It wasn't just one individual thing. It was many Things that added up to dissatisfaction. 1. My first apt. With the dentist went well, except for two things; They had more paperwork than I've ever filled out anywhere. They wanted my ss number too but my dentist retired so i thought this was the new norm. Firstly, It was very inviting as i walked up ,,with a community garden and a banner supporting local kids organizations as well as a massage chair inside. When I was greeted by the dr. She provided aromatherapy, showed me a tv on ceiling, as well as genuine personal care and concern. She suggested a cosmetic procedure. They tested the acids in my mouth and the dentist recc "hello" toothpaste from target. She said it would set the ph so as to not be so acidic. (The ingredients in that toothpaste are toxic. ) my second concern. I looked up what would help naturally and found that bicarbonate was best. 2. Before the next apt. I was bombarded with voice msgs., texts and emails confirming my upcoming apt. Then i was texted and phoned asking if i wanted to come on short notice to be seen where someone had cancelled. As the calls and texts increased, i phoned and asked if they could just text once the day before reminding me. It never stopped; all the texts and asks. 3. When i came to my teeth cleaning, the hygienist was ten min late and her equipment was broken and she asked me to hold it and operate it for her while she cleaned. Then i had to ask for toothbrush, but she was out. There was no floss or paste provided as i was used to my whole life. I tried phoning before next apt. And AI answered and would not let me speak to a human. :-( 4. The next apt with hygienist ,,same thing; late, scattered pre occupied woman; equip not functioning properly and she had a toothbrush only. Bamboo with plastic bristles. 5. The next teeth cleaning apt. It was a temp hired hygienist. She was short, succinct and impersonal. When i asked for a toothbrush she was a bit put off and then rushed out to her next client. No goodbye, didn't know my name, etc. 6. I then, had x-rays, which i got an estimate for, and was told i needed a procedure. The attending dr. (Different than the first) was not clear which teeth and no details were stated in such a way that i could understand. I was given a piece of paper i could not read. She too was succinct and just to the point, impersonal and disconnected from the human connection. (I felt like she was a robot talking to what she thought was a robot. ) 7. Before that, i phoned and asked for an estimate for x rays. I was given an estimate. 8. When i got in i was then told it would cost nothing. They couldn't find nor did they know who gave me the original estimate. Then i was ushered to another back office person and given a large $ estimate. For the next procedure which at this point, did not trust. 9. Meanwhile, the calls n texts and emails never stopped. 10. I came in very nervous to do the procedure based on the care id been given. I expressed that to the person that seated me. She never said, can i get you a glass of water or put your chair back n turn on the tv while i go get someone who can talk to you about your anxiety? no. She left and i never saw her again. 11. Then a different dr than i had seen the first time came in. It was the same expressionless non-concerned woman. She was the one who gave me the sheet of paper instead of an explanation of the sheet which was not readable. She clearly did not have any intention of re-assuring me or listening to me. Instead, the told me how it was and what i could do if i didn't care for it so i got angry at that point. She could not wait to get to her next apt! The business is all about the $. It appears corporate. . They are unorganized and do not listen to their patients needs or concerns. 12. After i left the last time, no one phoned to apologize or ask for feedback for future needs of patients. Sure enough, i found a person dentist that charged $200 instead of $750 for bite guard and turns out i do not have any cavities. They told me i had TWO!!!!! Thank god i trusted my intuition. read more

2 words: Buyer Beware. I ended up here due to an emergency and them being the first ones who could see me immediately. Nice office. Nice staff. Rough denstist but that isn't the real reason my experience was bad. I was charged a regular amount for the emergency visit and scheduled to see a specialist, which I had to pre-pay for and scheduled for at a time where it was already past their cancellation policy point. On the day of that appointment, I got a call saying that the specialist couldn't see me for just the consultation but what they could do was perform thousands of dollars worth of treatment, instead, without me ever having seen the specialist who was supposed to craft a treatment plan. Very bait & switch. Very shady. Not to mention the $600 of "Dental Warranty" charges they tacked on at the end. Needless to say, I refused and found a better dentist/specialist combo to consult and visit. Very happy I didn't get in bed with Petaluma Dental Group. Bad experience. I went in for a tooth extraction that took three hours of pulling, drilling, and about five shots. My wife and children were waiting in the waiting room the whole time and the dentist kept taking breaks to see other patients. The staff kept complaining that it was taken too long and they needed to go home so at one point His assistant came in and told me she had permission to try to loosen my tooth herself.I didn't know this wasn't legal. Since then, the healing process has been horrible. I was told to take a combination of Tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock. I was also given antibiotics for infection. When I went in to get my stitches removed a week later my mouth was so sore and sensitive they needed to numb me all over again with three more shots! It was terrible. They even gave me more stitches after they removed the ones I had and put me on a whole new regiment of amoxicillin because of how swollen and irritated my mouth is still. My wife and I contacted management and explained how it was illegal for the assistant to come and try to yank on my tooth with tools that she was not authorized to use and they insisted on setting up a meeting that I was hopeful would be a positive resolution, however during the meeting Everybody that wasn't there was insisting that what I experienced wasn't true and that was very alarming. They even tried to tell my wife that one of the stuff has an oral background? How does that matter without license or credentials? It's very apparent that they are only concerned with covering themselves than the truth. What was the point of the meeting? I asked them to remove my name from the database and I will never be returning again. I took a picture of the tool she used and three weeks later my mouth is as sore as day one. Never heard of this in 25 years!!!! The office never informed me I'd need bring $1000 so kids would get check up and cleaning. I have an update, this office did contact me via certified letter and made some adjustment to my bill, but personally I did not feel resolved because of my overall experience there. I feel like if you choose to go there be super careful when asked to sign anything and especially spell out the exact costs BEFORE your procedure. IMO their in house dental plan for $579 I think is not worth it for what it provides. Terrible experience overall. Today was extremely disappointing as they would not fix my cap that fell out after less than 2 years. They were still going to make me pay for the fix that they should've done right in the first place. I sat in the chair after an hour they finally came back to me and explained all the ways it wouldn't work UNLESS they do this OTHER work ... that they should've done in the first place. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT... we also had an alarming Dr. pull me aside when I had both of my kids there getting worked on and one of them was saying my Son can barely breathe!! I did not understand what was happening but he looked completely fine and then she showed me pictures of his tonsils and how they were blocking his airwaves. I explained to her that he just had an examination at a Doctors office and they didn't say anything about his tonsils. She insisted this was a real issue and that an orthodontist would be calling us very soon. NO ONE CALLED. They completely forgot and we had to re-trigger this whole process, get a sleep study, and another doctor check up and the RESULT... everything is fine. No Doctor could see what happened that day with my son... maybe it was swollen? Maybe it was... who knows... but that's another example of a waste of time working with this office. I had been a patient for 20yrs+. I always enjoyed seeing my hygienist and generally liked the practice. I decided to switch to another local dentistry practice after being told by the dentist at my last checkup that there were multiple cavities forming and that I was going to have to come back in for work = $$$. I was really surprised at the news and honestly taken back. They tried to get me to book on the spot for my follow up dental work and I declined. Something just didn't sit right with me after that visit. Always trust your intuition. Two different opinions later by two dentists in different cities and they both told me the same thing...The work proposed was not needed. I took the time and effort to get two different opinions. That's all it took to switch to a different practice. Since sharing my experience with some, I have heard other stories of up-selling of services. This is a great place to go to get your dental work done and initially I was skeptical but after several visits I have changed my mind they do great work! Last week or so sent them an email for an appt, they replied and scheduled one for the next day. I was feeling under the weather went for a covid test and skipped the appt (completely forgot since I slept in the morning), guess what they sent me a $100 invoice... Last year or so - I had gum pain, went to see them and after examination they told me that it is due to my wisdom teeth. I don't have any wisdom teeth lol and told them so. But they xray'd me anyway... and xray showed 0 wisdom teeth... i was charged for xray and examination.. that was #1 Again last year they charged for X amount, I was like this cant be right and after checking with my insurance i noticed that they overcharged... this is #2 I did cleanings with them as well and the lady that was doing it was nice. I think thats the only nice thing about this place. I d recommend go see some other dentist in the area, they charge way more and asking 100 bucks for a no show is ridiculous. That being the #3 and I am done with this place... This place is a scam. I was looking for a pediatric dentist and found their website which at the time had children on the main page. I called and they said yes we specialize in treating children so I made an appointment. When I showed up they clearly hadn't communicated with each other because they put us in a regular room. Then they changed us to a children themed room but the treatment wasn't catered to a kid. For the X-ray they had my son crying and afraid. The attachment for his mouth was way too big. When that didn't work they took him away to a back room for like 15 minutes which scared him to get the X-ray done. We were there for 2 hours for X-rays!!! They upsell upsell upsell. Sold me a yearly plan etc. I may have paid for the yearly plank but I never returned and never will. This is not a top notch dental office it's low budget, like western dental. Highly recommend you consider one of the many other dentists in the area. While I love their hygienists we have had many problems over the years and for some reason just didn't switch away. From their constant up-selling of unnecessary procedures to charges far and above what other dentists bill for the same thing, you will take a big hit to your wallet. My wife had significant trouble with a tooth after they worked on it and had to have it fixed by someone else. While in for treatment myself recently, they changed what was needed while I was in the chair and brought me paperwork to do the new work. Come to find out after getting well into the procedure that they removed the other work I was in for from the estimate AND did not include the root canal they had said I needed. I was stuck with work done by them only half paid for with a couple thousand more quotes to finish it up at their office. I found a new dentist and got it done for a small fraction of the price. To top this all off, afterward as a final act they sent me a bill for work done for my kids two years prior. No bills were received previous to then. It seems to me they are either malicious or incompetent. Do yourself a favor and consider another option. read more

Just moved to town. First visit (exam and cleaning) and I feel so calm and relaxed afterward. Received excellent care from start to finish. Doctor and technicians were through and attentive. The office is well appointed with modern fixtures and equipment. The vibe is calm and extremely friendly and warm. Clearly, they're taking every Covid precaution from a screening and temp assessment when I arrived to ESW disinfectant, an antiviral mouth rinse (not sure what it's called), and purifiers throughout the facility. The first few times I went to Petaluma Dental Group, I didnt like it much. It felt too slick, and I was constantly getting pitched things I didnt need. Fast forward to COVID times - Im not sure what happened, but they seem much more humble and human. I had a baby tooth removed and Dr. Mangram was very professional and kind. Sure there were a few efforts to sell me on vitamins and mouthwash, but it was in a much more benign manner. The attitude of the staff, led by Dr. Mangram as I believe she is the owner, feels fundamentally different. Instead of the intense hustle to sell, sell, sell, they seem much more human. Perhaps, as many of us have felt, COVID knocked us around a bit and made us realize that human connection is worth more than anything. One small example of this - after my baby tooth was removed, I was stunned when Dr. Mangram took the time out of her evening to actually call me and check to see how I was doing. Typically, I would expect a nurse or surgical tech to make that call. To have a highly qualified doctor and owner of the business take the time to do that...that says something. I will happily continue to go back to Petaluma Dental for this type of service and humble, human treatment. read more

Very good dentists and hygienists. Like most folks, I assume, I dislike going for my checkups and procedures. Petaluma Dental Group's team is very compassionate, gentle and offer a humane sedation option for cleanings and procedures. Recently I had a procedure performed by Grishma Zaveri, and although I thought it would be an unpleasant experience, she was extremely gentle - even injecting anesthetic slowly so as not to sting (which was a nice touch). The hygienist (I unfortunately forgot her name - which I hope to come back to correct) was also very good. I was so impressed, I scheduled an appointment for my 9 year old daughter - transitioning her from a prior dentist. Thanks Petaluma Dental Group! read more

I would not recommend this dental practice to anyone. While getting my teeth cleaned twice a year along with x-rays, a cavity was missed. When I returned it had grown to the point of needing an emergency crown put on which they pressured me to do that same day. After consulting with two separate dental offices, they both confirmed that the cavity was missed in prior x-rays. When confronting Petaluma Dental, they denied seeing it and continued to say that they couldn't see it, likely to protect themselves legally. I would recommend you go to another dental practice, but if you are here be extremely cautious. read more

I was a patient at this office for years. I really loved my oral hygienist and dentist. BUT, I went in about a year or so ago to have a tooth looked at for a cavity. Yep, there was indeed a cavity! I was scheduled with a new doctor (female) and she performed the procedure. She then took X-rays and said that she needed to REDO the procedure. As many of you know, one procedure makes your gums very sensitive. So this was not ideal. She followed through with the second procedure and took another X-ray. She told me it SHOULD be fine. Not very promising or reassuring. Here I am a year later and still having pain in the same tooth (the pain never really went away) and it gets progressively worse. I would go back and have them fix it, but the owner/lead dentist is not easy to deal with and I'm sure would give me some push-back. I would not recommend this office. read more

Went here for about a year. Received fillings and a root canal. They are very expensive, even with good insurance, so I recommend shopping around. I received a quote for a root canal and paid the $1256 Co pay. My insurance paid over $900. A few weeks later, the crown surrounding the root canal broke in half, obviously weakened by the new canal. I then received another bill on top of what was already paid, for $498.00! Had I had known it was going to cost $2700 I would have gone somewhere else. Luckily I found another dentist out of state to redo the crown for around $400. So far so good. I would only recommend this dental office if you have deep pockets, if not, shop around or get the heck out of CA! read more

I give one star for the clean atmosphere and because my hygienist had been very nice and did a good job. I am new in town and was recommended to go to this dental clinic. So I was especially surprised when, after completing my cleaning, the hygienist called my attention to a crooked tooth I have and suggested that I consider orthodontia. I've been very good about dental care, having had regular cleanings for 40+ years, and no one ever mentioned that tooth as a candidate for orthodontic treatment. At this stage in my life, I'm more concerned about keeping my teeth than having them straightened, so I immediately picked up on the "subtle upsell." I like to think the hygienist felt weird saying it, and thought maybe they're required to hawk extra services to the captive audience in the dental chair. I voiced my suspicions to my husband, so he was prepared when his visit came. Following x-rays, cleaning, and exam, he was told he needed to have four teeth pulled at a cost of $250 a shot, or $1000. He was then asked to arrange a deep cleaning at a cost of yet another $1000 (yearly maximum with our insurance is $1500). He did make an appointment for the extractions but continued to receive email and text reminders to schedule the "rest of the treatment." Regarding the other reviews that mentioned the same "upsell," I am wondering whether this is a place we can receive a honest evaluation of our dental health. I for one am willing to go back to UCSF Dental Clinic, where we know there is no financial incentive to include extra services. read more

My first visit to Petaluma Dental Group occurred when I had an accident resulting in a front tooth being fractured so badly it needed to be removed. The accident happened at 7:30 am and they were able to see me immediately. The entire staff was friendly and the building is clean and modern. My anxiety level went from a 10 to a 4 within minutes of getting in. More importantly, Dr. Mangrun and Dr. Patel were wonderful. Having a front tooth knocked out is a pretty traumatic event and they made me feel comfortable, took care of the pain, and most critically, Dr. Mangrun came in on her day off to perform the extraction and implant procedure. I can't speak to the long term success of the surgery, but every indication is she did a phenomenal job. She explained every step in advance. She gave me her personal phone number so I could text with questions. The pricing was not cheap- but seems fair (if maybe slightly on the high end) based on what others I know have paid for similar procedures. But given the overall friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the facility, and seeming success of the procedure I am quite satisfied with Petaluma Dental Group. Oh and for what it's worth, they have leather massage chairs so my wife was happy and comfortable while waiting for my 2+ hour procedure. read more

This place is a joke! they had me filled everything online before the appointment because if I didn't fill it up they weren't going to be able to book the appointmen, as soon as i arrived they had me fill everything up again and it took a long time to do it at the end there is a form saying that you have to pay 100% or 50% of the visit, when I talked to to lady upfront she said that they will check the insurance later to make sure to will cover some (Don't they have to do this before the appointment and they also threatened you saying if you don't fill the information they won't book the appointmen?) when i asked the price they came up with a $600 amount, i asked why and they came up with things that i never asked for, BECAREFUL when you come to this place with hidden fees and lack of customer service.. read more
