Colorful, maximalist, and funky! I was greeted instantly by the bartender and we talked about the inspiration of the place, and how the sound system was right on for the theme. Let's hope they can get that vinyl system working with the digital monitors... that's always a tedious process! The food though, it brought it home. I got a to-go order and brought it home to my buddy who'd been working all morning. He took a bite and his eyes lit up man. I Love to see one of my guys visibly love good food. He got the fried chicken pozo while I got the meatball sub... once again. Bangers. This place has flavor. Aesthetically, and literally!! Go here. Go here. Go here.

The way my head snapped around when I saw their cute patio & literally said out loud "what is that place?!" Decor: Gives a "moraccan nights" feel. Very laid back. Plush cushions to relax into. Perfect place to hang with some friends. Cocktails: Reasonably priced. You can buy one cocktail or order a groupie that serves 4-6. My favorite is the Daybed. It's light, crisp, and perfect for these hot summer days. Service: Outstanding. Our server made us feel right at home. She was quick to answer any questions and attentive to our table. Food: My group sampled a few po'zo's (think sandwich but folded inside pizza dough bread), a couscous special, and artichoke & arugula dip. Everything we tried was delicious. We had a hard time settling on our appetizer because every single one of their appetizers sound amazing. Overall: Great vibe. Tasty yet affordable cocktails. Delicious food. I am looking forward to sampling more from their menu in the near future!

Then the chicken shawarma elevated the experience. Before I remembered to snap a shot, my mouth was full and happy! Perfectly seasoned, just enough to be comfortable, delicious! Well, Aladdin Cafe used to be our favorite gem... last night…read moreI took my wife & son to Aladdins for me and my wife's Anniversary dinner. our Appetizer the Halum cheese had been a favorite for my wife... however the cook literally just fried it in a skillet and overcooked it. previously this dish was only slightly seared on grill (Arabian cheese). Furthermore the presentation was sub par it looked as though the vinaigrette bottle ran out as they were decorating it So we had only half the normal flavor from the sauce and none of the flavor from the crumbly ovecooked cheese. We had loved the previously authentic Mediterranean lentil soup BUT this time the soup was not seasoned well! It tasted like plain lentil soup with not enough curry/ turmeric seasoning and too much black pepper and it was not blended well and it had NO shredded carrot which is Traditional for it to have! And Zero saffron flavor I also was not happy with the rosewater Lemonade w/ saffron it was not the original drink we fell in love with... This time it was an artificial lemonade no real lemon juice, too much sugar "no saffron taste" Rosewater taste was there but was off-putting in an artificially flavored dyed drink! Our main Entree was the SHISH TAOUK The chicken chunks did not have the consistency of slow cooked over charcoal chicken, the chicken was quite firm, possibly it was all breast meat? However it did taste good and authentic otherwise! my Turkish coffee was okay not exceptional. We had ordered an extra bowl of soup for son but the black pepper taste was too strong for him to eat it! With 20% tip because I do not punish a good waiter because the cook or Restaurant failed, Our bill was $75.36 needless to say without some major recipe changes and better cook we will not be back!

I figured that is probably pretty standard for restaurants though, so wasn't too concerned about that either. We got a kefta plate, falafel plate, and a mango smoothie to share, as a family. The guy who was working told me the smoothie was just mango syrup and ice, which I thought sounded a bit lackluster, since it cost 8 dollars. My husband took a sip of it + said it was kind of terrible/tasted like blended unripe mango. He said the kefta plate was good, and I thought the falafel + hunmus were also pretty good, although the salad that came with it seemed pretty depressing. Nothing really looked like the pictures I had seen online + I found the overall meal pretty disappointing. The guy working was very nice though + I could tell all of the baked goods were made with a ton of intention, although we didn't get any. I felt like we may have visited on an off day or maybe this place was more of a bakery. If I were in the area, I would definitely try it again for chai/desserts.
