I've never experienced anything like it. More than a dozen people who had appointment times later than mine were called back before me. When I questioned it at the desk after waiting 2 hours, I was told it was because of the type of appointment I had and that there was only one patient ahead of me. In the next half hour, they proceeded to call another 9 people ahead of me. When I again asked about it at the desk, I was told that it all depends on what you're being seen for (apparently having an appointment means nothing) and that there were now two people ahead of me. What?! This makes absolutely no sense. The receptionist told me to "tell that to the doctor." I was finally taken to an exam room where I sat for another half an hour. When my wait time exceeded 3 hours, I left. I was so angry that I didn't trust myself to speak to Dr Gordon if/when he ever showed up. I would give them less than one star if the ratings allowed that. I will be finding another retina specialist with another practice for the future.

It was my good fortune to have been seen by Dr. J Shepard Bryan that day and have continued to do so all these years since. He has kept my eyes stable so that I am able to continue to navigate through my similar lifestyle every day. During this time, he also performed surgery which helped me through an extremely difficult period following cataract removel by a cornea specialist. Dr. Bryan is a very professional and skillful surgeon. Additionally, he is a most caring, considerate, and compassionate physician with a very pleasant demeanor. Dwillsey1010@aol.com

The only issue I had is that I was told multiple things that contradicted each other. For example, the surgery center told me that I would wear a shield over my eye for two weeks straight all day long. When I went to my follow up appointment, they told me no I really only needed to wear it at night time. The surgery center told me that I could request nausea medication from the doctors office. Should I feel nauseous. I did indeed feel nauseous and had dizziness and motion type sickness from this surgery. I spoke with the doctors office and they informed me that they do not write prescriptions for nausea medication, but that I would have to call my primary care physician for that. They aren't even aware I'm having the surgery! I also had my first appointment and we agreed I would have the surgery as soon as possible in the next available date. We were both available. Never heard from the scheduler, then finally called them after about 10 days and the surgery was scheduled for a few weeks out! Scheduler said Dr. had written not urgent. I did call the doctors office and it was rectified and moved back to the originally discussed date. There were multiple things like this and it got confusing and a little frustrating for me that the surgery center and doctors's offices are not on the same page. Again, I did like the staff and the doctors.

Dumb of me not to check GoodRX. Is there another retinologist in the area?

I been struggling for years with my sight. I came to realize this is not a quality of life for me…read more I was using 350 strength glasses and still could not see, it was frustrating. So, I decided to go to Carrot Lasik Eye Center to see if they can do cataract surgery on me. They did all the testing and then Dr. Hammond came in to see me. He explained the procedure and yes, he saw the cataract and he can remove it. Day 1 was doing my left eye, everyone was so nice and caring. The Pre-op area Dr. Hammond came in to see me and check my eye. Then went into the Laser room Dr. Hammond used first then into the Operating room and before you know it, he said done. Day 2 post-op checkup I had eye testing chart done it was 20-25 left eye couldn't believe I was reading the chart with NO glasses. Day 3 we did the right eye, same routine and everyone was wonderful so caring. This procedure is amazing. Dr. Hammond said, done. And would clear more every day. Day 4 post-op checkup, had eye chart test left eye was 20-20 and right eye was 20-40. Dr. Hammond said it would clear more every day and it has. HE ADMITTED IT WAS A RESULT OF THE PROCEDURE & APOLOGIZED. I had to have immediate surgery by a Retina specialist. My recovery was 2 months. 2 weeks no vision in the affected eye.
