizer round wasn't out before he kept asking if we were ready to order the entree. Each course came out before the last was finished. Even Olive Garden offers Parmesan cheese and breadsticks. None of that offered here. And... what is up with an Italian restaurant doing sushi?!? Tried happy hour today! A couple good things and some eh. Happy hour is ONLY at the bar, not around. Frustrating, so you cannot take advantage of happy hour if you have kids. That's silly. We arrived around 4:30 by 5:30 it was very loud. Music was fun, but it was very club like for 5:30 Got kids pizza - which was basically a personal size. And kids chx fingers + fries. Good portion. Pork dumplings were okay, but not special. Tuna tartare was fantastic! Came with chips and a nice seaweed salad! Get this!!! All and all it was good not great. Expensive option for kids, I wouldn't take them back. But maybe for a drink with friends. read more

The food was good overall. Not great great but very good. Service was similarly good with one single waiter covering a few tables simultaneously. I think the prices were fair and the selections were reasonable. A couple of weird and seemingly odd choices for an Italian restaurant. LaScala's was decent, i prefer some of the existing local restaurants if I'm being completely honest. We got the artichoke starter and the flavor was good but it was drowning in oil which was not, I could only have a few pieces cuz it would have made me feel sick. I got the eggplant parm for my entree and it was tasty. The pasta and sauce were very good, the eggplant was also good but I would have liked it to be crispier, it was also quite oily. Our server was very nice and the food came out quite fast. The menu is pretty big so I would go back and maybe try other things that are not fried! There was a group of us here for lunch. The meatballs were good. I didn't like the cold ricotta against the warm meatballs. The chopped salad was delicious. We made a reservation for my daughter's birthday. It was horrible! The food was subpar at best (two of our entrées were awful). The waitress could tell, but she never asked us. The eggplant parm... I've never seen eggplant parm made that way ... it was soggy to boot. The crab angel hair pasta dish was so fishy my son couldn't finish it... and I've never been to an Italian restaurant that DIDN'T SERVE BREAD with the meal. ARE THESE PEOPLE EVEN ITALIAN? The waitress couldn't keep up and when we got there, it was early and no one was there... and the booth we sat in had no shade so when the sun was setting ... I couldn't even see the bill to sign it. Again, the waitress saw us struggling and didn't seem to care because we were finishing . The staff otherwise seemed very nice but this was a NO for us and we're old-school Italian. My son said we should go here. This is where he wanted to go for his birthday. That being said, sushi and Italian food on the same menu. Talk about a multiple personality restaurant. Do one thing and do it well! The name would imply Italian food so when they offer you sushi, they're making you an offer you can't refuse. I'm always of the mindset you don't eat sushi on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. With that I went with the Italian, the calamari is nice and the marina with it was good. The cannolis were delicious after dinner. My trouble was in my entrée, the veal marsala. The view was dry and I've seen less wrinkles on an octogenarian. The only reason it was tender was that it was beaten into submission like a Guantánamo inmate three weeks earlier. I won't go back because I was not impressed. The atmosphere is also great and I highly recommend the Poké bowl best Poké bowl I've ever had but the sushi roll was extremely disappointing for 15 bucks. Great food, but sometimes a place can go a step too far. LaScala bosts of a fluid kitchen and food flow which means food comes out when it is ready, per diner. This means there can be 10 or 15 minutes between the first order being delivered and the last. So, if those served early want to be polite and wait for the last person to be served the food cools off. If they go ahead and eat then the person served last eats with those well thru their meal watching. I would advise people to order as a table based on what comes out of the kitchen together rather than ordering what you want. read more

I was so thankful for the attention to detail and fantastic service we received at La Scala's Fire. I reserved a table for 14 for a birthday party on a busy Saturday night and the staff did everything they could to make our evening smooth and perfect! They even gave us 14 separate checks and even divided several appetizers evenly among the checks without us even asking. They let me bring in an outside cake and they lit the candles for us and even served and plated the cake - on a really busy night. The staff was courteous, professional and friendly. Our waiter was very slow, brought our ordered drinks out, never brought us water so we had to ask someone else, and then our food order was taken 45 minutes after we got there. We ordered the mussels appetizer, and the muscles were bad, meaning they were unsafe to eat. We mentioned this to our waiter, who said he was going to talk to the kitchen. I doubt he ever did. We obviously could not eat them yet there was no offer of reimbursing us for them. The food was brought to our table extremely slowly with one of the hot dishes coming first followed 10 minutes later by the three other hot dishes and the . In general, I would not rate the food quality and taste much more than two stars. My eggplant Parmesan was not tender at all. I have been to many restaurants in West Chester, Kennett Square, and honestly all over the US and in other countries, including some two star Michelin rated restaurants. , I would not expect this restaurant to measure up to some of these well-known restaurants and restaurants that have been in existence for several years or more, I would definitely say this restaurant is not ready for prime time. I would definitely not recommend going here, and I will never go back nor will the three other people who were part of this group. read more
