This weekend we made our way over to Petaluma and found the cutest little spot right on the water--Taps on the River. We grabbed a table outside, and goodness, it was just so peaceful. A nice breeze, pretty views, and some of the friendliest service you could ask for. We started with the Shishito Peppers and the Peach Salad, and they were both absolutely wonderful. I had the Korean Short Ribs, and my hubby ordered the Squash Burger. Bless their hearts..... they sure know how to cook! Every bite was delicious. I also treated myself to a Dunkel beer, which is mighty hard to find, and I just loved it! We'll most definitely be making our way back to Taps on the River. If you find yourself over in Petaluma, I'd sure recommend stopping by. It's one of those places that just makes you want to sit a spell, enjoy the view, and savor a good meal.

I started with the Westmalle (Belgian) Tripel beer. It was the best part of my meal. I ordered the Sasquash burger which is a burger with bacon and a squash ring. Our server recommended it. It was okay (3 stars). I'm not sure that a thick piece of squash on a burger really works. One of dining partners ordered the fish and chips (3 stars). She said it was okay. Her favorite fish and chips is at Finnegan's in Novato. My daughter ordered the caesar wrap. I tried it. It was the best meal on the table (4.5 stars). Our server was very good (5 stars). I wish this place was better. I might come back again. I like the selection of beers. I would be willing to give it another try.

Christine was fabulous in helping me figure out sauces and ingredients. She was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and deserves a big raise. :) I was already eyeballing the polenta fries (heart Polenta). I switched the sauce to a marinara that was perfect. I also ordered the wings with their homemade caesar dressing and the chipotle sauce. Both were amazing with the chicken. Husband loved their cheeseburger. We both had plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We ordered a Fog Lifter pizza with GF Crust and goat cheese to-go for dinner tonight. Thank you for a fabulous lunch after a stressful morning. It made our day. Plus the wine helped too. :)

FOOD- For lunch my partner and I shared the fog lifter pizza that had pepperoni, spicy sausage, and bacon and a bbq salad. While the sausage was not in the least bit spicy, the pizza and the salad were the perfect combo to feed the both of us, where we were satisfied and ready to explore Petaluma after lunch without it being too heavy! The table shared the "finger-licking-good" roasted potatoes, but in my opinion, they were fine, nothing memorable in the same way the pizza and the salad were.

It's one of those rare places that always feels like the right choice. Over time we've gotten to know the owner a bit, which just adds to the welcoming, personal feel of the place. The service is consistently great--friendly, attentive, and never overbearing. The wine selection is fantastic and really well curated. What I appreciate most is how they meet you where you are--if you just want a great glass of wine, they've got you. If you want to learn a little more, they're happy to guide you. And if you feel like geeking out on wine, they can absolutely go there too. They also sometimes project old movies on the wall, which adds a really fun, laid-back vibe and makes the whole experience even more memorable. It's comfortable, unpretentious, and always a good time. Hard to ask for more in a neighborhood wine bar. We'll keep coming back.

Obviously they have an extensive wine list and they are extremely knowledgeable about all things wine so it makes ordering easier. We were with a large group of about 10 people so we shared bottles as well as ordered by the glass. Several people in the group were raving about the soup of the day, saying how delicious it was and they have had it before. Soup wasn't my first thought with wine but I'm so glad I got it. It was filled with white beans, veggies, and so flavorful. I don't remember the exact name of it but I still think about how good it was. It literally was the best soup I've ever had! They have a great food menu in general. The vibe of the place is upbeat and chill at the same time. Besides being beautiful with wine as decor, it's a cozy feel with groups and couples all enjoying themselves. It's an upscale look but you feel like you are at a friend's house. Highly recommend stopping in for a glass, or bottle of wine and some food!

The owner wife of Vinoma is from Argentina and we were told the recipes that owner husband, Brian, uses were his mother-in-laws. Then he add his own magic touch and creativity!
