Guillermo has always helped us find the best way to keep our copier running at an annual cost that works out to something like 1/10th what Ikon or other companies charge to lease a copier. (What a scam. You're much better off getting a reliable machine from Pro-Tech and having them service it for you.) We generally replace our copiers when they get up to about 1,000,000 copies on the copy counter, and we're on our 7th copier, and are considering our 8th. I've been with Guillermo and his crew for almost ten years now, and let them take care of all of my copiers. His rates are very reasonable, he's always friendly and polite, and he can fix a lot of things without replacing them. Just yesterday, for example--I'd called him up on Saturday (try getting another copy repair company to answer on the weekend!) with an error code. He said that generally meant it was a board part or the hard drive. He showed up on Monday with a new board, but he tested a couple of other things first. He found it was something else, much less expensive to fix. I've found that Guillermo does such a good job with my copiers that I work with him on a per-incident basis rather than on a contract (which most companies will try to tie you into). I also know that he handles a lot of independent Kinkos-like places, as well, which to me says a lot about the value and quality that his small company offers.

After a few hours and successful absorption of sun rays, we decided to head back to the car. Bag-check. Towel-check. Car keys-check. Phone-check. Open the door and....*CRACK* F***. Like butter on toast, my phone (still encased in its wallet case) decided to land screen down with the wallet portion flipped all the way open. Right on the super hard gravel. So there I am in Los Angeles, about to embark on another flight tomorrow and I'm phoneless. It still works, but the touch screen is completely cracked and useless. Fast forward 12 hours later and I'm zooming up the I-5 back to the Bay Area. Fast forward a few more and I'm sitting on Caltrain frantically calling shops to see who could fix my phone that day. It took 4 calls before I found a shop that: -was open -could fix my phone the same day -could fix an LG G2 for T-mobile. That last one was most crucial. Other shops turned me away because they didn't have the screen that would fit my phone. 2 hours later, I have a phone that looks brand new and the screen response works perfectly! So come on it, non Iphone or Galaxy users! Price is a bit steep, but I'm assuming it comes from the fact that my phone model isn't in as high demand. My beloved Nikon FE, had it since the early 1980s, got a small dent in the prism housing. It was…read moredriving me crazy since the rest of the camera was amazingly clean. This bothered me so much that I didn't want to use the camera even though I returned to film photography last year. I considered removing the top plate so I could tap out the dent, but removal and replacement of the plate looked rather involved. Lucky for me I came across Karl at Bay Area Camera Repair. He removed the top plate, tapped out the dent and put the camera back together without adding a single scratch anywhere. He even performed some additional minor "repairs" and that was a great surprise. The camera looks GREAT and the only evidence that remains of the dent is a surface blemish (there's no way Karl could have addressed that and I didn't expect him to) due to the original impact. We also discussed cameras for a bit and he gave me some great insider tips on a variety of needs I had. The first two images display the dent before the repair and the last images is after Karl's magic touch. Dent g This experience was better than I had hoped for and I was left with the impression that Karl really cares about the cameras he works on. I have about 20 film cameras at this point and plan to have Karl work on them as needed. It has been almost two months since I contacted Karl to fix my jammed Hasselblad body. I left a…read moremessage on Seawood Camera website, and Karl responded 3 days later with his personal email. We exchanged a couple of email and he gave a ballpark range and told me to bring the camera in Tuesday through Saturday to the camera store so he could inspect it. I said I would drop by either Tuesday or Wednesday and asked for best time to the day to do so. After I did not get a reply from Karl for a few day, I took a trip across the bridge to the store late morning Tuesday. Karl was not there. One of staff in the store told me that Karl called in late but not sure he would come in at all. I waited for about an hour standing in front of the camera store to see since it was not exactly a short trip plus the toll. I emailed Karl about missing him at the store then I head home. People can have emergency so I was disappointed but not upset. However, I was expecting he would email me back to set up a time that I could catch him at the camera store. Karl never contacted me back to this day. I like to patron local area business and not have to put my camera in the mail, but I questioned my trust in Karl's customer care. So, after a week of no reply from Karl, I sent my camera out to So Cal to repair.

I went in after the Apple store told me they'd do nothing to help me get a backup, and the best they could do was replace my phone with a new one for $600+, without any of my data. Anthony immediately gave me advice about how to attempt a backup, and walked me through getting an iCloud setup and attempting a backup. Unfortunately, the phone didn't stay on for long enough for the backup to complete. So he took it and removed all the water, then did a backup before attempting ANY other repairs as I had told him the most important thing was my data (I didn't ask him to do this - he just listened and understood what my priorities were). Then Anthony tested the phone fully and told me what other repairs would be required. All in all, fixed my phone back to perfect working order for much less than the cost Apple were going to charge, PLUS they saved all my data. Sweet Memory were reliable, quick to answer questions, and regularly gave me updates on exactly how it was going. Phone problems really ruin your week, but they made it much less painful.
