I was so sad after our second experience here, where we had to walk out. I'm totally up for giving them another chance, but it will involve some coaxing the hubby after our last experience here. First time we came here, we loved it! Our server was actually one of the bartenders who had a little extra time or was serving at the same time? Not sure, but the bartender was helping us for some reason, and looking back I'm glad he did because he was awesome. He answered all of our questions and was super attentive. At first we were only popping in for a beer and to scope out the place, as we're looking for a place to replace the Queen Anne Beerhall (since they keep raising their prices and now charge admission on their busy/holidays/events to get in). Then we ended up ordering a pretzel with a variety of sauces to give it a try as well as a few more beers and just overall enjoying the ambiance and watching a game. It was chill and went smoothly. We were hyped to go back. On our second visit, we were sorely disappointed. Maybe because it was around the FIFA World Cup or something, they changed their rules, and unless you stopped at the entrance to read the new rules on their large television AT the entrance, you wouldn't have known. The rules were something like, you have to order everything at the bar, and the servers are only serving food and drinks. It was weird, and we missed it. So when we finally got one of their servers' attention after sitting there for like 5 minutes waiting to order a beer, the guy refused to help us or answer any of our questions, literally walked away as we were talking. It was pretty bad. So yeah, we ended up walking out. Maybe we'll try again? Not sure, but maybe next time we'll sit at the bar since the bartenders seem much nicer and more attentive. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE COLOMBIAN NO VAYAS AQUÍ SI ERES COLOMBIANO I recently went to this establishment for the Colombia vs Uzbekistan game. They have SUPER unprofessional security. One of the guards happens to be my exes husband. We spent $250 on a mezzanine to be left alone, had a tab of $1,000+ just to come downstairs at the end of the game to be harassed by my ex that her husband Gabriel Garcia had called up. She instigated an argument, some words were exchanged as I was leaving and instead of security getting her under control they decided to side with her because her husband happened to be security for them. I had nothing but the up most respect for him and shook his hand first thing when I came inside. He still decided to instigate a fight, even though security is there to do the EXACT opposite. I've never seen him before there the last couple of times I've been, goes to show how well they do their background checks because my man is a wannabe onlyfans model. I was upset because security wasn't hearing what I had to say so I was raising my voice to get my point across that this was simply a CONFLICT OF INTEREST and that they should review the camera footage to see what went down but they had NO INTEREST in doing so. Multiple witnesses told them that she instigated everything yet they didn't bother to listen. I guess they'd rather side with a stripper that has an open court case against her for a stolen car than someone who was putting money in their pockets. I encourage Baila Bar to find another establishment to do business with because they aren't the right people to do business with. I got blocked by Rhein Haus social media team for trying to apologize which I thought was odd. I was trying to do the right thing today and come in and talk to the manager and apologize to their security detail AGAIN since I already had on Wednesday. Our fav is the giant pretzel, 9 out of 10, it is thin crispy skin, and very soft moist airy inside. The dipping is ok. As for the wurst, we like the harbanero cheese better than the other two. Good place to hang out! It's a really large space with a lot of tables, and bocce ball lanes. We came for team happy hour and had a lane reservation. Since it was happy hour, they had a lot of their popular menu items at a discount. We got the giant pretzel charcuterie platter, wings, fries, and a bratwurst. Their pretzels are absolutely delicious - so soft in the middle with the classic pretzel flavor crust. I really enjoyed the giant one! I also liked the bratwurst a lot, while the wings were just alright. Drink wise, I got the elderflower cocktail which I genuinely thought was one of the best drinks I've had around here. The server completely ignored us, when he did come by with water he dropped the glasses wouldn't look at us and walked away, tried to get his attention and he wouldn't give us the time of day. Apparently there is a dj later in the night but I didn't stay for that. They have a full menu. By the time I was there it was bar service but they had servers earlier. Perfect place to meet friends on a cold and wet day-- there's plenty of seats and bocce ball if you're looking for some entertainment. There was a sign at the door that said you seat yourself and order at the bar, but someone came over to help us. While it was fairly empty, I think our waiter was caught up with another big party because it took quite a while to put our drink and food order in and there was a mishap and one of the items ordered never came out until we asked about it in the middle of our meal. Our waiter was really nice and I think it may have just been an off day though! For food, I got the wurst und bun (with the bierwurst) which came with an onion and tomato relish (great flavor) and a pickle with fries. There are a few different flavors of wursts so looking forward to trying new flavors next time! This is a fun spot to hang out at. They have bocce ball inside and you can also hang outside by the fire pit or under the heat lanterns. Dogs are allowed outside as well. We have been here a few times. On our recent time, we ordered their large pretzel which comes with 3 sauces. It is shareable for at least a few people. Came here for dinner with friends. The sign said seat yourself so we found a table outside and did just that. We did flag a bartender inside as no one was tending to us. Our waiter come out and took our orders. To see the beer selection, you have to scan a QR code. It's not that extensive, but I guess it changes often to have it on a website rather than a set menu. Started off with the pretzel. It comes with honey mustard, beer cheese and a pimento-like dip. Pretzel was huge and a nice starter. Beers came out and those were good. A cozy space for beer and good eats. We stopped in on a Friday night around 5:30 and grabbed a couple of beers and a giant pretzel. The selection of beers was decent with a lot of local features. It has great ambiance, but the beer is mostly bad American imitations of German beer. The food is also really disappointing. I was excited for the Jäegermeister which is alleged to be breaded in Pretzel. I'm not sure. It's just dry meat that tastes like beef tallow with no Jäger sauce and raw red cabbage piled on top with some apple in it. Everything is also ala carte. You get nothing but a piece of meat. The service is super friendly and brings food out fast. They were also willing to split our check when some places don't like doing that. I wish I could write a review of the restaurant's food, but they closed the kitchen before we could order. The story is that my senior-age parents came in from the East Coast to visit. I wanted to take my father to this place because he loves German food and atmosphere. I talked about it all day. I had work and rehearsal in West Seattle from 7AM until 8PM, and afterward I rushed across town to SLU to their hotel to grab them, rushed back to Capitol Hill, the bar, and got them there at 8:50 (they close at 10, so we thought we had plenty of time). We were told they were closing early, and we had to order by 9PM. OK. As I'm trying to place the order at 8:58, they told us they wouldn't make the food --even though they saw us and knew we had come in and were trying to order. I get that they were very slow and wanted to get out of there, but denying two mid-70s seniors from the other side of the USA who really wanted to try the food is inhospitable and pretty shameful. read more

Went out for a couple drinks with some friends. It has good energy if you're looking to watch the Seahawks and they were playing other games beforehand. I tried the rainier pear which I remember being good. I preferred the mojito because the mint was good inside, although they went a little heavy on the soda water so it was a little too fizzy. I got a second mojito and a different bar tender had made it and didn't add the mint on the inside. Came here for the first time since this spot was Von Trapp's and had a great experience! The giant pretzel is incredible, that's my main must try. The jagerschnitzel wasn't for me, although the slaw was good, I just didn't prefer the beef cutlet. The cheesy spatzle was incredible, so soft and cheesy. The currywurst was good, fries could have been seasoned more. The drinks were my second favorite part, after the giant pretzel. I would recommend the the blueberry mule and the spicy margarita. Good ambiance, the bar is gorgeous. Bathrooms are clean! One of the best parts of the experience though was the service. Our waitstaff were super attentive and service was fast. My group ended up leaving after dinner and going to another spot nearby. We realized maybe 45 minutes later that my mom had left her phone somewhere. I went by myself back to Rhein Haus and asked bar staff if they'd found a phone. A bartender and another staffer (I think maybe a manager?) helped me look for the phone even though no one had brought it up to the bar (I ended up being able to pinpoint it more with find my iphone which they told me to check, I completely forgot I could do that). All of the tables without reservations were already taken up so we grabbed seats at the bar so I recommend coming early if you have a larger group. I got the sour from Great Notion Brewing which was a bit too sweet for my taste - tasted like cherry chapstick to me - but the other beer selections were great. We also split a big pretzle with was incredible! Came with a few cheese sauces and mustard and we dove right in. It was super fluffy and flavorful with big chunks of salt. If you have any time of Western/Eastern European heritage, especially German/Polish, this place is a must stop to eat. My grandmother's side of the family is from Germany and the food here brings back memories of her preparing it for us on Sunday's. The portions are perfect, the food is great, and the service is impeccable. The bartenders are friendly and conversational when they are not busy (which is most of the time). In addition to great food and atmosphere, they have a bocci ball court (2 of them actually) in the back for events and is a ton of fun. read more

I was really impressed by the ambience of the place' it was huge, and had that European vibe! There was outside seating but we sat inside the "beer hall" close to the bocce ball area! There was a huge mural of mt ranier (I think?) The employees were extremely friendly and attentive, especially our server! The food looked good! Made for great content. The taste... meh. It wasn't disgusting, it was good, not great. We ordered the currywurst with frites, jägerschnitzel and schweinsaxe. They looked sooo good. I think what I enjoyed the most was the currywurst with fries. Jagerschnitzel was alllright, idk kind of bland. Even with the purple cabbage and mushroom gravy. I tried sprinkling some salt to see if that would enhance the flavor- it did not. It might just be *my palate. Who knows? My partner had the schweinsaxe and finished it but he wasn't blown away by it. He asked for a side of gravy which made it better! He opted out of the cream corn and had the German potato salad with it it also came with I believe roasted summer squash- that also was delicious! I have mixed feelings on this spot. I came in for my first visit on a busy Friday night. There was a very prominent security presence, which was fine, I appreciate their dedication to keeping the space safe. We sat near the bar, and though it was super busy, the wait staff was pretty good about getting to us quickly, and when they were otherwise occupied, service at the bar was quick. Our ordered food and drinks came out quickly and were quite good. Don't sleep on the giant pretzel and beer cheese-it's enough to share. At 1000, the bar area turns into a dance floor; they move all the tables out, and the dj starts spinning some dance music. We headed over to the bocce ball courts (lanes?) for a bit and were posted up at these little tables attached to the side of the wall next to where folks were playing. There were 3-4 of these tables spaced throughout the walkway, and they were all pretty crowded. At some point, a security personnel came to us and yelled, "You can't stand here. You have to move" at the 3 of us who were standing around the small table and watching our friends play bocce. No explanation, just... move. We moved away from the table and noticed that no one else at the other small tables were asked to move despite blocking the walkway with the size of their group. If we had been standing in the middle of the walkway or if we were a large group blocking the walkway or causing a ruckus I'd get why they had to approach us like they did, but the three of us were just chilling with our drinks. I found this interaction really off-putting, and we left shortly after. Overall, I'd give 3.5 stars if Yelp would let me. It seems like it could be a fun place to hang out; hopefully, my experience is a one-off. read more

Rhein Haus is conveniently located in Capitol Hill, however, as you can imagine, the parking is a bit challenging. The place is big enough to hold large parties, and their beer selection is impressive with good German beers. Now to the food... I know for sure that I will probably not be back for food.
