A close friend, a keen foodie, recently visited Latour and was so impressed by the brunch she has been talking about it for the last 2 weeks! So we knew we had to make the trek out of the city and try this much talked about place. For a start, our whole weekend was planned around the brunch. Yes we are a mad group of brunchers, however, living in NYC Saturday and Sunday brunch is an institution. We drove up Saturday morning, the boys played a round of golf and us girls indulged in some pampering at Reflections spa. Before heading back to the city, we planned to attend the brunch at Latour. Delicious? YES Indulgent? YES. Tantalizing? YES. Destination-worthy? YES There is a choice of two tastings; The Petite ( 2 plates) for $55 or The Grande (3 plates) for $75 which includes unlimited fruit juices, home made sodas and freshly pressed coffee. Before I get on about the food I want to write about the Juices they were truly to die for! It felt like there was a lot of thought put into the drinks alone which is great for a teetotaler like myself - as sometimes our needs are an after thought! (there are only so many cranberry juices one girl can drink in a sitting!) My friends are heavy champagne drinkers and as I prefer nonalcoholic beverages, I was really impressed with the combination of flavors on offer. The Tomato watermelon basil juice and the Blood orange prune passionfruit juice were my favorites. The homemade sodas were lovely too especially the Passionfruit & Tahitian lime - what a surprising combination! First of all the "Boulangerie Basket" is served in a three tier serving dish that is anything but ordinary. The service staff are constantly refilling the tiers with in house baked goods - muffins, cakes, madelines and my favorite bacon cheddar scones - a must try! I ordered the following 3 plates: Cavillion melon, turkish apricot, white peach. It was followed by the Swedish sandwich which was AMAZING! Finished off with the 45day dry aged NY strip which was paired with Indian watercress which was cooked in coconut milk (how exotic!) Each dish was deliciously delightful. We were amazed that this quality of food could be found outside NYC - seriously this place is in the middle of nowhere. Its probably not everyones cup of tea, but as self proclaimed foodies and hard to please New Yorkers we found this experience to be right up there with ABC Kitchen & Gramercy Tavern in terms of quality. We can't wait to come back, it was an amazing weekend at Grand Cascades finished off with an indulgent brunch at Restaurant Latour. Definitely worth the drive from the city! read more

Have we been pranked?? $700 for 5 guests food worth no more than $7.00. Onions, carrots, turnips - the cheapest veggies out there. If you want to keep your tasting pallet and stomach intact you'd stay away. Go to a local diner you'll be happier. Here is how the night went: We arrive and the host with his way too small suit claims we made a reservation for 4 and not 5. Instead of being accommodating like all NYC restaurants would be, he starts giving attitude how they just can't seat us. After some back and forth he agreed to seat us. So for starters we were all unimpressed. The servers seemed nice and trying very hard to be upscale. Okay cool, I can go with that. Now for the food - the chef does not allow removal of anything in the dish. E.g I don't eat ham and requested it removed from the tuna tartar - I've never had a restaurant tell me they can't remove a food item. I went with the vegetarian 5 prefix dinner. I was permitted to switch only one dish which was salmon. Thankfully I did since it was the only decent food I had that night. The first dish was a fried potato - okay not bad. Next dish was some weird sauce and 2 slivered turnips - bad. There was a tuna tarter dish, it had a very strong fish smell, don't think it was fresh. The salmon was good - thankfully! But it was so small that we were all still hungry. Then there was a dish of onions on puréed onions. Is that a dish?? The highlight of the night was the white bread and truffle butter! Recently we stayed at Grand Cascades Lodge and had the pleasure of dining in Restaurant Latour. What an amazing experience! Who knew that in the depths of New Jersey you could find a diamond in the rough. We discovered the Chef is apparently new to the restaurant and he is certainly making a statement with this food. We were encouraged by the waitstaff to order one of the 'Grazing' menu and one of the 'Farmers Feast' as they complimented each other - and were glad we took there advice! Each mouthful was sensational. We recently had the opportunity to dine at NOMA in Copenhagen (which yesterday was named the world's best in the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards) and I can safely say that the Chef at Latour is equally as impressive with his creativity and flavor. I was amazed at the quality of the ingredients and surprised that you could get dishes of this caliber in Northern New Jersey of all places. I have traveled the world from Hong Kong to Tokyo to Spain, enjoying the cuisine of many talented chefs at many top restaurants, and would encourage any foodie who appreciates quality, creativity and a great dining experience to visit Restaurant Latour. We recently celebrated our anniversary at Latour and it was magical. We were greeted by friendly courteous staff upon our arrival, followed by attentive, discreet service and stunning food and a breathtaking view. We were informed that every day the menu changes aside from some signature dishes. The choice was between the Harvest menu (vegetarian) and the Grazing menu and we wanted to try one of each. I had some concerns, as I have severe food allergies and was surprised when asked if I would like to talk to the chef about my concerns. Wow... I felt so special that he would take the time to meet me and understand my concerns. He was very interested in understanding the type of allergy and severity in order to recommend substitutes - switching back and forth between both menus. He was extremely patient and accommodating to my needs as a guest. I was blown away. Seemingly ordinary ingredients (think corn or onions) are transformed and turned into blissful mouthfuls. The "Mosaic of Summer Vegetables" was our favorite. We left elated and it was a dinner we will always remember. Thank you so much for the memories! read more

We had a private party at Restaurant Latour. I have to say the chef prepared a menu second to none!! everyone was raving about the food. Also the staff was exceptional!! A very special thank you to Gianni Chiodi, the restaurant manager/ maitre d. He personally catered to everyone's every request. He also went out of his way to help us plan our party. It was birthday party for my mother in law, they made her feel like a queen. She is still feels like the night was dream. The night was just magical thanks to Gianni and his staff. My family are also restaurateurs and they were so totally impressed with Gianni and his knowledge of the cuisine but also the extensive wine selection. Latour's wine cellar isone of the biggest in the country, this young man had expertise in all of it. He really has a brilliant future in the hospitality industry. Also a thank you to Phillip who also went over and above to accommodate all of us. If you want an experience to remember try Restaurant Latour!! It's a little pricey... but you get what you pay for. An amazing experience, the service the food and wine pairings were equal if not better than most of the 4 star restaurants in Manhattan, My wife had the harvest menu, which was gluten and dairy free, I had the grazing menu which was predominantly seafood, with a vegetarian dish to start and a meat dish as the main entree, 7 courses of pure enjoyment, This place is a must visit for anyone who appreciates a unique dining experience like no other in NJ. read more

We have been here a number of times after a round of golf. The hostesses are completely clueless. They looked at us without a word or a smile. They have no concept of customer service whatsoever! They should be trained to greet guests & smile. The wine list is incredible and the food is good but service is lacking tremendously, which left a bad taste in our mouths.
