That said, the experience in the cooler section was frustrating. We needed help identifying a cut of meat because the pricing area had multiple different labels and prices, but one of the employees basically refused to help and just told us to "look over there." Because of the confusion, we accidentally picked up two different cuts thinking they were the same and only realized it later at checkout. one of the best restaurant depot locations in so cal. i own a food truck so i go to all of them. their service and selection is great here and the lines aren't usually that long like in other locations. you can always find a good selection of ground beef from 70/30 to angus ground chuck as well as all the different varieties of fries and lots of sliced cheese. hot dog selection generally good as well, and good produce selection as well as great frozen seafood/sushi grade fish. they also have a good stock of packaging and condiments. can't say that for all the other locations. the only ding is that it is far off the freeway exits. read more

My restaurant goes under construction for a year and a half and I didn't want to get stuck with these merchandise that I recently bought from them. The customer service here is some of the worst I've ever experienced. This is my second time coming to this establishment and it was almost as bad as the first. My first experience here was frustrating to say the least. Since it was my first time I wasn't sure where everything was, I spent about 30 minutes looking for one thing. I asked an employee if she could direct me towards where I needed to go for what I was looking for she told me an aisle number and I proceeded that way. I then could not find what I was looking for in the direction that she pointed me. I went back over to her and asked her again if she knew if it could be in a different place she then proceeded to tell me that "it was not her job to babysit me around the store and hold my hand to the isles that I was needed to be taken." I felt as if this was extremely rude and horrible Customer Service. I found it ironic as this is part of her job to help customers fine what they need. Continuing onto today my second time visiting Restaurant Depot i had quite a few things when I came to the checkout. I greeted the cashier and asked how her day was going she ignored my greeting and gave me a dirty look at the amount of things that I had on my cart. I then proceeded to keep to myself as she was checking me out but with every scan she gave a grunt or a sigh as if she was put out for having to ring me up. I understand the store was busy and that can be stressful but there was no reason for her to make me feel as if it was my fault that she had to ring up a big order. Again this is her job and the customer service was just not there. This store is essential to buying things that I need but unfortunately I dread every time that I have to come here as it is an unpleasant experience. I am familiar with Restaurant Depot, and the last time I entered one was in Fountain Valley off of Euclid/405. When the lovely missus says, we should check out the Restaurant Depot on Gothard in Huntington Beach, I quickly agreed to check on paper goods like paper plates and napkins and papertowels and of course TP. Other provisions included cheese, herbs and spices and perhaps some vegies and fruits. Entry was easy enough, you must wear a mask and they had a table where you get yourself some thin plastic gloves. Carts were plentiful, the ones with four wheels that are hard to turn, but they carry a lot! Great if you own a restaurant and need a lot! We just need items for our own household use, and with just two persons, everything seems way to much, and yes, we shop at big stores quite often like the Costco brand. We found shredded cheese, Mangoes at a decent price, a large jar of Chopped Garlic in water and packages of tortillas. We struck out with the essential papergoods. Out of stock the young man said....we did find round 9" strong paperplates, but the price is great if you need a whole case worth. We just bought what we needed. The checking out part was otherwise contrary to some of the critical reviews I read. There were two checkers and one motioned to come over. She proceeded to scan all our item and had the other checker verify the content. Wow, all of a sudden there are 4 other people in line, and I just know that if they did reviews that it was going to be not so good. One checker and one counter. No, we didnt take long and it was easy to pay with a favorite credit card, but looking at the bottom line, we think we would do as good, if not better at our usual grocery stores. He went above and beyond to help let me know about cost on other items so that I had something to compare pricing to. I didn't even have to ask for that. I really appreciated that he took the time to answer my questions because I planned on coming to the store from far. It's people like him who care that makes all the difference in the customer experience. I have a complaint against Geo Garcia, who is the manager of the location in Huntington Beach, CA. On 3/28/20 I called to ask if they had fresh salmon in stock. The woman on the phone kept me on hold for 10 minutes while she checked. She told me that had it and I asked her to confirm twice to make sure I didn't drive for nothing. When I arrived there the seafood aisle was almost empty and there was no one there. I went to the front desk to ask the manager and he said, "there was no fresh salmon these days." When I explained that the woman on the phone confirmed that they had it in stock he simply said it was a mistake. I said that I waited on the phone for 10 minutes and drove 20 minutes for a mistake and he replied angrily, "Yes, mistake," and proceeded to ignore me. He did not even look up from the monitor to address me or apologize. I understand that everyone makes mistakes and the current situation is causing everyone stress. The manager is supposed to represent the company but he failed with his rude attitude and actions. He seems to have no ability to do his job and show customers that they are valued. One thing the restaurant depot every location (Van Nuys, Torrance, Huntington Beach) that I've been to shared in common is "Bad Customer Service" even English language is not my native language and they don't even tried to help. One question is possibly get 3 different answers. The receptionist today was very rude not even tried to tell me that I can get what I need online. She has the bad attitude and her eyes was looking at me like "hey don't bother me ok". Some cashiers can be rude sometimes but still better than Van Nuys location like almost every ones "rude". I've been shopping at restaurant depot for over 5 years and still don't get it "why??" even I tried to be nice to them but still get the same response.
