GREAT PLACE FOR A REUNION Expansive menu. Everyone in the party can pick something different. I guess the theme here is some sort of reunion. All of the portraits have people gathered for a good time. At one point, I became one with the portraits. I, myself, had a good time. I got the skirt steak medium rare. Comes with asparagus and blue cheese mash. The blue cheese in the mashed potatoes aren't too overpowering so that was good. I love blue cheese, but too much and it can make everything taste spoiled. Our server was so attentive that it actually became a bit overwhelming--almost to the point of being intrusive. I know it sounds strange to complain about too much attention. I appreciated the frequent refills and regular check-ins, It felt like every 2-3 minutes we were asked if we needed anything or wanted to place another order, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal itself. Sometimes, you just want to sit back and enjoy a conversation with the people around you, and I feel like there are ways for a server to navigate that. In this case, though, it felt like they were trying to hurry us along, almost like they wanted us to rush out. The ambiance is very rustic, earthy and vintage. It's a great chill vibe - in downtown Brea. The food was great! The appetizers were great. The pretzel itself didn't seem too salty and felt airy. The dip was a blend of spices that went well with the cheese and spinach. +1 for the bread that it came with. I went with the smash burger. The seasoning on the burger was spot-on, but it felt like something was missing. The patty's flavor seemed to overshadow the taste of the vegetables. The fries, however, were enjoyable. The seating arrangement was comfortable and worked well for our group - though unfortunately, the late afternoon sun was directly in the eyes of half the table. A small drawback, but worth noting if you're there before sunset. The atmosphere is stylish and relaxed, but the music was louder than we would have liked for an early evening dinner. Loved trying this new spot in downtown Brea. First, you can easily make reservations here on yelp! Big plus. The food was amazing we tried the chicken pot pie which came with a side of grilled veggies. It was so delicious I can't wait to go back and order again. The prices were a little high.. like $16 for small margaritas so I took off one star, but the place is nice and service is great. Parking is a little inconvenient because you have to park behind which is possible on a slow weeknight but if improv has an event or it's the weekend you'll need to valet or use a structure. I loved the Romaine as the char added nice depth to the lettuce and all of the toppings created a flavor explosion in your mouth. She gave us time to browse the menu and was so patient. She also recommended the wine that would go with all our dishes since we got a bottle. It went perfectly. I came here after a work event and the area is very nice! They were able to sit my colleague and I immediately and everyone was very pleasant! Our server Kendall was extremely nice and helped us with some recommendations as this was our first time. The overall ambience and decor is nice and the drinks were really well made! The food kinda left a little more to be desired. My colleague ended up sending her food back and we noticed this was happening at a few other tables that were around us as well. The manager was very gracious and offered a dessert on the house but that wasn't the best either sadly. My chicken sandwich was decent, but the overall construction was too large to bite. The bread wasn't the softest so I couldn't just squeeze it down but the ingredients did taste fresh. I managed to get through about half of one half and the fries. This review is long overdue. We had the most wonderful dinner at Reunion in Brea. I picked this restaurant based on their reviews and we weren't disappointed. Every single item we had was delicious! The hibiscus margarita was probably one of the best margaritas I've ever had. So vibrant and fresh tasting! We loved our main entrees: Short Rib Stroganoff and the Chicken Pot Pie. Both were so good! Couldn't decide which was better. The only item that was terrible was the pumpkin butter cake. It was so terribly good that we almost picked up the plate and licked it! The service was wonderful too. We were blessed to have Jacob M serving us. He was great, giving us personalized service and recommendations. The restaurant is a large and open restaurant with a lot of comfortable seating. We always eat early so the restaurant wasn't as crowded as I'm sure it gets around dinner time. Because of that, we were seated immediately and the service was really quick and efficient. Parking is located behind the building. I can see how parking might be an issue if you are going during a busier time since they share the parking lot with other businesses and restaurants. We ordered off the kids menu for my young toddler and we got the grilled cheese sandwich which originally comes with shoestring fries, but I upgraded to the steak fries. The sandwich was massive. It certainly did not belong on the kids menu, but it was amazing because she was able to eat leftovers, which was a lot for dinner. She was not a fan of the steak fries as they lacked flavor and ended up, just eating my shoestring fries from my burger. I definitely would not upgrade the fries next time. Our server was absolutely delightful. She was very accommodating to our million requests since our attention was always split between realizing we need something and our toddler.
