We were quickly seated and the service was really attentive and appreciated. At around 6-630pm the restaurant began to quickly fill with couples and families. We had the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring. We really enjoyed the fried chicken, coconut rice of the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring, and the amount of spice in the sambal onion and anchovies. The noodles in the Pad Thai had a firm texture which we liked, but for me the sauce was a bit sweet. If coming to the restaurant from 6pm on a weekend, the parking lot is very busy and you could be circling for a parking spot and having to move around vehicles that are double parked for take-out orders. read more

Not my first time at this restaurant, but it definitely has been over a decade since my last visit. Went for lunch today and it was a bit busier than I thought it would be for 1pm, which is great for the restaurant considering people are dining out less these days. We were seated right away and menus provided at the same time. There was a Lunch Special menu but we decided to order full portions from the regular menu. We were able to order right away and our drinks and ice water were brought out. Our food was brought out fairly quickly, all of it being hot. Roti is a must order item! The noodles were also very tasty with the shrimp not being overcooked. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy inside. Service was attentive with the servers checking on us every so often and clearing empty plates away. When we were done eating, the server packed up our leftovers for us instead of just giving us containers. You can pay by card or cash, but just be advised that they do not accept $100 bills. This is a Malaysian restaurant (in Malaysia, it is called a restoran). It is an upscale restaurant, at least many years ago (we actually came here a few times more than 15 years ago, before I started writing reviews). These days, the quality has gone down a little because of ingredient prices. We came for dessert and ordered the following: 1. Hot Milo ($5.00). 2. Teh Tarik ($6.00). 3. ABC ($11.00). Hot Milo is a very popular drink in Malaysia, especially among children. It is similar to Hot Chocolate but a less strong. It was nice. Teh Tarik: it means "tea pulled". They actually "pull" the tea by pouring the tea between two pots at about 3 feet distance! This tea was good. The action of pulling multiple times is to make the tea creamy and smooth. ABC is a shaved ice dessert. ABC is an acronym for "air bath campur", which is a Malay term for "mixed ice". Another name is Ais Kacang, which is Malay for "bean ice". This dessert is popular in Malaysia, Singapore (where it is called Ice Kachang), and Brunei. Ais Kacang originated in Malaysia and it was only shaved ice and red bean. But these days, there are many ingredients (ingredients vary depending on the region of Malaysia) and made to look multi-coloured. For ABC, this restaurant uses red beans, palm seeds, grass jelly, and cubes of agar agar. Then they surround these ingredients with a mountain of shaved iced. Finally, they pour the rose syrup, brown sugar syrup, and evaporated milk.finally, they top it off with a single lychee. Yes, it is an unusual dessert to have during a cold -12C temperature, but it is not easy to get this dessert in Toronto, and we live far away. It was quite satisfying. I prefer ABC with another ingredient, chendol, but the item is hard to find in Toronto. The customer service was really good. The interior has a darkened vibe. There is a full-service bar at the front with bar seating. At the front of the restaurant, there are two huge fish tanks, one with beautiful tropical fish. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms, which are wheelchairaccessible, but there is no door-open button. There is free parking in the mall's parking lot. Great flavours! There are not many restaurants around that serve good Malaysian food - I finally found it in Restoran Malaysia. We were in the area, so ordered takeout, which was ready in 20 minutes after phoning in. For my first order at this restaurant, I went with some of my go-to Malaysian dishes. First, the Indonesian Rendang Beef was fabulous. It was slow cooked with galangal, toasted coconut, lemongrass, turmeric, shallots, lime leaves and spices - all nicely seasoned and so much flavour in every bite. It had a nice kick to it - medium level spicy. There was a reasonable amount of beef for the price. Next, the Penang Char Kuay Teow is one of my favourite noodle dishes. It also had a reasonable amount of shrimp and nice 'wok hei' flavour. Last, we tried the Malay Curry Chicken. It too was nicely seasoned and the curry was flavourful. It didn't have as much chicken as I expected, maybe because they used white meat. Next time, I might try one of the Roti with curry dishes instead. Our friends also recommended the Singapore Laksa and Wat Tan Hor (although I don't see it on the Website menu as I write this review). Will have to try a few more dishes for the next round. The bill for three dishes (no rice) came to over $70 so a bit pricey. Overall, the restaurant looked clean and the service staff were pleasant. 3.5/5 I could feel the Malaysian & Chinese vibes when I stepped in as some servers speaks Malay, and they place the big fish tanks and Buddha near the entrance for Feng Shui & blessing purpose. I read reviews which said they don't answer the phone, that's why I didn't make reservations, it was 75% full and I got seated immediately. We ordered 2 of their signature dishes, Nasi Lemak with fried chickens & Laksa. The fried chicken and sambal sauce were delicious but the rice was not fragrant enough with coconut milk. The Laksa soup base was quite thick and with a lot of noodles but not other ingredients. But overall they tasted authentic and good, we'll go later to try their Hainan chicken rice, bbq skewers, Char Kway Teow, curry & roti in future. They offer 5% discount if pay by cash. read more

I genuinely wish I remembered to take pictures but was so distracted because of a certain 9 year old who kept choking his mother. Shout out to the staff who handled our table AND the 9 year old professionally. The food was great - it stayed hot and fresh thế whole time (we ordered the red curry fish, kuay teo, and nasi goreng. The spice level was perfect and I could still taste all of the flavours. In fact the spice level was so good it helped me keep my cool with this kid and kept his mouth shut for a good 15 minutes so that we wouldn't have to hear him swear at his mother and call her derogatory names. Shout out specifically to our server who kept refilling my water with icey cold water because I need to keep drinking to calm myself down repeatedly. And she efficiently packed away all of our food. Bear in mind it was almost closing time so I appreciated thế speediness of the packing. It's a lovely family restaurant and the interior reflects that. Flavourful curries and roti Food: The roti pisang came with the other two curries at once. The roti pisang with crispy yet slighly sweet and it balanced well with the banana flavour. The beef malay kari was on the sweeter side, and tasted of lots of coconut milk. The nasi lemak with the beef rendang was on the spicier side, with coconut rice, peanuts, cucumber, and egg to help cool down our palettes from the heat. The flavours were unique but not something we would crave again, and the portions were on the smaller side even though the plates were very large. Service: The restaurant was pretty large but we still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table of two. As we sat in the corner, we had to flag down staff for placing orders and getting the bill, which is fairly typical of Asian restaurants. The staff were quite friendly, and let us know when we initially wanted beef rendang that it would duplicated in the nasi lemak, so we opted for Malay kari instead. Atmosphere: The restaurant has been around for a while and is clean and comfortable, but could use some renovations to help modernize the space. Another take out dinner recently for a celebration dinner with my family. The restaurant has been around for a long time so it is a bit dated now so we didn't care to dine in and went with take out. You can also save a bit with 5% off on cash payment. We had over 10 items to pick up on a Thursday afternoon at 5:30pm and everything was nicely packaged and ready for pick up. I can tell that they timed it well in terms of preparing the dishes as the dishes were still hot when we got home. We ordered 3 fried bananas desserts which came with ice cream so be sure to bring your cooler bag with ice packs if you order this item. We did reheat the fried bananas since it's so much better when it's hot and you can't expect this item to stay hot by the time you get to dessert. I think that this was everyone's favourite and 3 orders were enough for the 8 of us. And the mango ice cream went perfectly! For the appetizers and mains, we got beef satays, Hainanese chicken and both dishes are my favourite. The yellow curry chicken and beef were good too. My daughter really enjoyed their Indonesian fried rice (Nasi Goreng) and curry mutton with roti. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes and we will definitely be ordering again in the future! read more

It came with beef satay, chicken satay, spring rolls, fish cakes, shrimp chips, plum and peanut sauce. Nicely done and satisfying. Singapore Laksa was awesome. The curry laksa soup was fantastically spicy. It went so well with the noodle. It's funny that when we placed the order, the server recommended us to get this but really avoid the Penang Assam Laksa as it was quite bad! Haha, for sure and we've made a good choice. My friends and I never go for this type of cuisine so it was all our first times going to a Malaysian resto. Good for groups and large parties with ample seating. We came here after lunch and there was a lot of free tables. I ordered the Indonesian fried rice that came with shrimp chips. I found the fried rice to be really good. The color/presentation of the dish was appealing, it was aromatic and I expected it to be spicy but it was not. My friends tried a bit of it as well and all said it was good. This is our go to for Malaysian food. Service is always amazing. Yes. It is on the pricier side, but the portion is quite big (I can barely finish 1 entree on my own) and the quality is always great and fresh. Our fav dishes are the curry with roti and pad Thai. We tried the tamarind with fish this time. it's savoury & sour which is quite interesting flavour. We also tried the sweet chili beef tenderloin which is more soya sauce base, so I didn't think it was that special. There's plenty of protein in the entree dishes and most are very saucey so don't forget to order rice on the side. It's quite spacious inside the restaurant. Decor is kinda dated and nothing fancy. My favourite place to go when craving for some beef rendang. We got their beef rendang, pad thai, and kari ayam (chicken curry) with paratha on the side. Took about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. My family was hungry, so we just couldn't wait to get the first bite. We usually get their beef rendang and chicken curry, but something came over me and decided to try their pad thai. The pad thai was a huge portion, could feed 2 people easily. Added a touch of lime and peanuts to elevate the flavours even more. It was super good, and i think the eggs made it a touch creamy it was delicious needless to say! mr. Tran enjoyed his chicken curry, you can't go wrong with that, and the rendang was just as good the first time I ever tried it, beef was soft and tender with lots of spices and lemon grass. My 2 year old had some pad thai, but the highlight for her was the paratha! She loved it so much, I had to tell mr. I always come back for their char keow teow. I didn't notice it last time but I was really impressed with how many shrimps it had. I think we counted almost 13-14 shrimps, and they are pretty big. As always, the char keow teow was delicious and large portion. Their prata is also really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken this time but the curry sauce was flavourful. I ask got their durian milkshake, it's creamy but so sweet. You taste more condensed milk than durian. The service was pretty good as well. The staff were friendly and attentive. The roti with the curry sauce is ADDICTING. I couldn't stop eating because the sauce was so flavourful. The portions for the price was a bonus. I was so full from this already but we also ordered Beef and Chicken skewers and Nasi Goreng. The portions for the Nasi Goreng was insane. We didn't even finish half because we were so full so we were able to bring a lot of it home. The skewers were very flavourful and juicy, the beef was my favourite. The service was outstanding. Haven't been here for ages! But glad it still around. I ordered the chicken roti, the roti was so soft and sweet. You can eat it alone. The chicken curry sauce was creamy and complimented the overall dish perfectly. We also ordered the Penang Char Kuay Teow which tasted quite similar to the chinese soy sauce rice noodle with beef/bean sprouts. What made this different was that the noodles were thicker width wise, had a lot of wok hai (wok air taste/smokey) and they added chilli . Overall it was a good dish to order. Lastly, got the shrimp paste fried chicken. The chicken was quite tender and you can very much taste the shrimp paste coating. Also it comes with yummy shrimp chips. All 3 dishes were quite good! Went there for dessert and drinks. They had run out of rose syrup so the dishes with rose syrup were not available sadly. They use F&N rose syrup from Malaysia for an authentic taste, but this is hard to bring in during covid. Teh tarik (pulled milk tea) was rich & had the authentic very tannic flavour. Durian smoothie had a good durian flavour & was smooth & rich. ABC (air batu campur aka ais/ice kacang) was good, with a good range of toppings, including palm seeds (attap chee). Sago gula melaka was good - very soft with a rich palm sugar taste. "Goring Pisang" (pisang goreng - fried banana) was good. It was crispy & in Chinese style with the banana being tender & sweet. I revisited this place recently and it's generally a 4.5 star experience. The speed of serving was quick and there was no lineup at 6pm on a Saturday. The food was quite yummy. We ordered the beef and lamb satay, the fried rice noodle, the coconut rice and the rotis with beef curry. -The rotis was quite chewy and flavourful and went quite well with the curry sauce. -The coconut rice came with some minced beef, eggs, cucumbers, peanuts and onion sauce. The onion sauce was quite spicy and overpowered the coconut scent a little bit, but in general it was still quite tasty dish. -The mutton satay had enough sweet sauce on top of the skewer, I felt like you didn't really need to dip in the sauce on the side provided. -The fried rice noodle was not bad as well. I can tell from the dish a solid cooking fundamental from the chef including balanced flavouring and good handle of the fire. I would like to make it a usual go-to place! read more

I have been here a long time ago. But since I learned how tasty Laksa can be while I stayed in Asia for a couple years, I started looking for Laksa in Canada too. The search led me back to here. The place is not as busy as before Covid. But the service was very attentive, partly due to us going for an early lunch. The server helped explain in details the two different types of Laksa and the different type of noodle. I ended up ordering the mixed noodle of vermicelli and yellow noodle. This combo gave us a very good firm texture that goes well with the heavy flavorful soup. The soup is spicy but with complex flavors. The chicken, fish ball slices and tofu goes very well with the soup as traditional Laksa should have. We set out to find a Laksa that taste as good as the best we have tried in Hong Kong, and we ended up finding better Laksa here. The price is good for a noodle as well, with tax and tips it is around 22$ per person for a tasteful Laksa lunch. read more

This place was on our list for our Toronto trip. The kid has been asking for roti canai for ages and figured we'd have it on vacation. Note - this place is cash only! We ordered a couple drinks. Friend got the Guava Citrus with no added sugar. It was ok. Definitely had guava flavor. I ordered the basil longan. It tasted more like lychee though. The kid tried mine and asked if it was supposed to be lychee. The roti was good. Not as light and flaky as what we get at a local place at home, but the kid ate it all up. The chicken curry for dipping was ok. Could've skipped the chicken part of it. Mee goreng was too heavy on the ketchup flavor and the noodles were a bit too soft. There was only one piece of tomato in the entire dish. Not sure if they just cook several orders at once and plate it, but more tomatoes and less ketchup would've been nice. Singapore Laksa was ok. I have had better with instant noodle versions. Didn't have much depth to it. Again, noodles were a bit too soft. Rôti with curry sauce 10/10 - this was definitely my favourite party of lunch. I just wanted to keep getting more becauss the Rôti was freshly made and hot, and the curry sauce was very flavourful. It had a bit of spice to it as well. Would probably come back to the restaurant to have this again! Beef rendang 7/10 - reminded me of thai food I've had in the past. Very thick sauce that was full of flavour. It had a light, sweet and earthy undertone as if it had Lavendar in it. Tamarind chicken dish 9/10 - I enjoyed this dish because I've only ever had Tamarind on its own rather than in a meal. It has a nice combination of flavours, from the sour and sweet Tamarind to a salty, herby aftertaste from the other spices. Coffee with condensed milk 8/10 - this tasted very similar to vietnamese coffee and condensed milk I've had before. It's a nice, semi sweet drink during our lunch. Guava citrus shake 9/10 - this was delicious and way better than other fruity blends I've had in the past. It actually tasted natural rather than like chemicals. First time eating here since Covid came into our lives. It is first come first serve so no reservations are needed. They have good COVID screening protocols. Upon entering you must sanitize your hands, fill in the contact tracing and your temperature is taken. The tables along the walls have dividers to help with social distancing and to protect patrons while they eat. The utensils are clean and come in a wax paper bag. The menu is a QR code.
