This was my first time coming to this location and I had mixed but mostly positive impressions of the place. Place looked small on the outside, but once you walk inside, it's a completely different story. The space opens up vertically and feels massive with its tall ceilings and rows of bulk items that actually make a lot of sense for restaurants and businesses. Everything from supplies to most food categories was very well stocked, in date, and had solid variety. I was happy to pick up a bunch of high-heat, heavy-duty kitchen tools during the trip. If you're stocking a commercial kitchen, they definitely have a good selection of durable equipment, but limited. With that being said, I have been to other Restaurant Depot locations and the Miami, FL one will always be my favorite because they have a lot more higher end meat and seafood selections. I was hoping for more variety here, particularly in seafood and baked goods. The bread and pastry section was pretty bare, and I really wish they carried more seafood like uni and sushi-grade products to help elevate this location. Pricing is also a bit conflicting for me as well because some items, especially beverage, pantry goods, and produce didn't feel like a great deal compared to smaller local spots. However, it does make up for that by being a true one-stop shop where you can grab almost everything your business needs in one run. My biggest downside is the location. It's pretty inconvenient, and I had personally much rather see a Restaurant Depot closer to South San Francisco or in an area that feels safer and more accessible than Bayview-Hunters Point. Overall, place has a solid selection, well stocked, and very useful if you're running a restaurant business. read more

I was robbed here 3/22/23 by two men in the parking lot. Came up from behind me and grabbed my purse and laptop from my trunk and sped off. What gets me is this is a chronic issue at Restaurant Depot in particular. This is a small parking lot with one entrance/exit and a security guard. This is happening every other week, how is this getting past the staff and security?? Surely these are repeat offenders? Nobody wants snitch on the thieves? I thought security was supposed to check your Restaurant Depot card upon entry? After the robbery, not one single employee/ management offered to help me, assist me, call the cops or ANYTHING! Staff that work here are VERY questionable in itself. My fellow business owner friend was also robbed here at the exact location about 2 years ago. I used to shop here during the pandemic when i discovered this gem with a day pass. However, when i tried to go back recently they said they don't allow non members in, even to get a day pass. I've even called again just to confirm if maybe it was a fluke. The Stockton location still does day passes so i dont understand why they don't. The sf restaurant depot sells a few particular items i can't find elsewhere, and if i purchase through instacart it's ridiculously marked up plus fees. This comment has nothing to do with the product but the safety of customers that shop at this location. I wanted to address the on ongoing issue of crime at this San Francisco Restaurant Depot location. I was robbed on Tuesday, October 15 at around 6:30 am by 2 suspects in a black 4-door all-tinted vehicle. Security guard and cameras were of no used during this crime. I was hurt during this robbery and wanted to let the manager of this location make aware of this ongoing problem and do something about security measures to ensure customers safety. Security guards need to be doing their job checking customer's membership cards prior to entering instead of just sitting there looking at their phone. What is the purpose of security guard? And we need more camera systems installed outside of parking lot to get a better view of all vehicles entering and exiting the property. Police said camera was not clear enough to identify the vehicle. Business owners please be careful, take precautions and look around when you return to your vehicle. read more

My mother was attacked and robbed by 3 males at this parking lot earlier this morning at 11AM (April 27) who fled in a Silver BMW. Nobody helped her. The security guard didn't want to intervene because he wasn't prepared enough and I assume he was also scared; there's only 1 security guard outside and ironically, he watches the vehicles enter and exit. My mom was thrown to the ground as she tried to relentlessly fight for her purse, but one of the attackers dragged her hair to hold her down. Her purse contained cash, cards, important documents, and her cell phone--everything was stolen. These things can all be replaced, but the heavy trauma will never be erased. There needs to be CCTV cameras throughout the entire parking lot and y'all need to hire more effective security guards. There is only one camera watching what cars come in and come out. But the robbers did not have any license plates so they should've been prevented from coming in through the gates. Furthermore, this is NOT the first time this had happened because the police told us there was a similar incident a few weeks ago! And the manager, himself, says crime incidents like this occur often in their parking lot. Like what the hell???? Then why aren't you guys doing anything about it? It seriously makes no sense Both my parents have been members at Restaurant Depot for at least a decade now. But they will most likely be cancelling their memberships after this incident. Safety should ALWAYS be a priority at every single business. My mom is lucky she got away with a few bruises, but worse could have happened. I'm so upset because there were no cameras in the private parking lot, so we weren't able to gather any evidence footage. This is completely unacceptable. Prices are not that great. You can buy at a local meat and seafood market in your area for a good deal and they will cut the meat for you. This will save you time and storage space. The afro men in the freezer area are not helpful at all. I tried to get 250+LB of whole Turkey to get the deal, and they have so many excuses of why they can't reach them. Today, my family member was robbed in her car, in the parking lot by a male that jumped through the glass of the passenger side window! Around the 11am hour. But when the store called 911, they told the dispatch that the robbery occurred at my family member's residence. I heard the call on the Citizens app (great app!) which included her home address. Restaurant depot provides a vast arrangement of products for all the needs a restaurant owner's needs. They carry essential cooking pots, pans, knives, kitchen attire, etc... Everything here is in packaged and sold in bulk. This is a very big and cold place so be prepared with a list prior to coming. RD occasionally has sales on their items which can be a great savings. The only reason for a low review is based on their customer service. They provide little to no customer service which is fine with me but they genuinely seem to not care about their customers. read more

It is time to write this review that I have been holding off on it because of few great people who work there. I am a regular customer who spends lots of money at this place and I am here in many cases everyday and sometimes twice a day. Today Saturday they close at 4 pm. I did my shipping there around 2, I get back to my restaurant to find out that my food warmer is broken, so as I finished unloading, I immediately went back to Restaurant Depot even though I had other choices to buy a new food warmer for couple hundreds of dollars. I made it back at 4:01, I do understand I am one minute late, but cashiers were still opened with lines of people paying. So I begged to go in just grab a warmer which would not take me more than 5 mins. I explained to the rude employee at the door that it is an emergency and I needed that warmer urgently but she did not care. So why should I care and give them my business? Costco Business center is a much better alternative. Or Smart Foodservice. It is so sad seeing such a bad customer service employee still working there. read more

I have to go here with some regularity because it's close and most of the meat is cheaper, and they have more variety, than Costco. The staff at check out are ALWAYS busy talking to each other, and barely acknowledge the customers. They can't seem to answer any basic questions, like where something is located, and many of them are just plain rude. Occasionally, there will be one staff person that has good customer service skills, but they don't seem to stick around. I'm giving them two stars because they are open every day, and I can usually find what I need. Always try to go early or late just to avoid the lines! Their supervisor Richard is terribly rude. Had a few questions about products in stock which instead of answered by simple "yes" or "no" responses, was met with condescendence such as "well did you see it by the soda?". Also representing a long time customer of theirs, I personally wasn't paying for the food. When I asked Richard if they could check for a card on file he acted like it was the most absurd question he was asked all day. On top of that he wrote up his customer (not me but the owner of the restaurant I work for) for not having a card on file and "holding up the line"! It's like Disneyland for foodies...the prices are so disgustingly reasonable - you wonder why the rest of us non-restaurant types can't get a break all the time!!!! Just make sure you wear warm clothes because the refrigerated/freezer items are one-third of the warehouse. This is a no frills place (they box nothing for you as I unfortunately found out) - but you will spend hours perusing how much you spend there compared to going to a regular grocery store. Today I was sent over here because I was in the area to pick up some items. I was in the freezer isle looking at the different boxes of chicken in the freezer and I didn't know which one to get so I was taking pictures of them and stepping out and sending them as I wasn't able to find the one I was looking for. As I was taking pictures, a guy managing a fork lift was very rude and talked to me in accusatory voice that I couldn't take pictures like that and need to delete them. I admit, it did look a little funny but I didn't have a choice and I'm sure other consumers take pictures of products as well. I was trying to explain and then showed him a picture what I was looking for and he pointed to the corner and told me "grab what I need and go". I didn't want to make a scene so I continued picking up the items I needed but I wasn't happy. I understand people have bad days but don't be judgmental and don't carry your attitude around at work. But I am no buying their paper towels because they're kinda cheap and not sturdy!
