Grilled octopus with chickpeas minus a few bites

Very positive experience. Food was great. Waiter was congenial and helpful. Price point is high but worth it. Octopus appetizer, Duck entree and chocolate bread pudding dessert. All fabulous. The one negative was we were there for happy hour and they did not seem prepared for that.

I have dined at Alba many times. Last night was the third visit in a month. I love it, and have also after some of these dinners left (5 star reviews) here. Sadly, last night was a disappointment. We had made plans to dine with another couple. One of the two does not hear well. The main dining room can get loud. After my husband and I had dinner there last Friday, I approached the hostess and asked that we be seated the following week (last night) in the quieter middle room. She looked at our reservation and said that we were already booked into that room but she would make a note of it to be sure. Upon arrival last night, a young woman started to lead us into the front room and I complained. The manager came up and said he had people who had booked it "weeks ago". How is that the case, if the hostess last week said we were already booked in that room (from a reservation that I had made "weeks ago"). I found this treatment to be quite disappointing. They clearly ignored my request, possibly for people who dine there even more frequently than us. Not sure but it left a bad impression.

I have not been to Restaurant Alba in a while but will be coming much more often! This is a hidden gem with amazing food and great service right in the heart of Malvern! What a wonderful atmosphere and community in down town Malvern!!

    Sunchoke special

Alba brings fine dining to the suburbs. The quality of food offered on a menu that changes fairly frequently based on local ingredients availability stands out compared to anything else nearby. The restaurant itself has a fancier dining room area (where we had dinner) & a more lively bar room (where we grabbed pre-dinner drinks). Service is fast & the servers are knowledgeable about both food & wine pairings (helpful with such a large wine menu!). For appetizers, we split the anchovy bruschetta (salty & delicious!), sunchoke special (definitely get bread to dip in this sauce), & eggplant (fried without being oily). For my entree, I got the squab & foie gras ravioli. The brodo was light but flavorful, and it was definitely needed because the ravioli themselves were a touch dry (but packed with flavor). The lightness of the dish was perfect after all the apps we shared, and I left full without feeling stuffed. Alba always delivers! Food: A- Drinks: B+ Service: A- Ambiance: B+

We sat at the bar at a high top which at first I was not too happy since I picked a regular dining seat upon my reservation but the hostess made sure I was okay with this even after we sat down. I appreciated that but was okay with the spot because there was live music. The singer was great! We really enjoyed listening to him. The server we had was attentive and made sure we were good throughout the time there. For food and drink I got a summer special strawberry gin drink! It was really good! Tasted closer to a cosmo to me but refreshing during these hot days. For food my husband got the jambalaya and I got the fish and chips. The fish and chips were really great. Good portion size, lots of little dips. Really enjoyed the coleslaw and tartar sauce which tasted homemade. Also came with a bed of fries which tasted great dipping them in the tartar sauce. The jambalaya was great too. It had nice flavor throughout. The only thing my husband wished there was a bit more seafood and less chicken. I tasted the andouille sausage and it was delicious! Overall, definitely will come back for the happy hour, a nice occasion, or to sit outside next time during cooler months.

If you time it right, it's fine. If you don't, enjoy wandering around awkwardly with a beer while hunting for a seat that does not exist. Nothing life-changing, but there's enough variety to keep you from complaining too much. Usually a couple decent IPAs--I've been into Coastal Quest lately, so there's that. Food? Also fine. Specials? Also... fine. But credit where credit's due: the Italian Grinder Pizza actually fantastic! RIP Happy Hour beer deals, which is a choice I will continue to side-eye. Bombers still exist, though, so I guess we take the small wins. Real talk: this should be a 3-star place. BUT--the staff absolutely carries it to a 4. But after several satisfying dinners - usually as a…read moreprelude to an evening at nearby People's Light - Fork & Bottle has not only captured my attention, it has also continued to impress. The setting, as you would undoubtedly surmise, is typically hotel-esque in nature. That being said, however, the room still manages to generate a certain generic charm. And I would also hasten to add that the service - even with our various parties of 20 or more - has been excellent in every respect. But on to the food... The dinner menu isn't quite what you'd expect. Take the starters, for instance. The usual suspects - Cesare Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, French Onion Soup, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - as you note, are present and accounted for. However, there are also a number of innovative diversions - such as Soft Bavarian Pretzel Sticks with Delco Lager cheese sauce, Pepperoni Bolognese Flatbread spruced up with crème fraiche, ricotta, Fontina & Parmigiano cheeses, and the Ten Million Dollar Dip that features Maine lobster, sour cream, bacon, cheddar, almond, scallions, and Ritz crackers - that manage to grab your attention. Moving on, diners may choose from either the Entrées category or take a more casual route with Sandwiches & Pub Fare. The former, which lists a number of all-too-familiar ingestibles, still manages to tempt our taste buds by teaming them up with some rather intriguing sidekicks. A not-terribly-exciting Pan Roasted Chicken, for example, is prepared agrodolce, with an alluring sour-sweet demi-glace... Chilean Sea Bass is cooked up teriyaki style... Canadian Salmon is adorned with a sweet & spicy glaze and companioned by mango & yogurt... Sautéed Lamb Sirloin is enhanced with a rich & savory Madeira sauce... and a 10oz Strip Steak basks in an addictive shallot & port wine reduction. Other main course possibilities include Angus Filet au Poivre with cognac cream, Char Grilled Pork Flat Iron marinated with garlic & oregano, Lobster Fra Diavolo, Crab Stuffed Shrimp, and Broiled Scallop & Lobster Gratin. On the other hand, should you decide to take the Sandwiches & Pub Fare route, have no fear, you will certainly not be disappointed. During previous visits, I sampled the Garganelli Pasta Bolognese and the Chicken Cobb Salad. Both were excellent. The former is comprised of buttered garganelli (egg-based pasta from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy), angus beef Bolognese, olive oil, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The latter combines mixed lettuces, hard-boiled egg, tomato, blue cheese, bacon, and avocado sprinkled with a zesty lemon vinaigrette. Most recently, my dining companion made straight for the Crab Cake Sandwich, to which she gave an enthusiastic "thumps up." I, on the other hand, couldn't resist the considerable charms of the Chicken Cutlet & Ranch BLT, a luscious combo on toasted brioche immersed in an incredibly addictive herb ranch dressing. I should add that the delicious hand-cut French fries, which accompanied both sandwiches, were a considerable drawing card as well. The dessert menu runs the gamut... from such familiar sweet endings as Crème Brûlée and Warm Chocolate Lava Cake to Mango Lime Cheesecake with raspberry sauce, Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding garnished with vanilla ice cream, and Frozen Mississippi Mud Pie. The restaurant also offers Bassetts Ice Cream & Sorbet, should you be so inclined. For my money, however, nothing quite surpasses The Desmond's Warm Bread Pudding. Bathed in a sweet vanilla sauce, this is one outrageously rich, thoroughly delightful denouement that more than lives up to its considerable reputation. Simply not to be missed.
