I got to lunch a lot and Petaluma and Stockhome comes up quite a bit when we discuss places to go if we're looking for something fresh and healthy their menu covers of a range of items from fried chicken sandwiches to healthy salads, wraps, and number of Shawarma, and other Middle Eastern dishes. On my most recent visit, I shared the burrata with a friend as an appetizer, and we both had the falafel wraps with the french fries. Everything we had was freshly made an extremely flavorful. The burrata was delicious - the fresh tomatoes and vegetables and grilled toast came together well as a plate. My friend even went so far to say he would've been satisfied for lunch just eating the burrata!. The falafel sandwiches are very fresh and flavorful and filled with grilled vegetables which took them beyond the kind of standard fair that you get a lot of places the french fries were fresh hot and super crispy, and also quite delicious. Stockhome uses a deli style ordering system with a nice interior space with shared tables and presents kind of clean, cool modern dining environment, but they also have chairs on the street parklet which I enjoy because it's always nice to get some fresh air when I get time out of the office. Overall, a great spot if you're looking for something in the healthyand light side and Petaluma if you have a taste for a Mediterranean cuisine, this might be a new favorite. Food is good, but we had a disappointing experience with service. You pay first when you order, then sit down. When paying you're prompted to tip, with the suggested amounts starting at 18% and going up from there. When they delivered our food, we asked for extra plates and silverware. They passively aggressively told us they'd get it for us, but "everything we need is located at a side table for us to get ourselves". So they want you to tip on non-existent service. read more

The rest of my dinner companions couldn't resist the fried chicken sandwich which they said was tender and moist. I highly recommend coming to this family-owned restaurant for your comfort food fix. Unique and modern restaurant in the downtown. They have a lot of larger tables that everyone can share. All service is at the counter. I tried the Swedish meatballs and they were tasty. They have limited traditional Swedish dishes. There are some middle eastern style wraps and salads that are pretty good. I tried the beet salad with chicken. They also sell some Swedish candies that you can see in the jars. Overall pretty good place and tasty food that is different than what is typically around. Portions are a little small. Stockhome Syndrome A husband-and-wife-led restaurant located in Downtown Petaluma that harks back to the chef-owners' birthplace of Stockholm, Sweden. They've been awarded multiple Bib Gourmand awards pretty much every year they've been open (circa 2019) for their Sweden-by-way-of-the-Mediterranean cuisine. The Good: * Friendly service * Fast-casual: order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you, which is our favorite type of restaurant for lunch. * Interior was clean and inviting * The Bib Gourmand award stands for "good food at a moderate price," and their prices were definitely not bad, especially considering the area. You could easily have a lunch for two for less than $50, which is a miracle in this economy. * Pommes Frites (aka Fries) were fantastic, as they were fried fresh, still had a bit of potato skin on them, and salted perfectly. * Small selection of beers on tap, but they were quality local brews. * Vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian-friendly options * The Lamb and Beef Pita Wrap came highly recommended from the Michelin Guide, and it was definitely a tasty bite, albeit a bit dry. It could've used some more of the tzatziki sauce to help in that regard. The Meh: * Carissa was not a fan of the crab cakes with guacamole salad. She said it was something about the combo of the crab and guac was just a bit off-putting, and the crab cakes needed more flavor. * I'm a big fan of French Onion soup, so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to get it. While it certainly delivered on the cheesy part of the objective, it severely lacked that depth of deep beefy and onion flavor in the broth, as it just tasted like onion water. I just felt like it needed a few more hours to concentrate down to really scratch my French onion itch. The Ugly: * Street parking only, and it can be very tough to find on weekends. It is free, though. So there's that. Conclusion: Maybe we should've stuck to their regular menu instead of their daily specials, as those can be hit-or-miss. This place has delicious food. My favorites were the dip platter with three different dips and the beef and lamb gyro. Surprisingly I also really liked the broccolini gyro- it was really tasty. Although the Swedish meatballs and the chicken skewers were not bad, I would pass on it next time. We definitely over ordered so we could try various dishes. Servers are nice although everything is pretty much self service. They take your order at the counter and then bring your food to the table. You need to get your own utensils and napkins. Casual dining with quality entrees done with finesse. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Their food is done with care and presentation with the use of different textured, colored plates, makes it lovely to the eye. Swedish meatballs, is a comfort highlight. Stumbled upon the Stockhome food stand at the Petaluma Butter and Egg Days Festival this past Saturday. They were offering a limited menu of gyro pitas. Service wasn't the fastest, but it was sufficient and the wait time was reasonable. I got the lamb and beef gyro pita without tzatziki. The staff assured me that the hot sauce wasn't too spicy, and he was right, it was almost like your typical salsa adding just a little bit of tanginess to the dish. It's been awhile since I wrote a review. This time it was lunch on a sunny January day. Food: I ordered lemonade (killer!), and a Stockhome Burger. Delicisious the burger came out as I wanted - rare - with unctious grilled onions. Service: we were greeted warmly, had no problem with my "ask" of aoli on the side, and hold the lettuce and tomato. I chose the pompe fritte (French fries) as my side. They were just like I liked em. The gal that took our orders batted 1.000. We each got what we ordered! So the back of the house worked hand in glove to deliver what we wanted. In the hamburger world in Petaluma, this is my favorite! The fellow that brought the food to the table not only brought the food but made sure that each person had the right chair that allowed my wife to NOT have the sun in her eyes. Ambiance: Sunshine, great presentation of the food on the plate, and a nice presentation of the plates, and the utensils with a napkin created by someone who card. On the scale of 1 to 10, my meal was an 11! I really really liked this evolution of the menu. Michelin star restaurants are only for fancy date nights, right? WRONG. My best friend and I stopped in here for lunch and were SO impressed. When you walk in, the restaurant is light and airy with beautiful blue and yellow, floral wallpaper that make you feel like you've transported to a cafe in Greece. The decor is modern, yet comfortable and cozy. Since there aren't many options of Mediterranean/Scandinavian restaurants in Petaluma, we had absolutely no idea what to order. However, when we approached the counter, the staff was very welcoming and even helped us decide what to get. The halfway point between Oakland and Healdsburg is Petaluma. And that's how a dear friend and I ended up having a lovely late lunch here at Stockhome. Wow! I thought I could only get good Swedish Meatballs at Ikea! We found this delicious dish at Stockhome! What a lovely spot! My man and I had a day off on a weekday while the kids were at school. We took advantage of it and had a day's adventure in Petaluma. We found this place and decided to have lunch there. I ordered from a nice lady at the counter and our food was served quickly. We had: 1. Moules Frites - delicious mussels drowned in white wine and butter. The lady at the counter thought I only ordered fries, but I corrected her after receiving everything. It was odd that she served the fries without the mussels. Oh well, it wasn't a big deal. 2. Caprese & Tomatoes - It was light but filling. 3. Swedish Meatball - My favorite dish out of the three. When Stockhome first opened, all of the food was fantastic - you can tell a lot of care and attention went into each dish. We've been dozens of times and things recently just aren't at the same quality level as they were originally. Now, that's not say it's bad - no, in fact, the food is pretty good... our go-to from the beginning has been the little gem salad - I love the crispy chickpeas! Recently, their salad has suffered from, let's just call it "a lack of attention." Recently, there have been oxidized pieces of lettuce (the ribs are all brown or red), which of course happens in the fridge all the time, but I guess my expectation is that prep work should involve throwing away less than ideal lettuce. Similarly, the lettuces are being tossed with dressing while still soaking wet. While I appreciate the water implies they are indeed rinsing the lettuce, it's really a shame that they have not done more to remove excess water - salad spinner, paper towels, etc, because the beautiful dressing they put on top gets all watered down. I'm not sure what's happening, but we see similar small issues like these across a lot of dishes we've had over the past 2 years that have honestly kept us from going more often. After all, who wants a salad with watery dressing? With that said, one thing that has been consistently excellent is the service. Everyone is friendly and helpful - if this much energy and attention went into the BOH, I'm sure the minor food issues would be solved quickly. read more

Sweet place. It was a very rainy day and it's not the coziest, though not the coldest setting. But the food was terrific. We had what might have been side dishes of the shaved lamb/beef and sourdough bread and the charred cauliflower with tahini and macadamia nuts. All delicious and just enough food for our appetites because we wanted to save room for the spiced apple pie. Which, we didn't know, came with a wonderful vanilla ice cream. We were debating over the semla - the almond paste cream puff dessert. But all too much for these small appetites. Again, terrific food. The ambiance is simple but friendly and well organized as one expects from the Scandinavian side. And the service was friendly and efficient. Scandinavia meets Mediterranean? Only in Stockhome. This restaurant hit on so many levels for me. I loved the homestyle vibes, inviting and open atmosphere, communal seating, low key counter service and friendly staff. Rolling in I really wasn't sure what to expect but this spot truly delivered foodie fun beyond my expectations. We tried the Swedish meatballs (a must) with the fluffiest mashed potatoes and sweet tart lingonberries, the kids mac n cheese (def step above), the mezze plate (solid), all the veggie starters (broccolini was the fave), and a fried halloumi burger just for fun. Naturally we topped it off with the pickled herring in brown butter with rye crisps, the most Scandinavian sounding of all the dishes in the menu, and it was a home run. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was served warm, which surprised me, and I just loved how the fat, acid, sugar and heat from the horseradish in the dish all worked to make the perfect bite. I love anything Scandinavian so I'm glad I discovered this place. It's more expensive than I'd imagine, not that it's overpriced but this is no Ikea Swedish meatballs. No mustard, yes ketchup with pickles on the side. Also had a bowl of "mash potato." with tasty gravy. You order from the main counter then sit at a communal table or another small table. We were able to find street parking right around the corner of the restaurant on a Sunday a quarter before 6pm. Right when we walked in, I felt the cold breeze and it seemed like they had the A/C on, so I was freezing the entire time I was there. After looking at the menu, we decided to go with their restaurant week special because we wanted to try the different dishes. After ordering from the counter, we were given a number to be place on the table. It did take awhile for the food to come out even though the restaurant wasn't completely full. Although the portions were small, everything was delicious. I wished they gave more meatballs though. Not sure if the small portions had to do with it being restaurant week. The Swedish meatballs are to die for! Petaluma has a big restaurant scene and Stockhome stands out with their unique offerings. I attended Sonoma County Restaurant Week several years ago with a couple friends and we dined here on the last day of restaurant week. In addition to the Swedish meatballs I also had the Swedish pancake for dessert which was superb! Be sure to place your order at the counter and get a number because it is not a traditional sit down restaurant. There is plenty of seating inside. The inside and outside of the restaurant is warm and inviting. The interior decor is simple but gorgeous. There are candy jars on the side counter for sale by the pound and kitchen accessories for sale along one of the walls. Stockhome is worth checking out. I definitely need to go back soon and order the Swedish meatballs again and also try some other items off their menu. read more
