I happened to be out running errands while Sandy approached, so I figured I'd stop somewhere to grab a crazy amount of food to go. The menu covered Mexican, Guatemalan, Honduran, and El Savadoranian so I ordered a little from everywhere, and while I waited was given complimentary chips (kept in a toaster) and salsa. Service was friendly and fast. The surprise hit was the pastellitos. I had never had Guatemalan before and while many of the ingredients were familiar, it was put together in a fun and very tasty way. The pupusas were legit, and everything was fresh down to the house made flour tortilla (make sure to request 'hecho de mano'). Only miss was that the whole fried fish was a touch dry. I will definitely hit this place up again. I think it's major selling point is that it can make foods from a variety of Central American countries very well. Make this your one stop shop for authentic Latin American cuisine.

The food was okay, but wasn't the best sadly. There was I hair in my food and I couldn't continue eating after seeing it. The waiter kept on asking me some personal questions which I think she shouldn't do because it's not part of her job. Btw this was the other day.

It means "The Sportsman" in Spanish. Its not a place you avoid if you have a questionable immigration status. I gave this place a try for lunch today. I tried the pupusas and they were delicious. Stuffed with cheesy, porky goodness. However, I was disappointed that they do not offer a lunch menu. They have plenty of items such as tacos, pupusas, and the Honduran pastellitos (similar to empenadas). They could easily cobble together a lunch menu from their existing dishes. Slap together some combo's at affordable prices and Bingo was his Name-O! The need for a lunch menu was obvious as I was the only customer there at the height of lunch hour. SInce they were open I assume they want the business afterall. Plus I am never in this neighborhood at dinner time so my chances of trying the full sized entrees are pretty minimal. Also, the chips and salsa were free but the salsa was out of a jar. Frowny face...

This place is tucked away in a shopping center. Passed by it for years! I finally went one day and I can't believe I've been passing up this place this whole time! I ordered horchata, pupusas and a tamale. Both were very delicious. The tamale is very different from other tamales I've had before. Not in a bad way, because the flavor was all there. It was fluffier, moist, and flavorful vs other tamales that are dense and sometimes dry even with sauce. Only thing is the waitress did not speak English at all so I had to use what little Spanish I could remember from high school to order, lol. With that being said, instead of getting 3 pupusas that normally come with an order I got 2 and still paid for the regular price. I think we got lost in translation when I said I wanted two pork pupusas and one cheese. I ended up with just 2. Which was fine. She was a sweet lady and I enjoyed the food. Definitely will be making another visit soon.

We started off with the Pastel wrapped in banana leaves, Alcapurrias and relleno de papas. I give the pastel a 4.5 out of five. The relleno de papas a 4 out of five and the Alcapurrias a 3 out of 5. Keep in mind I am comparing this to my mother's home cooking. The pastel was almost perfect. The meat as seasoned very well but not as tender as what my mother used to make. The masa was perfect! The relleno de papas was seasoned very differently than what I am accustomed to but still very yummy. The Alcapurrias were lacking in flavor. My son ordered the Bistec Encebollado with Rice and beans and he was so happy that this dish was very close to our family recipe. My daughter in law ordered the Pernil sandwich which she absolutely loved. My son tasted it and said it was the best he'd ever eaten! My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich which he said had a Puerto Rican flair to it. Puerto Rican Pernil is much different than Cuban Roast Pork which is what he is used to as we live in Miami, FL I only had the appetizers as I was not too hungry to begin with but I was able to taste everything and this restaurant is being added to my favorites list! I will be coming here every time I visit my family. The service was quick and very friendly!

When I entered I was greeted right away and was given a menu and I let them know I would like to place an order to go.  Service was great and the wait staff was very friendly and took my order immediately.  The dining room was very spacious with plenty of tables and they had bar seating available. While I waited for my food I decided to walk over to the bakery that was attached to the restaurant. The bakery sells a bunch of different Colombian/Spanish baked goods, snacks and frozen items. They also had a section setup similar to a gift shop that had purses, hats, clothing and souvenirs that you would mostly find if you were in Columbia which I found to be a nice and unique addition.  I ordered the half rotisserie chicken with coconut rice, fried cassava, and sugar cane juice with lime To-go. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of my meal. My chicken lacked flavor and tasted as though it had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The wing was so dry and dehydrated that it was inedible; only the leg and thigh were moist. Additionally, the coconut rice was significantly undercooked and excessively sweet, to the point that I could not eat it. The fried cassava was served in very large pieces that remained undercooked. The Sugar cane juice was a dark brown color and had a sour taste, suggesting it was not fresh.  Fresh sugarcane juice should be a greenish- yellow color and only turns brown after it oxidizes which changes the quality and is not what I expected.  I have heard great things about this restaurant and hope my experience is not the norm. While I am interested in other menu items, I am currently hesitant about when I might return.

We have two little ones, and they are always so gracious and accommodating. Second, the food is 10000000/10! Wow talk about flavor! Their rice and beans are cooked to perfection and my son who doesn't eat a ton of meat, will eat the shredded beef here! Our favorite thing about the arepa is the sauce they put on the steak with the freshness of the cheese and creaminess of the avocado with the tomato. omg my mouth is watering as I'm typing! For my pickup order, I had a taco salad with a side of rice, and it was hands-down amazing. I also ordered a watermelon fresca, which was so flavorful and clearly made in-house. You can really taste the freshness. I was told they make their tortillas in-house as well, so I ordered a side of those just to try--and they were excellent. Everything was packed with great care for takeout, neatly wrapped and organized. I also appreciated that the pico de gallo was served on the side, which kept everything fresh and well-balanced. The only small downside is that they don't offer a traditional salad dressing for the taco salad, but fresh lime works perfectly and still keeps it very enjoyable. On a separate delivery order a few days later, I tried their birria tacos with a side of rice and another fresca. Again, everything arrived fresh and flavorful. The quesabirria tacos were packed with meat, very rich and satisfying, and they included plenty of sauce on the side, which I appreciated. The rice was also consistently good. What stands out most is how consistent they are between pickup and delivery. Everything is well-prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully packed. This has quickly become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area, especially since they're so close by.

Its a whole in the wall in a neighborhood thats not the best but unfortunately a lot of good places are. I've been here twice, once for a late breakfast and once for lunch with a buddy of mine. This place centers around mostly South American foods (El Salvador + Honduras) and is a local hotspot for the Hispanic locals around breakfast time. The outside is ugly and parking can be limited but just park at another vacant establishments parking lot. Once inside theres a couple of rinky dink tables and overall the layout reminds me of a butcher shop my grandparents frequent in Puerto Rico...but don't worry its clean and you won't find blood splatter anywhere. The food is cheap cheap cheap! And the portions are large. I usually go for an order of baleadas, which is mostly a typical Honduran wheat flour tortilla folded and stuffed with mashed beans, eggs, Mexican style cream and avacados. One is usually enough but somehow I managed to fit two ;) They also put pork instead or chicken but I opt out on that options. This goes great with coffee too! I try replicating this simple dish at home and fail horribly. They also make bandeja paisa which is usually associated as a Columbian breakfast meal but its quite typical in many countires in Central America. This dish is definitely heafty offering a fried egg, a strip(s) of chicarones ( a seasoned pork rinds that has a chewier texture), refried beans, arepas (corn tortillas) plaintains ( usually sweet) rice and avacados. My friend who is a Honduran native usually opts for this as he eats meat. He says it reminds him of home and that this is his favorite local joint for it. This place is a small family owned business and has been here for quite a while. They know thier regulars and are nice people. They aren't too chatty almost shy but that doesn't stop them from inviting you to eat some good food at thier place. Overall, I'd be a regualr if I didn't live 30+ miles away but when I'm in the mood for a full belly and food that is reminescent of my culutral roots I go here. So please people come here and give it a shot :)
