I…read morechose Dr. Murolo as my dentist after moving to this area in Fall 2024, and even though I had no pain or problems with my teeth he told me that I have 4 fillings that are old and need to be replaced. So I do, but now two of the fillings that he replaced hurt anytime I eat. It is extremely frustrating to have had no problems with your teeth, and then you go see the dentist and all of a sudden your teeth start hurting. He says the bite needs to be adjusted, and so I get the bite adjusted . . . 4 different times. Each time it takes more than a week to get an appointment for a 5 minute procedure. Also the pain is getting better with each adjustment but it's not disappearing. So finally it's decided that the fillings need to be re-done, and it takes almost a month to get an appointment for this. (Seriously - I messaged them on 12/17 and their earliest appointment was 1/14). Then when I get there they claim that I was late and they can't see me for another two weeks. Also at this point the pain has gotten much worse for some reason - my teeth are now constantly hurting and food is getting stuck in between the two fillings every time I eat. It is literal agony but they will not give me an appointment. I can't stand the pain anymore and find another dental practice whose angel of a dentist agrees to see me for an emergency appointment the next day. When I get there they discover that the fillings that Dr. Murolo did BROKE after only three months and bacteria had entered the site. That's why the pain had become so severe all of a sudden. It's so bad that the new dentist re-does my fillings on the spot, but it costs me $300+ because my insurance will not cover a re-do so soon on the fillings. I am so happy to be pain-free now but had a terrible experience with this practice and would not recommend them. Impossible to get an appointment in a timely manner and like I mentioned, fillings broke after only three months, which I can't believe is even possible. Last of all front desk was terribly unprofessional and kept sending us $500+ bills and claiming my husband did not have insurance . . . ma'am, you spelled his last name wrong, that's why you couldn't find him in the insurance system. Told her this and she just giggled and blamed it on "multitasking." There are so many great dentists out there (including the new one I randomly found while desperately searching for an emergency appointment) that you should not waste your time with this practice.

He knows what he's doing, is very calm, and listens carefully to my concerns and questions. He was recommended by another great dentist I had in Marin (Dr. Jason Herschleb), so when we moved to Petaluma in 2001, I started going to Dr. Barton. I take my kids to Dr. Barton, too, and they LOVE him and love going to get their teeth checked. As a parent, one important goal I had for them was to establish a positive association to dentistry at an early age in order to grow into adulthood with no fear of dentists. So far, so good! Also, I recommended Dr. Barton to a friend of mine who is VERY PICKY about dentists. She has extremely high standards and is very critical of them. She has been very, very happy with Dr. Barton and raves about him any chance she gets.

They are so friendly and most important listen to you to the last minute without interruption. My bridge came out today so i go there and Dr Hartford did a filling on one of the tooth underneath the bridge ( had decay on one of them )and cemented back the same bridge that fell out, i asked him whether i need a new bridge he told no this is still good and no need for a new one. ( saved me approx $4,000) . He could have easily told me i needed new bridge, but his honesty plays big part here and you can feel he is so genuine and not greedy whatsoever. My bridge feels so good and i am very comfortable. I want to thank you again for your excellent work along with the entire staff including Dr Keonitzer. Every single visit the staff is thorough, friendly, and makes you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. They don't rush through the cleaning and always make sure everything is done right. But what really makes this place special is Dr. Hartford himself. He always takes the time to stop by during my visit just to check in and ask how things are going. It's a small thing, but it makes such a big difference; it never feels like just another appointment. You feel like an actual person, not just a patient on a schedule.

I'm glad Dr. Lieu reconsidered this for so many of us, as they are the largest dental carrier for millions of civil service workers. He will also offer very good advice on how best to proceed with whatever dental care is needed. He does not recommend anything that is not necessary for your dental health. Not only is the dentist very helpful but I find that all of the staff are friendly and personable. I recommended this office to a friend about a year or so ago, and she has nothing but good things to say about this office. Very supportive quality office. Highly recommended!
