I wanted to update my review. I still stand by what I said before -- the food is good. The handmade tortillas and the flor de calabaza quesadilla are still my favorite. However, lately I've noticed that the flavor has slightly gone down, and sometimes, like others have mentioned, the food can be a bit greasy. That said, I'm keeping my 4-star rating because the food is still enjoyable But for cleanliness, I'd give them a 3.5 What really needs attention now is the cleanliness of the place. The dining area could use some care, but the bathroom was especially bad. The smell was awful, like the trash hasn't been taken out in days. They even placed a large bin in there, maybe to avoid emptying it often -- but it just made things worse. I'm writing this hoping it brings awareness. People might start walking away if this continues, and I've noticed more reviews pointing out the same issues. I truly hope they take action because the food deserves a better environment.

There was a hair in my food, not that busy. Lady doing the food was not wearing hair net.

I recently visited Restaurante la Oaxaqueña for dinner to celebrate a friends birthday and it was an unforgettable experience! The restaurant was very relaxing and welcoming, the setting was really authentic with comfortable seating. The staff was friendly and quick to take our order. Though it did take a while to receive our food, it was worth it for how aunthentic and home made the food was!! The rice, soft and flavorful, the tortillas just remind me home! The carne asada fries were my definitely my favorite, most authentic asada fries I ever had. So perfect with the cream and avocado. I would most definitely come here again!!

I'm so grossed out, I actually can't believe this.. I can't believe we spent $60 to have the worst food experience. Suspicious chucks of meat in my menudo & no maiz. My husband ordered 2 gorditas with NO sour cream. When the food was ready, the lady opened up the box to show him the order & he noticed the sour cream on it. He kindly told her that he can't eat sour cream & the lady took it back to "fix" it. We came home & noticed she just WIPED OFF the sour cream. We could clearly see, feel, & smell the sour cream left on the gorditas. We couldn't even eat our food. What a waste, it feels like they hate their customers :( I'm sad that I even have to post this

I have been going to this place for almost a decade. The traditional Mexican dishes this establishment offers would blow your mind. They also give great portions for your buck. I had the Quesadilla del Pastor which was a perfect combination of spicy and sweet with the meat and its handmade tortilla was crispy with a fluffy center. They had the fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, crema mexicana and fresh made salsa. I recommend you go have a bit.

Delicious Food. Great Customer Service. Very Nice cooks that inform you what the food comes with. Great atmosphere. Comida deliciosa. Muy amables los trabajadores. Las cocineras súper chéveres, te explican lo tiene la comida.

Chicken Taquitos and Chicken Quesadilla is the best Mexican food I've ever had! The quality brought me back to my childhood, you can't find a better place than this.

I recently visited the Restaurante la Oaxaquena in Pomona at the request of a friend who is familiar with this place and suggested we meet here for lunch. The customers looked to be locals and a favorite with families. Looking at the menu board and hot food display section, I saw there were a lot of delicious options to choose from. I ordered the Chilaquiles de Mole with scrambled eggs, beans and rice. There is no table service so when my number was called, I went to pick up my plate on a tray. The chilaquiles were tasty and plentiful. I added some extra hot salsa, and the tortillas were covered with cheese and mole. The customer service was friendly and attentive, and I was offered a refill with my drink. There is a large parking lot in front and some street parking as a backup. Based on my first experience here, I would return and try some of the other specialty items which looked tempting.

Decent at most based on the tacos. I ordered 3 asada tacos during my lunch and got charged regular price regardless of the website and pages mentioning taco Tuesday. I placed an order to go for 3 asada tacos and a large horchata and it took about 15mins or so but I didn't realize until I got to work how my receipt was and how skimpy the tacos are. You are better off going to your nearest El Gallo Giro location where they pack the tacos and they have great flavor hence it justifies the cost. My tacos were dry and flavorless ( would have rather eaten the homemade tortilla with slathered beans). I liked the horchata it wasn't too sweet or too thick. Might consider trying it again but definitely stay away from the overcooked asada!

Overpriced. Two burritos, potato tacos and a large drink for $50. That's wild. Inflation is real, especially at this place

The vegan chorizo was incredibly flavorful--you absolutely do not feel like you're sacrificing anything by choosing it. Everything worked perfectly together. Seriously. Even the chips and salsa were memorable. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, and both the vegan option and the traditional meat option were excellent. We will absolutely be back. I was hoping they would have a Taco Tuesday special or something but they don't... I ordered 2 carne asada and 1 al pastor tacos to go. They were prettty solid and delicious! Carne asada was really nice, the al pastor was definitely more flavorful, but it had more of the burnt ends, so it was either even more flavorful from the charred parts, or it was a bit hard and too crispy to have. Overall, still pretty nice though. I liked how they had the side bar, which it doesn't look entirely the cleanest, but pretty decent. Total for 3 tacos came out to be $9, so it's about $3 each. Kinda high for tacos imo, but they're pretty good.

Parking is limited, so we were happy to snag one of the last spots. This is an order-at-the-counter spot with a salsa bar, hot beans, indoor and outdoor seating, and even Mexican Coke. Indoor seating is also pretty limited, so my friend and I were glad to grab one of the small tables. I ordered the lengua and asada tacos and both were flavorful, tender, and loaded with meat. I was honestly too hungry and eager to take a picture beforehand, but I can assure you the portions are plentiful. The tacos were a little greasy, but still really satisfying. Solid taco spot if you're in Pomona.

But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.
