Uni, unagi, toro, seared trio A

Was craving sushi and wanted to try a different spot since we always go katsumidori. Though the me u is not as extensive as other sushi spots, the quality is super fresh. Ayumi was our waitress and she was so kind and attentive. Everything came out swiftly even though it was just one sushi chef working at 5 PM. Seared Trio A- seared engawa, seared toro, seared salmon. Every single nigiri was buttery and was the perfect amount of smokiness from the sear. Uni- most of the uni was fresh but I could taste some pieces had a bit more of an oceanic taste. Miso butterfish- buttery and flakey. The miso marinade was not overwhelming. Kileau roll- creamy California roll with delicious seared salmon. Really enjoyed this spot and cant wait to be back.

Near the beginning of Kalakaua Ave. before the shops, it is valet only parking for the restaurant in a hotel. As with most good sushi places, seating is limited at the counter so we made reservations in advance. They do accept walk ins for regular dine-in seating. We ordered the omakase for both of us and enjoyed the evening at the counter with Chef. She is from Japan and worked in California before she moved to Hawaii. We appreciated her expertise and enjoyed each and every serving that she graciously prepared before us. All the sashimi was fresh. The rice was perfectly seasoned. The ratio of fish to rice was also nicely proportioned. She even presented a few dishes with generous gold flakes. This establishment is BYOB and the staff are appreciative to partake when offered a pour :) A reasonable $230 before tip for two adults, this was a lovely evening and we may very well return. Thank you Chef and team!

Unreal! A perfect meal. Super nice, authentic Japanese dining experience. The fish was fresh and delicious. The specials were amazing. And the Wagyu seared sashimi was probably the best steak I've ever had. New favorite restaurant. AND FREE VALET PARKING. We'll be back soon.

We've now been to Ya!!Sushi a few times, and it's quickly become one of our favorite spots in Honolulu. It's a small, intimate space that really elevates the whole experience - especially if you can grab seats at the counter (which we always do). The omakase is consistently fantastic, with beautifully prepared sushi that highlights both quality and craftsmanship. You can really tell the chef takes pride in every piece. What keeps us coming back, though, is the combination of incredible food and genuinely warm, attentive service. The chef and staff make you feel welcome every time, and the cozy setting makes it feel like a special night out without being over the top. Bonus: it's BYOB, which makes the experience even more fun and personal - bring a favorite bottle and enjoy an incredible meal to match. If you're looking for a memorable sushi experience, this place absolutely delivers.

Something is going on in a small sushi restaurant in Waikiki. It's like one of my favorite movies - east side sushi. In this place is a sushi chef that makes affordable omakase, has loyal followers and makes delicious sushi and sashimi! It's BYOB and yes, I grabbed a nice bottle of sake from Fujioka's and brought beer too! The service is fantastic and the sashimi was so fresh and good! The Leahi sushi roll was so good. I mean everything I ordered was great. It was so good I ordered two at times! The tako wasabi was so good and tasty! We shared sake with the chef and it was like Cheers in a small sushi bar in Waikiki. FREE VALET makes this place a winner!!!! As one of the locals said "don't take my reservation". They might be right. After this I may not be able to get in. Yes, I love this place. My wife loved it as well - it was her idea to go to this place. She's picking winners on Yelp!!!!'

Took my mother to this new sushi spot in waikiki, the sushi was really fresh and the price was okay. The servers and chief were primarily japanese, I think, really nice and welcoming when we entered the restaurant. The restaurant is small so go with smaller groups, otherwise you may need the whole restaurant space. If I recall correctly, theres about 20 to 25 seats in there.

In the last three month my husband and I went there at least 5 times. Everything is fresh. Sushi chef is super nice and all the sushi she makes you can tell she put her heart in. It's casual and BYOB. I will keep on coming back. Very cozy small sushi hole in the wall feeling.

Location at the Luana hotel is low key & easy access in the beginning of Waikiki which is nice. Walked in a greeted by the friendly staff and chef. Seated with reservations and BYOB! Omakase varieties were very good in combination and the price point is great too for the excellent quality! I just let the chef decide and she did a wonderful job!

The Freshest Sushi I've Ever Had The sushi here is on a completely different level! The kind of freshness that makes you pause after the first bite because you can't believe fish can taste this clean and delicate. The tuna sashimi deserves its own paragraph. It practically melted the moment it hit my tongue, buttery and rich without being heavy, with that subtle ocean sweetness you only get when the fish is truly top‑tier!

Sushi and service were amazing! We came before our reservation and were seated immediately. I had the seared trio A which came with salmon, toro, and engawa (halibut fin!): so delicious! Husband had Ya!!Sushi Shaka, which he enjoyed and shared. This little restaurant is apparently the more casual version of the downtown location. Making reservations on the website did not work; making reservations via Yelp did work. Some parties were able to walk in. Someone brought his own whiskey. A party of five were seated at the sushi bar.

Decided to try a new spot in Waikiki, YA!! SUSHI (@yasushibv) and wow, what a find. Their original location is in Downtown Honolulu, but this Waikiki spot has only been open for 8 months and is absolutely worth a visit. Incredible value for truly exquisite fish quality. We ordered the Ahi All Day platter (Tuna Sashimi 5pc, Tuna Nigiri 4pc, Spicy Tuna Roll), 4 pieces of Toro (caught off the coast of Spain), and the A5 Wagyu Volcano (A5 Wagyu fried rice topped with spicy tuna and a poached egg). Everything was perfection. This was honestly the best toro I've ever had -- melt-in-your-mouth soft with just a touch of wasabi and gold flakes. No firmness, no stringiness... literally the toro I dream of every time I order it. Service was great and the staff was super attentive. It's a small spot, so definitely make a reservation before you go. Adding this straight to my restaurant recommendation list. Can't wait to come back and try the omakase next time. FYI: BYOB

There are meals one enjoys. Meals one admires. Meals one respectfully documents, notes the flavor balance of, and later describes using words like "elegant" and "well-executed." And then there are meals that rock your world. This was one of them. Kaiten sushi, or conveyor belt sushi, is a casual, affordable Japanese dining style invented in 1958 where plates of sushi rotate on a motorized belt passing diners, allowing them to select dishes directly. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, it's not the typical catwalk of pre-made maki rolls, nigiri, and other offering. You order off a kiosk and then it is fast-tracked to your table via sushi belt. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, you are granted the ability to try their Edomae-style sushi for a more affordable price. Edomae-style sushi is a traditional Tokyo cuisine originating in the 1820s, featuring seafood, often cured, marinated, or simmered, served atop rice seasoned with red vinegar (akasu). It focuses on enhancing fish flavor through technique rather than just raw freshness, historically acting as fast food for 19th-century Edo residents. That said, dare I say the best meal I had during my stay on Oahu? I DARE! This was an excellent place suggested by Randy S. I really can't tell you all we had because Randy took charge but every bite? Certified bangers. Not one bad bite had. Pro-tip: If you want to feel like you are being mugged by Neptune, the God of the Sea, have the chawanmushi. Oceanic and delish!

I miss seeing the sushi chef in person. The sushi that I had was delicious and the preparations were unique (to me) the pieces were smallish, but so yummy. I would have ordered more but I was not very assertive and everyone wanted the iPad . Most of the nigiri orders were only one at the price point I am used to paying for two and I prefer the experience of sharing. My husband at the other table sampled more than I did. Deep fried Octopus and Toro, I had Yellow Tail and Carpacio, sample two rolls. Big surprise, the French fries were outstanding. The check worked out to about 50 pp. I think that was mostly my husband who enjoyed an array of dishes. As mentioned in other reviews, the bill stacks up quickly. I given them 4 stars for uniqueness, mostly.

Cold, clean, glistening with that dangerous little shimmer that tells you somebody in the supply chain actually cared. You can taste the quality immediately. The kind of quality that silences a table for half a second. And credit where it is due: almost everything I tried ranged from very good to genuinely great. But then the room begins speaking. And suddenly the spell breaks. The atmosphere feels like someone took a serious sushi counter, stripped away all sensuality, all elegance, all ritual, then dropped it inside a fluorescent island diner where exhausted civilians came to discuss parking validation and Costco receipts. It is the culinary equivalent of wearing a Rolex with orthopedic sneakers. The contradiction never stops humming beneath the experience. You sit there eating beautiful fish while surrounded by an energy that feels strangely... transactional. Heavy. Casual in the least flattering way. A room with no mystery. No seduction. No gravity. Like Zippy's accidentally wandered into the tuna trade and struck gold. And on an island like Oahu, where atmosphere matters almost as much as the fish itself that becomes a real problem. Because sushi is not merely consumption. It is theater.Restraint.Texture.Whispered precision. The best sushi spots on Oahu understand this instinctively. They understand that exceptional fish alone is not enough. You are paying for transportive experience. For mood. For elegance. For the feeling that the evening exists slightly outside ordinary life. At Mitch's, the fish reaches for Tokyo while the room drags you back toward a tired strip mall off the freeway. And then there's the crowd. Not evil people. Not rude people. Just an oddly low-rent energy orbiting genuinely premium seafood. The kind of room where one table is eating remarkable otoro while another feels one argument away from discussing used-car financing over soy sauce packets. It creates dissonance. Especially considering the prices. Because at those prices, you begin comparing the full experience not merely the fish quality and that is where Mitch's stumbles hard. There are multiple sushi spots across Oahu that equal or surpass the seafood while also delivering beauty, atmosphere, intimacy, and actual emotional texture. So what remains is this strange contradiction: Mitch's serves fish far above the dignity of its own ambience Which almost makes it fascinating. Would I be back - no . You can get same and better quality fish, much better vine, better part of town for the same Price.

One of my favorite bites was a sashimi piece topped with something that looked like finely grated cheese (not sure what it actually was), but it melted perfectly with the fish and added a really unique savory flavor. The chefs and staff also had a good sense of humor. At one point they served kinki fish and jokingly explained that the English translation sometimes gets called "idiot fish," which got everyone laughing at the counter. The omakase is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, and overall experience made it very satisfying. If you're looking for a refined sushi experience with great service and beautifully crafted bites, this place is worth the splurge.
