This place is very good. It's located in downtown Lufkin in an old building. Although not highly decorated, the place was comfortable and nice. It's seat yourself and they have a variety of booths and tables. Happy hour ends at 6, but I per used the happy hour menu and it looked extensive and worthwhile. The menu was also fairly extensive. Neither of us ordered wine, but the menu looked extensive and the prices were extremely reasonable. As for food, there was a variety of meat and cheese plates, salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. My coworker and I each got the half flatbread salad combo for $8. It came out quickly and was a fairly large plate. I ordered balsamic vinegarette for my salad and it came on the side. My coworker, on the other hand, ordered a Caesar salad and the dressing came on it. The flatbread was delicious. We each ordered the Greek flatbread, and it came out with 6 slices each. All in all, I was very pleased with this place and would go there again. My ONLY complaint was that the service was a little slow. read more

This is a really fun place to go. It has a decent selection of wines and the atmosphere is cozy. I've only had the basil pizza appetizer, and I can't say that I would order this item again. It was okay. I have read many other reviews that suggest that the flatbread pizzas are very good. Maybe I'll try one of these next time. The waitstaff and bar staff are always helpful and willing to make suggestions or offer samples. I can see this place becoming one of my favorite locations in Lufkin. read more

A conveniently located, tastefully decorated venue in downtown Lufkin. I can not speak to the happy-hour attributes of this business, but for lunch I enjoyed a cheeseburger that was far better than I expected, with a side of potato chips that were darn impressive. I am told the chips are made on-site. Add a glass of iced tea, and lunch was around $11. Perhaps a little pricier than you might expect for a burger, but it really was worth it. This is certainly not a place you'd expect to find in little Lufkin, TX. A wine bar in the piney woods? Yes, this is indeed that. The wine selection is extensive, offering both by the bottle and by the glass options. The wine available rotates, so you'll usually be able to find something new. Food offerings were pretty standard fare for wine-centric establishments: meat and cheese plate (of course), pizzas (regular and flat bread), salads, and a variety of little appetizers; also, because we're in deep east Texas, they throw in the obligatory hamburgers and sandwiches. I wasn't so impressed with my flat bread (not crispy enough for my liking), but the brie burger was very good. Service was great. The gals on the floor really seem to enjoy what they're doing (they work in one of the best restaurants in town, so there's that), and will go out of their way to make sure you find a wine that you like. All in all, if you enjoy wine, or you're with someone who does, and you find yourself in Lufkin then by all means you should come here. Heck, even if you're just a guy (or gal) that's interested in wine but might be a little intimidated by the notion of a "wine bar" I'd recommend you stop by. They were out of half of the ingredients they have on the menu. No soup today, the lady said. We ordered salmon and she came back notifying us that they had no salmon ether. We ordered chicken and it was so dry. I guess our expectations were just too high. I have to admit that the lady who attended us was very nice and charming. I've never really been impressed with this place as far as the food goes...before the new management and staff took over it was great (regardless of how boring and incongruous the food is). There was always great entertainment, Glenn was always a great entertainer and kept the atmosphere fun and relaxed...the staff was friendly and welcoming and treated you like family. Wine and beer selection was decent. But I truly wish that they could bring back that enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere again. I also wish that they would let someone with a culinary and wine sommelier background (such as myself) write the menu for the place. Because who in the hell wants to eat chicken strips, burgers and queso with their wine?! It makes no sense. I've never understood it. But hopefully someone figures it out in the future and can keep this place running with better management and better style. read more

My mommy and daddy tell me the food is good. I went one time and had food there. The other day we tried to go but they didn't let me eat there because it was night time. I'm going to eat there again when I'm a big boy one night, but I'm already a grown up cuz I'm 6. I don't want to get too old like 65 or 40. I think it's a bad restaurant since I can't eat here after night time. What they should do instead is let you eat even if you are a kid. One of the best Cobb salads I have every had. Great downtown restaurant that offers a nice dining experience. Prices are very reasonable.

No chance to really give a true review. I truly believe it says a lot when you walk inside and people look at you funny and say oh we closed early. I know it's kind of a small town, but they should stay true to their word when they say they close at a certain time, they should honor that. Yummy pizza, good service, cool building. Just wish it didn't have such noisy patrons. But hey the restaurant can't control that. The potato balls were good, thought they were going to be made with a more "mashed potato" rather than hashbrown, I have had them elsewhere where they were more mashed potato and I preferred them that way but still were good. Definitely recommend to anyone in the lufkin area. Leave plenty of time to take a look at the shops around too! read more

My husband, cousin and I met at the Bistro for lunch. We were looking for a place to relax, visit and have some wine with lunch. The atmosphere was charming and the wait staff was attentive to our needs. The lunch menu was somewhat limited but not uncommon at lunchtime. I had a Cobb salad that was well prepared with an abundance of blue cheese. The greens were crisp and fresh. My cousin had the bison burger which she said was good. As the most recent addition to Lufkin's historic downtown, the Restoration Wine Bar is well on its way to becoming a new local treasure. From what I can tell, this wine bar is the first of its kind in this town, so it's been a wonderful new experience for most natives. The bar may not be on the same level as bars in bigger cities, but it probably offers the best selection in this area--60 different wines and imported beers. Happy hour is 3:00 - 6:00 Tuesdays through Thursdays with at least one wine from each variety. In addition, there is a full menu of salads, sandwiches, and flat bread pizza. Personally, my favorite wine so far is a glass of "Kung Fu Girl" Riesling--an excellent balance of sweet and crisp. I expect you may be a bit wary of the name "Kung Fu Girl" (as was I at first!), but I tried it after the waitress recommended it and found it was a pleasant surprise. Plus, it's on the happy hour menu! While this place may not be my first choice for dinner--after all it is primarily a wine bar--but it does have some yummy food options. If you want just a little something to tide you over temporarily, I'd recommend the cheese plate (another happy hour item! Can you tell I'm a poor college student yet?). If you're a bit more hungry, I'd recommend the normal pepperoni pizza. Both options are simple and delicious. Since its opening a month ago on New Years Day, I've been there multiple times and each visit has been well worth my time and money. So far, the only criticism I know of is how popular it can get over the weekend. In my experience though, the service still maintains its quick and excellent service, even on the crowded nights. Whether you want to take your sweetheart out for a special night or relax with a few friends over some drinks, I definitely recommend checking out the Restoration Wine Bar. read more

I was in town recently on business, and a colleague suggested lunch at this cool little place. Although we didn't imbibe - only because we had to return to work afterward - we certainly did enjoy our time there. The food was wonderful. We both had the lunch special, which was a flatbread pizza with a generous portion of salad. My pizza was oh-so-delicious, loaded with cheese and fresh grilled veggies. My companion had an equally tasty meat-based one. Our salads featured a variety of spring greens with a yummy homemade blue cheese dressing. All in all, it was one of the tastiest lunches ever. Service at Restoration was good, too. I most definitely will return here in the evening with friends for a wine tasting, as well as additional lunches. read more

My wife and I love this place! We liked it when it was still Restoration Wine Bar, but when they upgraded everything, including the menu, it has become our favorite restaurant in Lufkin. The renovation included carpeting in the main dining area, and the noise levels are much more tolerable. The menu changes may gall some if their favorites disappeared, but some of the newbies, like steak au poivre and the bruchetta with steak. are truly special. Service is friendly and competent, and we believe residents of Lufkin and Nacogdoches should try this place if they have not. The prices may have been bumped up a bit with the upgrades, but still are quite reasonable. read more

We ordered a gluten free crust margarita pizza which was nice and crispy. The crust didn't have much flavor but this can be a good thing when dealing with gluten free good. Overall, not bad. My first experience with Restoration was today, for lunch. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and made me feel comfortable. Service was excellent. I chose a Flatbread and it was perfect.
