Providing an update to address some points from the owner's response to my initial review that left me a bit concerned. Again, I reiterate that I was a frequent patron at this salon and still have my email appointment confirmations from 3/9/19, 12/23/18, 11/3/18, and 7/27/18 (which I have attached as screenshots to this review). Perhaps the salon purges their client records after a certain amount of time, which is why the owner stated that I have never been a client? Unsure, but, again, I am surprised that the owner's initial reaction is to publicly accuse me of lying about ever being a patron of their establishment. In regards to the communication around appointment deposits, of course credit card deposits are standard. The email confirmation I received for my appointment did not contain any directions as to where to submit the credit card information and the stylist did not answer when I asked her that same question (screenshot attached). Contrary to what the owner alleges in their response that I never responded to their attempts to contact me, I do not have any records of any other communication from the salon aside from the initial email confirmation and then the sudden email cancellation. If there is any record of anyone attempting to contact me any other way prior to the appointment cancellation that the salon can provide (i.e., email, text message, phone-call, or voicemail), I will happily amend this review. Anyone who follows my reviews will notice that I tend to focus on positive reviews that uplift businesses in my community. I do not rate businesses poorly often and I am certainly not the type to drag discussions like these out publicly, nor have I ever had to "post my receipts before." Given the owner's response to my initial review, while it is highly unlikely I will ever return to this salon, I do hope my experience was isolated and that everyone involved in this unfortunate situation was able to learn something constructive. read more

Bobby is amazing! I've been seeing him for a few years now for highlights and haircuts, and it's always perfection. He's an excellent communicator who really takes the time to understand exactly what I'm looking for. Since I tend to go a while between highlights, I like my color to grow out naturally--and he nails it every time. He's also recommended a few products that have become my absolute favorites. Most recently, he helped get my hair wedding-ready by taking my highlights a bit lighter, and it turned out exactly how I envisioned. On top of being incredibly talented, Bobby has such a great personality. I have long, thick hair, so my appointments can take a while, but I always enjoy our conversations. read more

Had a horrible experience. Before visiting asked through the phone what the cost of a perm is to see if a consulation was worth it but kept cutting me off, and then hanging up. Called again, didn't pick up. My appointment was at 3:30, made me wait until 4:00. Huy wasn't the one who came to tell me there was going to be a delay but rather someone else who I didn't know. Shoutout to Huy for giving my hair the glam it needed! I've been back and forth about getting a digital perm and found Huy through a reddit post lol. I scheduled a consult with him and he described the difference between a cold perm and digital. Also informed me that not all salons use fda approved perm products, but revamp does. 1.5 weeks after my consult, I went under the space heater lamp and bammmm please see my photo attached. Magic! I've had way better haircuts at regular barbershops. I didn't realize it right away, but the haircut I got here was one of the worst haircuts I have gotten in the last decade. I came here to find an upgrade to my existing hairdo, and am now left with a painfully bad look for a month or so. Revamp was the first salon I went to when moving to SF 15 years ago and I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Huy, the owner, ever since. He's a color genius, and puts up with my desire to keep things simple (and ponytail length) on the cuts. My hair always grows out beautifully no matter what kind of cut and color I get. Sometimes I neglect scheduling and then find it's a few months longer than intended between appointments, yet you will never see crazy roots. I love his work so much - at this point I just come in and ask him what's next. It's always so beautiful, I often wish I had made plans after to take out my gorgeous hair. For what they charge, it should be a GREAT haircut. My stylist seemed to rush thru the cut, and didn't do any adjustment or finetuning after a once-over cut. As an Asian woman with stick straight hair, I have spent a lifetime jealous of my friends who had body or a little curl in their hair. I've tried everything to rectify this, from classic perms, to fancy styling tools, and a crapload of product. Let me say, that I have never loved my hair more after getting a digital perm from Dominique under Huy's expert guidance. I have a trendy shag and it used to require so much to get it to even resemble what I was hoping for, most of the time with mixed results. No longer! Now, I get perfect hair every time with a fraction of the effort. It makes my life so much easier and now I don't have to take an arsenal of products when I travel. Had one of the best experiences with this very well run salon. Huy Le was absolutely amazing. He took my tired hot mess hair and made it a stylish low maintenance do. He listened to my wants, my needs, and was very realistic of what I could and would do to have a great hair day everyday. I don't write reviews very often. But when I do it's either because I feel like I should warn people of something bad or of something they shouldn't miss. I love my hair and I may be in love with my stylist. I've visited Revamp twice in the past week, post-COVID re-opening. The first was to get a cut, and the second to get some purple on my ends. Cody knocked it out of the park both times (and so many times before, as I've been coming to him for a couple years now). He's consistently professional, friendly, and gentle with my hair. And he has great suggestions that have never led me astray! I trust Cody completely. He is honest, intentional, hardworking and tries to do right by his clients. Friends always comment that my hair, even when it grows out, has a great shape and that's because of Huy. I liked the hair work from Revamp, however they really disappointed me with what I consider unacceptable behavior toward their customers. Late last year they raised prices by 30% without letting customers know. Then already this year again by over another 30% and again with no heads up. Meaning a total of +75% versus just a year ago, and without the simple courtesy of advising repeat clients of the change. Just sticker shock at the cash register. That's just plain gouging. No thanks. Update: The salon owner is not telling the truth. I received no "private message." The price of my haircut was reasonable. Then in the fall when they reopened it went up 30% with no warning. I was perturbed but I like my haircutter so I went again and was charged 75% more than a year ago! Another customer also expressed frustration. The "price list" does reflect these increases but who digs around a web site to check for prices going up? I'm quite sure other customers have made the same complaints - i notice a lot of comments are blocked here. read more

Dominick is a genius. I booked on a whim when visiting SF from out of town and badly in need of a hair cut. I had really long hair and wanted to lose some length and dead ends and revive my long layers. Dominick nailed what I was looking for - I said I wanted a very easy to maintain hair cut that I would mostly air dry and I told him I missed the days my hair used to dry wavy throughout. He took off the perfect amount of hair, gave me long layers that make my hair feel lighter but look more voluminous, and god damn when it air dries, it does so in gorgeous waves like it did when I was younger! read more

From red, blue, to now purple, every length, we've been through it all. She pays so much attention to my color and the cut, and never forgets to add her own touch every time. I have been seeing Jonathan for 3 years now. He is my favorite stylist, I worked with him at a different salon in the South Bay. He just moved to REVAMP. I booked an appointment with him today to take my grown out hair to a really pretty deep purple. He did the perfect job he knew exactly what I wanted.
