We are always impressed by their teppanyaki, and this visit was no exception. Without question, it is one of the finest teppanyaki restaurants in the area. From the moment you arrive, everything reflects quality and attention to detail...three hours of validated parking, impeccable service, comfortable and elegant seating, and a top-notch chef dedicated to delivering an exceptional dining experience. Unlike some competitors, there are no flashy utensil tricks or theatrical performances. Instead, the focus is where it belongs: outstanding ingredients, expert preparation, and consistently delicious food. Every dish was beautifully executed and thoroughly enjoyable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an outstanding meal, this restaurant is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

I've been looking forward to trying this out but a bit disappointed, Made a reservation for lunch. They get fairly busy so recommend a reservation. Food was as expected for such establishment and the $. If you know Ward Village, Rinka is probably as good regarding food quality if not better. If you do not know Rinka, look it up and go check it out. Back to Suntory... Service is ok. Cool ambiance. Came for lunch - wife had a drinks and I had a beer as well as Manhattan. First sign of disappointment is the ice. Came in with small pieces of crushed ice. If you're a whiskey drinker, you know the proper presentation. Then the taste, just not polished. For an establishment called Suntory Whiskey, I expected their drinks to be presented appropriately at the very least! Will give them another try. Plenty of drinks on the menu. But first impression and experience are meh.

My husband and I came here for their teppanyaki dinner during our honeymoon. The restaurant feels very proper and authentic, which sets a different tone from what you might expect. When we think of teppanyaki, we usually picture a fun, interactive experience--but this was much more quiet and reserved. While that may appeal to some, it wasn't quite our style. The food was just okay for the price, and the two drinks we ordered were pretty mediocre. That said, our server was great--attentive, kind, and consistently checked in to make sure we were taken care of. Overall, we probably wouldn't return, but if you're looking for a calm, intimate, and more traditional dining experience, this could be a good fit.

We both love the food served in Suntory although we never tried any of their whisky:-) Their Feb special menu is named Shunsai-Zen, like a mini kaiseki of about 16 bites. Beautifully done, tasty morsels. Next came a small hotpot of few slices of Washu beef+ veggies. I had to doggie bag it too full. Last came the dessert, okay. Hubs had the sashimi+ black cod, cod never fishy full of fatty flavour, set meal with rice and miso soup. I really enjoyed everything in this eatery, the servers' attentive/efficient attitude, subtle elegance displayed and the quality ingredients used in their dishes. The chefs put love in their cooking. Highly recommend we enjoyed the quiet ambiance as well.

I've been a fan of this place since my teenage years, and it still holds a special place in my heart. We went there for lunch today, and everything--from the food to the service--was fantastic. We started with Suntory Premium Malt's Draft, beautifully topped with a foam design that read "Hawaii," just like latte art. I ordered the Sashimi and Tempura Set, while my partner had the Teppanyaki Steak and Salmon Set with an upgrade to garlic fried rice. We also enjoyed hot sake and finished with strawberry daifuku for dessert. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious--perfectly executed. I tend to take long breaks between visits, but this time I won't wait as long. We'll definitely be back soon for dinner, which I honestly can't remember the last time I had here. This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant on the island--and I say that as someone who's originally from Japan. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Itadakimasu... Thank you Nadine C for the lunch invite as not only I was excited to dine at Suntory since it's been forever back in my travel industry days it's always nice to have lunch with a friend. Restaurant Suntory is located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center 3rd floor in building B which is in the middle so if you're lucky to grab parking on the 3rd floor it's an easy walk to the restaurant and we sat at the regular seating versus the teppan section which was a nice and cozy. They do have quite the selection for lunch including special lunch menu, hot pot lunch but with some of my allergies I decided to go with their "Donburi Lunch of the Day" which was Maguro...yum! Their teishoku comes complete with salad, tsukemono and miso soup and since mine was a donburi rice is already part of the meal and what a colorful stunning beauty it was, so fresh and flavorful the rice was cooked to perfection while the maguro so fresh and delicate the presentation is just a work of art down to the flower radish. The staff is very welcoming and kept coming back to check on us and we had a lovely relaxing lunch in the heart of Waikiki though once you're here you'd never know. Thank you!

I loved having lunch here! This and Kiki's Tempura might have been my favorite meals this time. I ordered the miso black cod kaiseki, which also came with a bowl with small pieces of sashimi (white fish and two different cuts of tuna), miso soup (red miso), pickles, and good quality Japanese rice. The miso black cod was well-seasoned and melt-in-your-mouth soft. The sashimi was very fresh and well-presented. It's $$$$ for dinner but lunch is more like $$-$$$. The miso black cod kaiseki was $36, which is actually a lot better priced than kaiseki sets in Seattle. We were seated in the teppanyaki area, so there is some smoke from the cooking. Next time I would probably book a reservation to get to sit in the non-teppanyaki areas of the restaurant, so the sashimi taste isn't cut through with teppanyaki smell. The non-teppanyaki areas also look very nice and have smaller table seating areas. The bathroom is very clean, too, and they have their own bathroom instead of a shared one for the plaza.

Service 5/5: Service was the star of the show. Our staff was very eloquent and professional and what is expected of fine dining. Kurt and efficient. Atmosphere 5/5: You're in a nice wood themed restaurant that is bright and airy. Great place for a lunch, but a little too bright for a dinner. If you are here late, you might just think it's morning outside. I would suggest dimmer glow lighting so it doesn't just feel like an upscale mall decor that is blasted with light. Very well decorated and showcases whiskey on the walls. Food 4/5: Food was on point. Delicious and executed to true Japanese style. I would suggest the sets. Even though they are expensive, it's still nice to try. Value 2/5: This is where I struggled to justify the cost. It is a luxury place in Waikiki, but feeling hungry when you are paying for the cost of three meals will damper the experience.

TEPPANYAKI REVIEW*** I will be honest - you're better off going elsewhere for the same AND CHEAPER experience. Sure the SUNTORY restaurant is beautiful and service is unmatched, but I would recommend steering clear of the teppan and opt for one of the other dining options. First of all, we got a chef who stared into our souls when he said his 5-10 words to us, was otherwise silent the entire time and it was just... unexpected. The food of course was fine, but nothing at least to us that was mind blowing and unique. This teppan experience MUST be catered towards non-U.S. folks since they seemed to be having the time of their lives?! They don't even onion volcano or anything! Love SUNTORY forever, but the teppan you can skip.

I had an absolutely unforgettable dining experience at Restaurant Suntory, and it easily stands out as one of the best meals I've had in Waikiki. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance feels serene and refined -- a calm, elegant escape from the busy Waikiki streets. The space is beautifully designed, balancing upscale elegance with a warm, welcoming feel. It's perfect for a special night out or a memorable vacation dinner. They made my husband feel so special on his birthday. The food was exceptional. The macadamia tofu was a standout -- silky, unique, and perfectly complemented by its delicate sauce. It was creative yet comforting, and uniquely island-inspired. The blackened cod was absolutely incredible -- buttery, flaky, and packed with rich flavor while still feeling light. It was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the field greens salad, which was fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully balanced -- a simple dish elevated by high-quality ingredients and attention to detail. Service was outstanding -- attentive, polished, and genuinely warm. Our server offered great recommendations and paced the meal perfectly without ever making us feel rushed. I thought it was incredibly reasonably priced, particularly for the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience. If you're in Waikiki and looking for refined Japanese cuisine in an elegant setting, Restaurant Suntory is a must-visit. Already looking forward to coming back on our next trip to Oahu. P.S. they also have excellent hot sake!

I cannot recommend Restaurant Suntory enough. As a local, I visited at least once a year and now living off island I make sure to make a reservation here whenever I am visiting home. I've tried their brunch menu, seasonal fixed menu, and their omakase. Japanese breakfast is always so good and they have a seasonal menu each time. They also occasionally have a seasonal fixed menu, which is what is pictured here. In my most recent visit, we did the omakase experience. You're brought to their back room for the experience and it's very intimate and service is great. The hospitality is the same as the hospitality you receive in Japan from having a place to put your bag to choosing a cute cup and coaster for your sake. Parking is available in the parking garage and they validate.

Our server was very nice and helpful - recommended us the summer highball and it was the best. The October special was STELLLAR - it was a shabu shabu version of sukiyaki, which was perfect for my preferences. Not too sweet. The mushroom and clam soup on the side honestly was p bland - could have went without it. The appetizer in the very beginning reminded me of the small plates in omakase meals - there were 3 tiny servings of unique bites. The bowl of assorted fish that came with the sukiyaki was so fresh and filling. Finally, the dessert was one of my favorites from all Japanese course meals - the sweet potato made the crème brûlée more nutty and thick. Overall a wonderful experience - would recommend if you're looking to stay close to Waikiki and want nicer Japanese. Parking validated

Pretty pricy for meh food. It also seems to be quite snooty as a restaurant as we had a matcha drink in hand and was told we couldn't bring it in to drink it so we had to leave it in in the car. The waiter was nice and service was very good. We had the February special, Shun-Sai Zen which consisted of 16 small bites and a small hot pot for $48. It's technically for one person but that just seemed way too much for me so I shared it with my husband. It was okay and perhaps ordering a side dish in addition may have satisfied the both of us but I definitely wouldn't be able to eat it all by myself. Some of the small bites were things like potato salad, tofu, egg, a tiny spam musubi, corn, small pieces of fried fish, fried potato and poke. The hot pot was the best part of the meal. Everything looks pretty but the taste is average for a high price. Doubt if I'll be back

The space is small, so there can be a wait, but don't let that discourage you. One thing you absolutely have to order is the salad. I know it sounds strange to get excited about shredded cabbage, but it's actually the yuzu dressing that is incredible. It strikes the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and citrusy flavors in a way that I've never had anywhere else. Unfortunately, it's homemade. And I'm still thinking about it. It was my 3 year old's first time having macaroni salad and she enjoyed it. The chicken was fried perfectly. I dont understand how the panko breading can be so light and airy yet crispy! I really wish they would include miso soup for the kids meal. specialty kurobuta pork loin ($49/set): Decided to go foward with the fanciest pork they have. Again this is perfectly fried with a light and airy breading which is what makes a meal here so special. The set meal comes with unlimited cabbage, and miso soup. All of the flavor comes from the tonkatsu sauce. You get sesame seeds that you crush up in a bowl and add the tonkatsu sauce to it. The pork was good but it didnt blow my mind. Unfortunately my cut had a lot of fat. i dont like chunky chewy fat but others who order this may expect it. My husband had a cut with less fat so i enjoyed his pieces more. I think i could have gone with regular pork loin and prob cant tell the difference if fat is one of the factors. I would love to go back and try the tenderloin cut. Service: we made reservations. the woman helping us was very nice and kind to my kids. She did forget to bring us a high chair but thats not a problem. Environment: very small space as you can see in images. When we came it was 80% families with small children at around 1pm. It makes sense because kids eat fried chicken tenders. thats why we were there haha. Food was cooked perfectly and my kids loved their meal. So overall 5 stars.

The pork tenderloin katsu sandwich was pretty good, bread was toasted and there was a good amount of sauce with the katsu. Jyukusei pork loin katsu was good too. The sizzling plate miso sauce pork loin katsu set wasn't my favorite because I felt like the miso sauce made the breading soggy fast. We weren't the biggest fans of the chicken cheese katsu set either, the cheese was really intense and overpowering. There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can. This place is totally worth the 45-minute commute from Wahiawa.

Its no surprise that some of the dishes were not available as they are popular and probably ran out before the Reviewers got there. The cozy atmosphere, traditional decor, and lively energy make it feel like a neighborhood izakaya you'd stumble upon while exploring Tokyo. The food was outstanding. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the tempura was fried to perfection, light, crispy, and never greasy. Some of our favorite dishes included the scallop sashimi, which was sweet and delicate, the assorted vegetable tempura, and the ikura & uni bowl, packed with rich flavors and premium ingredients. We also enjoyed several of their side dishes, each prepared with the same attention to quality and authenticity. Great food, great atmosphere, and a truly authentic dining experience. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Steep stairs. Much easier to navigate going up. Going down after some adult beverages? Better use the handrail

Yuzu Cheese Cake ($5.50) - really sweet, especially with the granola. Would recommend getting a different dessert.

This place has been a staple for my family ever since we moved back to O'ahu a few years ago. Bottom line? The soba noodles here are utterly fantastic. They are, in my humble opinion, the best on the island, and some of the best soba noodles I've ever had. I don't think anywhere else in Honolulu comes close. You come here to eat soba. Period. In addition to the soba being phenomenal, the other offerings at i-naba are also similarly great. Their tempura in particular is outstanding. I typically order the Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Bowl & Soba or the Dx Tempura Bowl & Soba. Plus an upgrade to a large size soba! The tempura is sooo good. It's crispy, light, and airy. The jumbo shrimp is especially succulent and tender. And the ingredients are always perfectly seasoned with the sweet and savory house sauce. Yummmy! If you're looking for the best soba and awesome tempura, this is your spot!!!

I finally had lunch here a couple weeks ago and damn was my tempura and soba set broke da mout. The soba is housemade with a chewy consistency that I love. I had it cold with the dipping sauce and wow wow wow. So good. My friends suggested I get the shrimp and vegetable tempura as well which amazingly stayed crispy the whole time I savored each bite. Probably 30 minutes. Light crisp batter on perfectly cooked shrimp and veggies. Damn it was good. The service was great as well and I cannot wait to go back. Nice warm atmosphere and there's a free parking lot. It gets busy during lunch and dinner, so get there early or make a reservation. Enjoy!

The Kalbi Shortrib Bao had melt-in-your-mouth shortrib with tangy kimchee inside, which made for the perfect little bite. My favorite was the Crispy Pork Belly, which was probably the best pork belly I've ever had in a long time. Vibe: The restaurant has many tables, perfect for get-togethers with family and friends or other celebrations. You can see the chefs cooking from most seating in the restaurant, which added a nice touch to the dining experience. The servers are all very attentive and friendly. Parking: Mānoa Marketplace offers lots of free parking in their large parking lot, although it does tend to get crowded during lunch.

Everything was delicious but my favorites were the Kalbi Bao and the Pork Belly dish, which is more like a watercress salad with crispy pork belly. The service was top-notch. We ordered family style and each of the main courses we ordered came with rice and they brought out all of these out at the same time so that we could have it with all of the other dishes - great attention to detail. We were also celebrating a birthday so they brought out complimentary matcha lemonades with a candle for a birthday cheers.
